I really enjoyed your HONEST video. The tips about und-jamming the chipper drum was terrific to keep in a back pocket for those who use this style chipper rather than the disc style chipper/muncher. Introducing Ernie and your wife was a nice tid bit, too. Best wishes with continued success. Thanks.
Thanks, great review! One small comment: the owner's manual says that the lithium grease should go in the flange bearings once per season (or, 100 hours), not once before every use.
Can you provide the exact name of the dolly product that you purchased through Amazon for the chipper? Manufacturer and model info would be appreciated.
I enjoyed the video...just purchased a DR Pro 501 chipper/shredder. It was in stock in Waimea, HI. We don't have bamboo, but our problem is thousands of Monstera plants. No problem for our shredder.
Looks like Henon? Nice grove. I just culled out my Congesta grove so I could walk around in it. Next I have to do my Decora grove. Bamboos are magnificent plants. Funny, I use the exact same Makita saw and those same pruning blades. The saw is a beast. I've done a lot of hard work with it and it has held up well. I run the 5Ah batteries in it.
This is really helpful, as I am trying to make a chipper specifically for Bamboo . I may after seeing this choose to go with a disk instead of a drum .
Great. Thanks. The fellow who sold me the bamboo told me they don't hold up. I'm not 100% sure about anything the guy says though. I've had more luck figuring out this stuff on my own. @@growproteas1148
You also would get far less jamming if you would feed the bamboo in at the correct angle. Stop sticking it in and ramming it in the center of the chute, and let it lay on the bottom of the chute as you push it in. They make that chute at that angle for a reason.
Dry wood even bamboo dry stuff does not chip well. Dry stuff just dulls your blades and Beats the hell out of your machine . But if you want to screw up your chipper keep chipping all the dry stuff . Then you will have Avery high price paper weight !
I hate bamboo, the neighbors field has it and over the years has grown out of control. I bought a DR400 chipper/shredder and the shredder makes short work of the bamboo even dead up to 2" in diameter. The harder bamboo I just burn.
