Tommy: “let me guess, a giant monster grew and is attacking the city?” Blue Ranger: “You’ve done this before haven’t you?” Tommy: “once or twice”. BIGGEST UNDERSTATEMENT IN PR HISTORY!!!!!!!!!!!
I always loved that meta joke since it's both funny that he was on point but also displays his experience. Gives those starting with Dino Thunder the idea of his history before the next episode.
I gotta figure a lot of the veteran Rangers are like that as time goes on. Like during major attacks in other cities Rangers like Adam are just casually sipping tea in a cafe like: “Huh. It’s Tuesday.”
@@mitchellcowan2500 Considering how often the world gets in peril I wouldn't be surprised that many of the older teams just kind of shrug things off after a while. You can only go through so many evil villains before it starts getting redundant.
The fact that Tommy mentions he doesn't wear that much black so he goes shopping to fix that after his first morph... I can't help but laugh. That's an amazingly subtle joke.
Elsa: "Aren't you a little too old for this, Tommy?" Tommy Oliver: "I may be old... But I can still pull it off! *DINO THUNDER, POWER UP!"* One of the best oneliners from Jason David Frank himself.
Tommy: "You can rewrite DNA on the fly, and you're using it to turn people into dinosaurs? But with tech like that, you could cure cancer! " Mesogog: "But I don't want to cure cancer. I want to turn people into dinosaurs."
Fun fact: Kira's actress, Emma Lahana, actually audition for the role of Tori for Ninja Storm. Another fact: Apparently both Emma Lahana and James Napier, who played Kira and Conner respectively, both distances themselves from Power Rangers, for Lahana is because people keep referring to her to by her character's name instead of her actual name. For James he only needed money for his company that he wanted to produce.
I mean given how Tommy got his start, and what we see in both this season and his future appearances, “Trying to combine Dinosaur DNA with technology” sound suspiciously like Tommy was trying to either restore the Mighty Morphin’ powers or recreate something similar.
@@KhanhNguyen-mh5ecCouldve already been repaired honestly, since he was able to morph with difficulty in In Space. It’s possible the Space rangers were able to, with the help of Billy, repair the powers.
Dino Thunder really hits a lot harder after you realize this was his final series. Sure, he still made cameos afterward; the first was the second crossover with SPD and Dino Thunder (even though he stays morphed the whole time since he could not fly back to New Zealand at the time, but it's the thought that counts), following that was the infamous legendary battle, and finally dimensions in danger marked his last appearance. But Dino Thunder was his final official series. RIP JDF
Apparently this season was meant to be the final season. Honestly, there is a lot of finality to it. Bringing back one of the original six MMPR and making him a mentor, the whole flashback episode, Tommy fighting his past selves, giving Super Sentai a nod, and Easter eggs like Day of the Dino. It would've been a solid ending tbh. But I'm glad it wasn't.
It does kinda suck that the recent re-uploads and the last recent season have to reflect on the rather tragic parts of the show, but I'm glad you're being respectful to them. Thank you, Linkara. And in my head canon tommy was potentially trying to recreate the og powers given the similar designs
26:53 No. I think in the world of Power Rangers that “Dinosaur” much like “Ninja” is one of the fundamental, primal energies of the universe. Much like Magic, Gravity and Friendship.
Fun notes about the actors for this season. The Batman references are particularly funny since Connor’s actor, James Napier, is the grandson of the actor who played Alfred in the 60’s Batman show. Emma Lahana, who played Kira, was married for a time to Anthony Starr, who plays Homelander in The Boys.
I don't know what made me think about this and return to the video a month later. But it's interesting to think that Lothor's fate was ultimately unwritten. He got put in a jar, maybe he got destroyed with the island or sent away to rot. But this was the major villain of Ninja Storm and a family member to multiple people in the cast, and no resolution. Consider that Dino Thunder had to constantly adapt to the ongoing Sentai, this was New Zealand's first crossover attempt, AND Power Rangers SPD ended up doing 2 crossovers. I think they at least had Lothor on standby as a possible second crossover that just didn't come together because the Sentai footage didn't make that easy. Also weird to think that if Lothor's actor was alive past 2018, that whole Beast Morphers/Venjix thing would have led to very odd speculation threads and videos. Just entire online conversations about the possibility of Lothor returning for Dino Fury.
Hailey does explain that she met Tommy in college, and probably told her he was a ranger during that time. Also, considering there was 8 years between Turbo and Dino Thunder, it does kinda make sense that Tommy changed his interest during college.
