Good One. I have a question regarding roles. Why are we having multiple security roles? Anyhow we can setup the permissions in a single security role itself? what is the real use of assigning multiple roles to a user? Which role the system will consider on assigning multiple roles to a user? Correct my understanding if I am wrong! Thank you very much!

Thank you. There’s is something not clear. In our Use Case we want each Team to only edit data rows associated with that team and only have view access to rows not in their team. How does Dataverse configure this?

thanks for details. I have a doubt What is difference giving a *Security Role* as User or as BU or as Org level to *Create*. I know there are difference in giving it in Read/Write/Update etc. But in Create I can't see any difference.

There are two different metrics in play here, what privileges are granted, and what BU is using this role. They are overlapping, but mean the same regardless of the other metric. Create means you can add a record to a table. Read means you can read all the records in the table. Write means you can edit all the records in the table. The options refer to whether this role affects a single BU or the whole organization. If you are just getting started, forget BUs and just make all privileges Organization, meaning wherever you apply this role, it's the same permissions no matter who is assigned the role.

I am able to connect to Dataverse from SSMS but in read only. No way to do inserts from SSMS? Also does Dataverse allow anything similar to plain text SQL user connections?

Hi Naman, You may ask your Power platform administrator to provide you system customizer (default role which gives contribute rights) as you wish to create a new table. If your administrator explicitly manage separate contributor role then ask him/her to go to -->that specific security roles --> edit --> go to customization tab --> click on Entity (create -read/write/delete) circles so that security role can be granted contribute right and then finally add you as an user to that security role. I hope above should help !

For custom entity Product you said Parent Child Business Unit will have all sort of permissions, this statement itself is very confusing what does it really mean ? Can you show by example ? You know create, read , write, delete and so on aren't all sort of permissions rather these are called standard privilege types and different colors levels on each of those is a scope / reach of that privilege type. Any user having this role can view, edit, delete a Product record belonging to any of his Parent - Child Business Units. Now point is that how to determine a Product is belonging to Parent - Child Business Units ? May be you can answer ? It's good to make videos and share , but always explain concept then demonstrate by example, if you yourself is confused about any concept then no harm in openly saying in the video. Somebody can help you by writing in the comments
