shorted once, recloser cut power, closed again, line further down shorted, recloser cut out, then stayed off.

the birds stopped singing because the loud explosion scared them they didn't die

this woke me up in the middle of the night i thought a bomb went off

that blue flame is cool! except when people get hurt and when .... well lets say you lose power... yeah that just sucks...

The explosion occurred because the spark connected to the other line (and phase). Usually when that occurs there's a huge short circuit

And that's what happens when you have a bad connection. It can get so hot that it melts the metal wires ... and in the case with high voltage, it can start arcing.