I know that this might not be important information for everyone (especially Linkara), but the Batman comment is even funnier when you know that Conner's actor, James Napier is actually the grandson of Alan Napier, a.k.a. Alfred from the Adam West Batman series.
“Tommy explains she went through an invisi-portal, which was completely visible, so the name makes no sense” Ah no other sentence encapsulates Power Rangers like this does.
They got pretty creative for the changes In Abaranger, yeah Abareblack is basically the driving force of the show so makes sense to have him be Tommy. Zeltrax isn't a character he is cursed armor that drives its wearer evil, and its worn by multiple characters, with Elsa's counterpart being the one who wears it the most. Those monsters that work with Lothor in the team up are actually unused comic relief villains who create the monsters
And thats what I love about Dino Thunder and Abaranger they both do their own thing telling different stories flawed or not, different concepts, different personalities a like.
Think my favorite lil Stock Footage joke from this season is early on when Connor says "Ohh no they're attacking Little Tokyo" since the monster stock footage was so very clearly in Japan that this city called Reefside just has a Little Tokyo community to it. Very silly and like that had to be for older fans surely.
Fun fact, Snide's costume in Dino Charge is actually an upgraded version of Zeltrax's sentai counterpart The costume originated from the movie they used for Grid Connection in Beast Morphers Basically it's Zeltrax Maximus
You know what’s crazy? Looking at the black ranger outfit again after some time at 15:30, that gold fits. So, the statement regarding the main three suits now makes sense to me. However, I can see why the white kinda fits on their helmets and visors because it’s also supposed to represent the “mouth/teeth”, but that gold works better. Then again, it also helps with the white ranger outfit with the black pattern and the red visor, but that outfit also has the advantage of not having the silly (but still badass) dinosaur footprint logo on the chest.
“I was unaware that dragons were dinosaurs” I mentioned this before: in the Middle Ages, some believed that dinosaur bones were the bones of dragons. Secondly, Trent’s zord is modeled after a tepuxaura; a kind of pterosaur
also, the Japanese word for dinosaurs can also be translated as "ancient dragons", which is why many people were confused when the sentai season "Ryusoulger" (The season which would become Dino Fury) got announced, because it was believed to be a dragon themed show, nto a dinosaur one due to the weird first translation,s
One of my top favorite Power Rangers series. Also JDF was probably the nicest celebrity I’ve ever met. I remember going to a Comic Con in Rhode Island and when I went to his panel I remember him saying he didn’t care if we recorded the panel. I asked him what the hardest thing to do on set was and he said “Not to actually punch somebody” later that day I went to his booth and he gave me and my sister free autographs we didn’t ask for. He was the most selfless celebrity I’ve ever met and when I heard he passed away I was in complete shock
You know, Dino Thunder was my introduction to Tommy Oliver. So you could say that his passing made me want to revisit the series again and I'm glad that I did. It does make his characters mental state hit a bit differently today though.
29:30 my headcanon is that the morphing grid is sustaining him given how its power often keeps the rangers going in otherwise hostile environments I’d imagine its energy’s would help keep a ranger from starving to death.
I look forward to the review of SPD. The fact that Sky objects to the idea of Syd being a red ranger is even funnier nowadays since the Power Rangers series closest to when SPD is set is Cosmic Fury.
Not to mention that it'll be the first season since Time Force where Linkara doesn't have to open a video discussing a tragedy involving someone from that season - you know, fingers crossed.
@@stephenholloway6893 I don't recall it coming up in the original review when the actress had passed away in 2010 so before it was made in 2014, although I might be wrong. I'd imagine it would be more in passing [like Trini in the Mighty Morphin season 1 review].
@jamesatkinsonja To be fair in the original season 1 review of MMPR I don't think he didn't referenced her death either just in the new version so most likely if he's doing it again it would be when he gets done with the Mystic Force remake. Point is that at the very least he has acknowledged ranger deaths eventhough is Pua and JDF's cases they were recent or other issues like with Cole's actor in the Wild Force remake so it's possible that if he dies bring it up it would be there. Sure he originally did Mystic Force in 2013 and she passed away in 2010 but at the time he didn't really want to bring up any cast members death.
Does anyone else feel that Dini Thunder is the perfected season of Mighty Morphin? Wise leader with an interesting backstory, kids that feel like teenagers that go on an actual arc, a story that evolves. Hell even the evil ranger arc is arguably better paced and more intriguing, I always thought Tommy would have been better not knowing he was the green ranger and make it a little more tragic. It just feels like it learnt from every mistep of MMPR .
