Stop yelling. Yes, cooling centers are needed. Centerpoint is working around the clock. During Ike, I didn't have power for three days and water for one day.
@@cag19549How are you comparing Ike, which was a catergory 4, to beryl(cat 1). You know you don’t have to play defense for these billion dollar companies 😂.
@@rfalas yeah, imagine having to be without electricity after a hurricane. If there was some way you could generate electricity without a power company that person would make millions. Seems like that would reduce dependency on a broken system.
@@GenaroV2015 freedom means you can move to those other states if you don't want that problem. Houston is a poorly managed city and has been that way for decades. Ultimately you are responsible for yourself and your family, not the government or an electric company. The whole state was shut down during the blizzard even worse than this and nothing got fixed after that either.
We are extremely disappointed with the inadequate response from CenterPoint. It's important to clarify that our dissatisfaction is not directed at the hardworking employees in the field who are doing their best to address the situation. Rather, it is concerning the decision-makers whose lack of concern is evident. It's crucial to emphasize that decisions made during these critical events have real consequences, and when lives are lost due to these decisions, those responsible should be held accountable both criminally and civilly.
🇨🇱it is your political Officials who dictate work schedules to CenterPoint! 🇨🇱The next 'god' to appease is your --Electric provider --who will act as if they are the first & most important--Victim. 🇨🇱These Providers should be figuring your daily expense you paid - spent for last year so they can rebate $ on each day you had to cope/survive Without Electric service. 🇨🇱 this honesty between delivery entities will enact better run programs. 🇨🇱If the self appointed Officials will allow ! 🤠🇨🇱👌
The map Center Point Energy released last night has bad data. It shows energized lines where there is still no power and lines in the queue to be repaired where there is already power. I feel the Company is misleading the public, which could do further harm, all in an effort to put any information out to save face. They should pull this map and not mislead the public. What if a person uses the little bit of gas they have to get home because it appears they have power and when they get there they have no power and no way to refuel to leave again.
Let's make sure the utility companies have an incentive here and "skin in the game". I propose a new regulation by the Public Utilities Commission of Texas : any home which experiences a power outage due to a forecasted weather event will receive one week of power FREE for every day of their power outage beginning on the second day of the outage. Beginning on the sixth day that home will receive one *month* of power FREE per day of their outage. This might not speed up recovery efforts but it would ensure the general public that the utility companies have every incentive to be prepared in advance and to work as quickly as possible, and it would directly compensate those homes which experience power outages lasting more than 24 hours.
I have power, full gas tank & plenty of canned, frozen food… I went out for beer yesterday and it’s the Wild West in the Houston streets. But it’s not the politicians fault, they told us to prepare and some people didn’t listen. A cat 1 could cause some damage to power lines and when you have a strong cat 1 going thru and area of 7 million people, a sprawling metropolis with vast amounts of power lines that need repair it’s bound to leave the center point people with the hands full
Where are the other energy companies? In Florida Duke Energy just left yesterday. This is a failure. Duke Energy comes out and trim trees over power lines. Time to ask questions from these electric companies. 😢😢
It's not going to take weeks. They brought in three times as many people as they did for the storm in may. We will probably see another five or six hundred thousand houses restored today. As well as many gasoline and propane refill sources.
I've lived here since 1960. This is normal. This is what living with hurricanes means. It's why the area used to be so inexpensive compared to the rest of the country
It is ridiculous how this country's infrastructure has degraded. This was a cat 1. Now, I would expect something like this out of a 5. I've never understood why they insist on running power lines overhead. Large cities like new York have theirs, underground. Not saying that would prevent an outage. But it would sure help lessen the damage.
I’m going to sell my house and leave Houston. The place is terrible. It used to be bearable because it was cheap but everywhere is expensive now. Might as well move somewhere nice
I have not seen a repair crew in our area yet. Or anyone doing an examination of the damage. We have two poles down just in a 1/4 mile area. With trees laying on many more lines. I try to stay in and off the roads due to intersections being out.
How is Abbott's Asian vacation going? Did he get quality time to spend with his favorite Bangkok Ladyboys or was he to busy "running" from his responsibility as a governor. Any word from California Cruz? How's his vacation from having to deal with a hurricane going? I hope the weather is cooperating for the sweet & lovely 🤮 Ted the vacationing podcast man.
