Kalin Konnerth The Japanese know how to make a good sounding 4-banger, for sure. Another good sounding 4-cylinder is the E30 M3's engine, and the Alfa Romeo GTA. Especially the GTA... Mmmm... Carburetors are just the icing on that cake.

The one around 0:15 took forever to get to 160 km/h. I picked up an 07 Grand Prix base and it hits 100 mph in like half the time and half the RPMs. It does have a governor at 108, so I can't talk too much shit.

So let me get this straight. Someone built two engines.... - an everyday, easy to drive, fuel-efficient, calm and quite engine - an 8000+ even 9000 RPM screaming monster, outputing more power than engines TWICE the size. and then found a way to put BOTH engines, on a SINGLE package, and you could choose ON DEMAND, which engine to use, either to get groceries, or destroy cars twice the size, and price, and people still complain that VTEC is bad ? LOL You have got Serious Problems. VTEC is plain simply, COMBINING TWO DIFFERENT ENGINE SETUPS, IN ONE. IDIOTS.

Its not the engine its just this sir...honda was a 900kg can on wheels, no comforf, no luxery no nothing. Just 160hp in 900kg car that was not bad indeed if you compare it to 1500kg 320i of that time or 1600kg c class with 2200cc engine. 2nd thing is those honda engines died twice by the time you reach 100.000km and many friends had crx or civic back in those days and i had many drag races vs them i can tell you vtec aint shit. For example my golf4 tdi 130hp (160remap) was eqil to a crx 1600 16v 130hp wich weights 500kg less lol. Same golf was equil to 2007 civic vtec 200hp with launch control...honda still dreaming of power. Same with 2017civic 320hp it gets destroyd in drag race vs 135i s3 golf r

+Nic D cars will go faster if you allow a certain amount of wheel spin and redline from launch, only from launch though, if you launch, and shift as soon as you redline while the car's wheels haven't caught the traction yet, you will be slower in the next gear than what you would be if you let it redline for 1-2 seconds.

I used to own a EP3 Civic Type R and for the money they are amazing (before they rust away). However modern turbos have vtec beat hands down. I drive a BMW M140i these days and it would leave the Civic dead from a dig or rolling start.

Depends on how good you are at shifting. If you can do it fast and accurate then you can shift without lifting. It's called power shifting and its helps cars with big turbos as you don't loose exhaust pressure so the turbo spools quicker

Hello, I am from Germany and I like your videos. I think it is really strength that the vtec engines go to 9000-10000 rpm and they sound like 6000. Don't get me wrong, it is really impressiv but look at the W201 EVO II, its engine sounds more impressiv at 77000 rpm. And yes we have 2:30 a.m. here in Germany. Viele Grüße aus Deutschland. UNITY

+playUNITY there are body kits online that aren't fully W201. Also, with the body kit you tell still tell it's just a bit different from the original.

+UserPauli2592 Vtec activiates at a certain rpm (programmed in the ecu) and as soon you reach the said rpm your valves open wider so the theres more fuel in the engine