I have a head cannon that he became a doctor and studied science so he could have a life past his ranger duties, while also using that knowledge to construct the command center as well as the rangers weapons morphers and zords after he found the dino gems. Although something i kind of dont get is why the gems chose 3 teenage kids instead of a veterine ranger that found them. Maybe it might be because since, as i said, tommy wanted to move on from his ranger life, the dino gems did not choose him for that reason. But it's just a theory
Kat was originally also going to return but they couldn't afford to bring both Frank and Sutherland. She either would have filled the Haley role or the Elsa role after being brainwashed if she filled the Elsa role, man it would have been straight out of Abaranger, where Elsa's counterpart was actually the black ranger's wife (his brother in law also wore the zeltrax armor in early episodes and his daughter was possessed by the main villain for a good bulk of it)
It's a nice idea but it probably was best in general just going with Tommy solo, like how Linkara said 'the hexagon' idea in the ninja storm video wasn't feasible at the time [as oppose to more recent series like Cosmic Fury where streaming allows more references/returning characters as new viewers can catch up easier].
38:26, “it also has some *Badly* used explosions which is something I’ll get into next time” Can we get a hype fest started for his remake of the SPD review and getting ready to witness his “updated” Explosion Rant all these years later from his original SPD review? :)
I'm adding and refining it to better explain what I mean by it, especially in regards to editing and repetition of the shots. 10+ years helps me be a better critic, hopefully! XD
Starting with a Sentai Fun fact. The Zords were actually full sentient and could talk (making it better they weren’t destroyed there and just went back to Dino Earth and yes that was a thing) and the second time the Stego went with Abarekiller (the White Ranger) it’s because he liked the power of being Killer-Oh instead of just being a surfboard for Aberan-Oh (the Megazords) Regarding the Trent losing his powers and having to get them back from the clone. That very plot line would happen the very next year in Kamen Rider where in the fourth Rider started off under the control of one of the villains because the powers came from sealing monsters in to cards and the Ace card used to transform him had a weaker seal to cause the monster within to take control. Then the card broke and the monster was freed allowing then young hero control of himself again and he helped the tertiary Rider to seal the monster once again and this time allowing the kid full control.
@maxmeidl4909 If that's the case then what about Ninja Storm since it's in their "universe" as well. Let alone how Tommy managed to get information on his time as a ranger from MMPR to Turbo then the 2nd half of Turbo onward to Wild Force. So would all of those seasons took place on "Dino Earth" as well? If Disney chose to make the zords talk as well then maybe at best but I doubt it in this case.
All the comments in this show about Tommy being this old-timer who's still got it are kind of hilarious when you consider the character couldn't be older than thirty at this point. 😂 Also, the most recent sourcebook for the Power Rangers Roleplaying Game includes a lot of content from Dino Thunder and Dino Charge, and the flavour text for the Tyrannodrones' statblock offers an explanation for why Tommy made them: they were originally created to be a labour force until Mesogog took control of them for his army. Don't know why Tommy decided we needed biomechanical dinosaur mutants for that, but it's there.
Dino Thunder is arguably where I started with the series. I watched bits and pieces of MMPR as a younger child, but DT is the first season I watched all the way from it's debut to the end. I remember watching an episode where Kira works at a TV station and a kid's show mascot (a guy in a fish costume) is turned into a monster, for 3 straight weeks. I'm guessing they didn't have new episodes then. Rest in Peace, JDF. We miss you dearly, regardless if we got to meet you irl. You are a hero, even without the power.
38:06 I would counter that the Ranger battle in part 2 made up for some of that. You notice that the Ninja Storm Rangers are almost all beaten back or knocked down by the evil forces, and the Dino Rangers have to help them out. Shane gets knocked down, and Connor goes Triassic Battilizer to help him. Cam is sent sprawling and Trent jumps in to help him. Yeah, the Thunders do well against Zurgane, but it’s Tommy who gets to deliver the finishing blow.
It was sad hearing Jason David Frank passing away in 2022 Like beforehand Kevin Conroy who was the best Batman voice passed away and Nicki aycox who played Meg in supernatural season 1 passed away
I feel like Elsa and Zeltrax kinda break the streak of the whole “evil villain generals who are still likable and charming”. Now, don’t get me wrong, they are still enjoyable to watch and I like them. But when you compare them to the duke orgs from Wild Force or even Lothor’s nieces from Ninja Storm, these two really come off as less humorous and more straightforward evil. I just thought that I’d like to point that out.