Centerpoint takes 3 days to assess based on how many area are still being assessed right now on day 3. I'm going to get a petition sign to fire the heads of centerpoint along with their spokesperson even their spokesperson looked lazy slow providing non answered answers. This BS of we need to assess before we work on stuff what about the excuse of a tracker that hasn't worked in 2 months You're only answers we can try to do better this company is quick to collect money quick to charge people but incredibly slow when people's lives are at risk. We need to stand up and do something about this
When you recover from this, start stockpiling emergency food, water, medical supplies, building supplies. Get ready for the next inevitable hurricane ASAP. Please. You know more come.
Build underground electric. If we can do it in KY then you can do it in TX. 80 mph windstorm remnants from Ike came through, no power loss. Ice storm came through, no power loss. And stopping planting trees with shallow roots. Your soil is too soggy anyways, even on a dry day.
@@mike_w-tw6jd ….ocean cables are different than tearing up roadways and such for cables in the muddy ground. Houston SHOULD do something of the like, but they’re never gonna do it all at once. Not until the companies are under threat. And even then, the groundwater level can still present problems.
The water table in Houston can be very close to the surface after big storms. The underground pipes don't have to be water resistant. They have to be waterproof. There are many legacy neighborhoods with polls running through the backyards and it would cost a lot of money which would raise our electric bills all the time. I won't give you advice on blizzards.
Also. We went through Hurricane Harvey, the Ice Storm and 2 tornados had power a few hours later. This was literally just a wind storm with fences down in our area and we don't have power? 🤣🤣 Centerpoint can goto hell
That’s crazy. So sad that people die because those criminals just want to safe money. They didn’t want to pay “stand by” fees to out of town crews and just didn’t care. 12000 “available” crews they’ve been talking about for the past 3 days just made it to town today. Corporate greed at its finest here. Unfortunately nothing will change since people who have power to change things already in their pockets. People should boycott them.
@@tamhead1 ….feels like this is done on PURPOSE…for some evil reason. They just want to watch as they killed the people here. I am currently in another State but still have my house in Houston. I will fly back next Thursday. Hopefully, the power will be restored to my subdivision! I am in the Southwest area (next to Sugarland)!
@CanTho2022 I am also of the mind that there are other things at play here. I think they are testing the grid at our expense. Last summer it was heat tested, this summer it's wind. The storm took a wild turn right turn in their defense...but the lack of concern is actually off putting. All the elderly folks just went through this.
@@tamhead1 ….Agreed!! I have live through the flood of Alicia in 2000, Hurricane Katrina (hit Louisiana) & Rita in 2005, Hurricane Ike (2008 that lasted a MONTH without power in my neighborhood)! That was THE WORST, Freeze of 2021 ( NO power and water). I feared so much for my father at the time. He passed away last year. I planned to sell the house but couldn’t find another place better. I have had it with Houston…
We are are across the street from Willow Ridge why is it that you cut the school lights on when NOBODY IS THERE!! When our apartments is right across the street!!!!! There are elderly people over here
Where the hell is center point now ?.. 3 day from now without power…??. Fort bend county need to know when we have the power back..?? This is so evil to treat people living in 100 degree without power in 3 day and now still no power yet.. what the hell….how lies they are….!!
Saw all those trucks today parked near Cypress Rosehill off 99, but none of them moving..... all just parked and off. So when do they plan on sending out the crews?
Have you read the comments? These zombies are making excuses for Abbot and Cruz no matter what the situation. They are so embedded in the cult that Cruz could literally be turning the power off himself and they would still kiss his feet. Texas is the center of the cult.
Yesterday they said that their outage map was down. And it would be quite a while before it back up and running. Now their showing you an outage map? WTF.
I betcha all the senior managers at Centerpoint have natgas powered whole house generators for themselves. Their families are comfy and fine. Refrigerator is humming along Probably got a good deal from installers 2nd time to post ...KHOU suppressed version 1.0
ENTERGY - up here in Montgomery County, Texas Just built a 2nd station off 1097 and WE ARE ALL WITH OUT POWER ! THIS ISNT 1ST TIME , THE FREEZE , LAST MONTH 6 HOUR NO POWER & IM ON an emergency oxygen list !!! Gas stations are hours long or NO GAS ! IF U DIDNT PREPARE YOUR OUT OF LUCK !!
This is what regulations and regulators are for. Blaming CenterPoint is well, pointless. Utilities are permitted to be monopolies in exchange for stricter regulations, because customers of profit seeking monopolies depend on their regulators to keep the companies honest.
This storm isn't texas first rodeo so why haven't we got this power deal fixed. At this pace my children's children will still be out of power when it rains.😂😢😅 come on let's show the U.S. we texans got this.
