@@TonysTractorAdventure just a suggestion for the long term off grid plan, wind turbine. For those long term overcast periods you get there a wind turbine can often fill in the gaps. I'm at 8000' in the southern Rockies of New Mexico and we rarely have long gaps of overcast but I still have a wind turbine for when we do. We get sufficient wind everyday to compensate for reduced charging. In your area reduced charging days are a bit more common. Just a thought to consider in your long term planning.

Tony, how has this Sungold inverter held up? It looks like a really nice unit, especially for the price. I wanted to put a permanent setup on my camper, but weight issues already made me change my mind. I want to build a portable power station but this Sungold is 24 volts, now I have to rethink everything. I can hook up 2 batteries in series for 24 volts but need more amp hours. I’m guessing I will need room for 2 more batteries to pull it off. Now I need to see if 4 mini batteries will fit in my roll around box? Thanks

I really enjoyed your video and I'll tell ya why. You are using the same All-In-One that I'm using, mine is just branded differently, and you are the only RU-vidr that I've found that is using the 25.6 volt, 200 AH REDODO battery. BTW I have learned, through much YT researching on this kind of stuff, that the correct way to pronounce REDODO is Red-Oh-Dee-Oh, if you care. LOL Your video left me with two questions that I hope you can answer, as I'm building a hand truck based emergency backup for my home. I live in tornado country and the power goes out more than once in a while during the summer. I chose to buy finely stranded, silicone insulated welding cable for my battery connectors. After over 40 years in industrial maintenance, I recognized your wires as being something more like the 1/0 AWG, stranded THHN insulated wire used in industrial applications. Have you had any issues with it overheating? I feel like I was being over cautious, since the wires are in open air and are of such a short length, but it would be good to know if the cheaper, though stiffer, wire would work in this application. The other question is about the ground on your AC OUT section. I grounded to the chassis lug, as you did, but I have seen more than one video where the AC OUT ground was jumped over to the AC IN ground terminal inside the All In One's cabinet. Do you know if it makes a difference or not? I gave you a "like" and I look forward to your video on setting up the parameters BTW, if you haven't noticed already, I think you'll find that your manual will state 1400 watts as the max solar, when the rating plate on the side of the unit states 1600 watts.

I talked with the company personnel. I just called it what they called. I figured they knew. Yes, The wire I used works fine. Each wire is rated by the thickness and type of metal. If it meets the current requirement, the it will be fine. The finer wire is easier to work with.

I'll learn some more and review how this particular panel set up ROI compares with ROI on a stationary (30 ft long) panels. Note: Your two 120 volt phases might need to be balanced with a 'load balancing' transformer in the future, as well as the special focus on grounding from the sub panel and inverters; but i am certain you have already looked into this. My friend, an advice from an engineer, you should ground your installations always. Please ask for advice from an electrical engineer on how to protect your installation from thunders, (ground wires needed and switch protection) , reverse current ( reverse current automatic blocker switch) and how they need to be installed in your main system electric panel. You are at this point 100% unprotected from thunder strikes and reverse current that can fry your entire setup.

Where do you have mounted/installed your ground (earth)? On the inverter you can use the grid ground clamp. I believe your breakers a little bit to big because your inverter has 3000 watts output (?) at 120v. That’s are only 25A on AC. In your Video are 50A breaker is used to the „outside“. I‘m from Germany and not an American electrics pro but I think your inverter is never able to produce short current to trigger the 50A breaker.

Hello. I have installed the same inverter in the video. The PEAK power is 6000W, or 50A. This is found in the back of the instruction manual. It can deliver 3000W continuously, but a short circuit will draw 6000W. The manual recommends a 40A breaker to protect against this. Also, if the appliances use more than 3000W, it shuts down automatically (between 3060W and 3750W).

What sizes are the breakers?

There is a good section in the manual at the link in my video that will give you the breakers. There are a lot of variations depending on you needs.

How much was the system please
@TonysTractorAdventure
@TonysTractorAdventure Год назад
There are so many variables based upon how the system is set up. Our system would cost about $5,000. I think you could be done for a little less. The reality is we need more batteries. Batteries are always going to be the most expensive part. Each battery is about $1500.

Batteries are getting cheaper by the day. As is Solar.

totally regret buying sungold, out of the box had an f11 code after emailing the Chinese like 100 times refusing to open it up as they told me to do since they wanted to fix it myself, I even offered to pay to ship it to them which I did, when I sent it in, they returned it after a month scratched and a loose screw inside only then I opened it to retrieve the loose screw to find out they did not fix it, send it in a second time...hillbillies did not fix it even the second time.

So what do you know about solar..? haha.. Even with 2 arrays and identical panels on each.. four 400w= 1600... It never sees much over 800w. It's aggravating.

Solar ratings are for perfect conditions. Even a small haze will lower the rate. I have only had a few days where I was getting full or better.

No way that will pass an electrical inspection. Those AC Grid wires must be in a conduit, Romex, or BX(metal clad)
@TonysTractorAdventure
@TonysTractorAdventure Год назад
Good thing I don't have to get an inspection. It is perfectly safe. As I said in the video it will be moved once it serves its purpose.

That wire Management space at the bottom of the Inverter/Charger is of very poor design. When Tony moves this to a new location he should get a Raceway box custom fitted to the entire width of the Inverter/Charger so wire Entry/Exit can be proper.

I gave you a thumbs down for doing a number of things that were not code complaint in your 120 volt wiring. Most of that was to do with you conduit installation. NEC 70 covers both the requirements for solar wiring and all other wiring.
