Seems like drivers are getting hooked on the Redcat Wendigo and so is John. During his initial review, John Holmes really put the Wendigo through its paces which included smashing it into a tree while ripping it around the Holmes Hobbies course. This cause a front tower break so to start off this video, John is going to show you how to swap out this part. Then we move onto the good stuff! Ripping out the factory sensorless brushless system and installing a Holmes Hobbies brushless system selection. What is it? Sure, we’ll tell you here, but you have to promise to watch the video. We’ll be dropping a Castle Creations Mamba X esc into this rig along a Puller Pro 540L sensored brushless motor. Need to upgrade the power system on your Wendigo or any other rock racer? Been into RC cars since 1984. Just picked up a used Axial SC2 to dip a toe into the crawler world. Scouting around RU-vid an ran across your vids. Have to say I enjoy and learn much with every new one you release. Hope to pick up a rock racer next since I'm a drag racer at heart. Thanks and keep up the great work Sir

I broke my wendigo 15 minutes in to the first run, snapped the pin in the u joint on the short driveshaft from transmission to transfer case. My fire team took me five minutes to snap a rear axle just flying across my yard on the back wheels

A suggestion: I use a paper towel to put small piece on, and I lay then in a simulated pattern so I can see them easily, they don't roll around, and you know where each goes.

One of my first runs with a Traxxas emaxx many years ago ended in a kiss with a tree at full throttle. Took out a lot more than just a shock tower. That is when I learned that when you are coming toward yourself you turn opposite compared to going the other way....

I really like your products :) 5 slots, brushless and servos, it just performes so well! Only ESC where I keep the on/off switch, is on the hobbywing 1080, have never had any problems with the esc or the buttons, and the oldest HW 1080 I have, has done a 100-150 miles on the trails without failing.

Have the Gen 8 and i went through 3 sets of v1 portals breaking and then another set of v2 before going metal. Then 2 sets of portal input gears until the HD came out. Havent broken any axle parts since the upgrades.

Hey John, thanks again for the video. Right now I am sitting in my garden, enjoying your video while drinking a cocktail. Life is strange, but so far manageable. I both like the technical aspects as much as your thoughts on life in general. I am working from home, my mother in law keeps my son in check, and I am spending a fortune on RC parts. I just finished a 2.2 Wraith kit, although „finished“ does not really fit, this is going to be a never ending story of modifications! Talking about rock racers: Do you ever plan to build larger scale motors? I need a sensored motor for my 1:6 Super Rock Rey (750kv stock) that‘s shorter than the 800kv new castle motor. Your support guy said you don‘t have anything in stock, but maybe in the future?

Broke the shock towers first time out on my Redcat Camo X4. I zigged when I should have zagged and ran under the front tire of my 1/1 at 30 mph. Ouch. No. I wasn’t trying to break it. Only four screws per side on the Camo.

So would this motor do well in a trx6 stock gearing? or would it break shit on 3S? (edit) would it have high temps on the esc or motor? would a mamba x and traxxas 25c 3S 50000mah be able to drive it? After bashing with my 2700kV puller pro, stock gearing, the motor is cool to touch and I have yet to hear the esc fan turn on, but it's only gotten up to 80f here thus far.

Get the B-link and use your phone. The field card, I think is an extra $10 over the free USB interface (compared to the $50 B-link), can't set throttle curve points or auxiliary switch settings. The B-link is great for testing settings on the mamba x because you can just push updates to the esc test, rinse, repeat. @@HolmesHobbies No need to cut, just tap in a torx into the cone. If they strip that easily, it shouldn't take much to do. Then apply apply a little heat and the screws should come right out.