We get updates and numbers of outages, places and dates and excuses. We get offered cooling shelters, But no one tells us WHY we are not being helped. Why the trucks make an appearance but do nothing, then leave to go park somewhere and "wait for orders". It is criminal and cold blooded. Bottom line, Who is responsible for this repeated catastrophy? Why are we paying high electric bills and getting less than poor service when we NEED it.
Cheers to the line men in the field actually doing the work! To Hell with Centerpoint management!! They dropped the ball, the linemen picked up the fumble!!
One thing I can't believe nobody mentioned is a wet shirt. The water evaporating from the fabric acts just like an air conditioner. It works so well you always know when the fabric has dried out because you suddenly feel much hotter! Of course it works best in circulating air. Wet t-shirt in an outdoor shady area will help you stay cool as a cucumber.
When you live on the coast, there is a thing called a "Battery Bank" that would be a worthwhile investment, especially if you don't drive a new car with a USB charging or something.
We would have power had they not cut our line...can't even get anyone on the emergency line, nor any of the lineman we have asked...this is insane,it took the last lineman from prior storm 10 minutes and I pray that man gets blessed beyond messure, but these causing more issues shame on them!!
I pray hope one day to escape leave out of Houston for all eternity! I can not take this damn shit anymore longer that its hard to take care of myself without having full electricity! Anywhere but Houston or anywhere where Hurricanes Tornadoes Mudslides Wildfire and Earthquakes happens!
CenterPoint is a monoply and their behavior needs to be addressed. Their lack of maintenance adds to outages. Our cables are buried so no wind - why is electricity out??? I think CP cuts users so the numbers of users who have real problems are eschewed. I have requested trees to be trimmed in right-of-right - these trees have not been trimmed in over 8 years. At that time they left cut limbs. I requested trimming in April to be done before first storm. Nothing yet!!!
Major electrical outages like this will continue to be an issue in Texas during seasons of extreme temperatures. Hundreds of millions of dollars in produce gone to waste. Thousands of lives at stake due to medical equipment at home failing, or hospitals losing power when back up generators fail after a few days. They need to advise a plan to meet the insane increase in use of electricity in the state. Millions of people using air conditioners more often due to continual record numbers of heat during the summer. You can't just warn people about usage. You either need to enforce it (not to extreme levels like California's previous water restrictions) or create a new technology/grid that can sustain such demands.
If they had properly warned the entire metro area and called it a cat 2 people wouldn’t be so mad because we would have been better prepared generally speaking of course
No cooling centers where I am , I don’t have transportation, called 311 and was told that I am not in the zone for free transportation to any cooling centers listed. Not sure why my zip and address is in Houston Harris County, 77073. I guess we will just melt away!!
Every power outage we saw same comments and complains. There is no action taken from government and industry. Sad. Ordinary people suffering and no body care to do something.
its not just center point its the politicians that allow them to make donations to campaign funds and suddenly poof ....we need real improvements... lots of people had trees fall on lines... then start slowly putting the lines where possible underground.... tearing up the street for new telephone or water lines drop whatever lines you can in... maybe equip more homes with solar, wind and batteries....
Centerpoint and the flood control district needs to be overhauled. This is unacceptable. It cant get too hot, it cant get too cold, we have to stay in the goldilocks zone for things to work. Thanks Centerpoint for making Texas a third world country.
10AM July 11th Still no power in NORTH HOUSTON. We don’t have basic electricity another city is looking better. Cooling centers are trash we need power
Looks like Texas minimalist approach to maintaining their power grid is not working out so great. your governor is over in Asia studying how to build a high-speed rail system. Just a suggestion he may want to figure out how to have a reliable power grid first?
For the future: Get some rain barrels. I have 4 and know several ways to purify the water. Also store some water all the time. There is no excuse to not have a week of stored water when you live in hurricane territory.
I noticed that you reran the story of the elderly man without power. That clip is more than a day old. Don't you think you should have checked on him before to see if his power was restored before you ran this for effect?
Hey , lay off the pole guys. Those guys deserve a freakin medal. I’ll say this. If u live in Houston or surrounding area know this. U live in loss of power capital of America. Every one should own a 2000 watt generator, cord , 5000 btu ac. Those guys are heroes. Your own fault if u didn’t have those 3 things. And know this thank goodness bucees gave generators. It should be mandatory for all new gas stations to have em and we need all gas stations to upgrade with generators. Thank the lord beaver out gen’s on his stores. They deserve a medal!!!!
They missed read this😢😢 This was not a category one impossible ain’t no way literary “ain’t” (excuse the bad grammar) This storm reminds me of hurricane Alicia frfr