What's funny about the comment about the Tyrannodrones being related to the Stingwingers... they actually recycled the costumes of the Stingwingers to make them.
I loved that in the first episode Tommy gets in his Jeep to get away from the robo-T-Rex, and he takes the time to buckle his seat belt and even looks at the camera to ask what was the point.
Am I the only one who hears a major difference with Mesagog’s voice after he and Anton get separated? 8:16 & 36:01- smooth and calm 42:55- aggressive and reptilian
I went back to watch Lost and Found in Translation because of this video and while it's not remotely close to the best bottle episode a show has ever had, it certainly was a unique way of saving budget while also getting ahead of the burgeoning online communities that had Sentai VS Power Rangers arguments on early forums and such. I wish we had gotten a similar sort of low-budget one to see what other reactions we would've gotten out of other teams, especially after seeing this team freaked out by the Abaranger team knowing the morph call and posing that no other people should have seen by that point.
It shows just how much kids television devolved that it took ten and a half years to reach 500 episodes, only to not reach 1000 at all in the next NINETEEN years
I wouldn't say devolved but it shows how much shorter content has gotten first you had the 50 ep rule so the show would be syndicated then it go to 40 but then for animation 20 eps became a requirement and weekly airing (unless you where an anime) didn't happen and then you have 12 eps per season for animated shows even with invincible a teen show it has a short ep count
It's not so much 'devolved' as changing practices/ideas given the earlier Saban shows were around 50 episodes per season but the later Disney ones were 30+ then that went down to 20 for Samurai onwards. Similar to how most 'network' adult TV shows used to have long 20+ episode seasons [the original Star Trek had a 29 episode season 1] but HBO/Streaming often has only around 10 episodes [like with Cosmic Fury].
One other reason that there was the White Ranger clone might have been so they wouldn't have to make Trent evil for most of the series, which in Power Rangers, makes sense since I think it would be painful to see Trent struggle with brainwashing for a whole season. I read that the reason why he stayed evil for as long as he did in Abaranger was that there were initially no plans to have him be redeemed, but toy sales deterred them from keeping him an enemy.
He actually died near the end of Abaranger, the white ranger, aka abarekiller in the third to last episodes, fun fact he died in the exact episode count as kamen rider 555 secondly rider who was an big asshole
Good to see this back. When Dino Thunder originally came out it was the first series I'd watched in years (I checked out early on in Turbo, oddly before the veteran Rangers left) and yeah, I came back for Tommy... and stayed for Kira too, which is apparently a common response. Jason David Frank will always be my hero. May the Power protect him forever.
19:04 Actually, Tommy did not get the Stegazord back. Basically, he was able to mess with the White Ranger’s control of the Zord enough to separate it from the Drago Zord, but even he admitted the White Ranger’s hold over it was too strong and he couldn’t break it, meaning the White Ranger kept the Stegazord.
My first and absolute favorite season of the show. Conner, Ethen, and Kira are some of my favorite characters and rangers of all time, and my exposer to what a teenager could be like and how one can grow, especially Ethen as I was a nerd growing up myself. Trent too became my favorite Ranger ever for his character arc and because he was a fellow artist. And Tommy. I doubt I’m alone in this experience, but because this was my first season, I did not have the context of MMPR or anything else involving his character, so this was my first exposure, and I remember being…fascinated. I saw him as this almost mysterious figure, a veteran with an intense past that we only glimpsed (because I was very small and dumb child when I saw this so I somehow didn’t connect there were shows before this) every so often, and that he knew so much more then any of the other characters to the point where I wanted to know more. Both as his time as a ranger, and his past in relation to the other characters in this show. I just really love this season.
Lol yes career changes can be a thing but I recall even that being a joke with Tommy way back then. Odd dice rolls explains why he's been into Kim, then Kat, then racing, then paleontology, until finally becoming a multiversal punching bag with Lord Drakkon.
There has always been something that I don’t get in regards to the foot soldiers in this series; Tommy stated how they were originally made to help people. But, I can’t really think of how those things would be able to help people, except for maybe … scaring children into obeying their parents? Seriously, the tyranodrones are dark and ugly, I cannot imagine who would want those things helping them. In fact, they really are too dark and featureless, and they’re just scales and spikes, and because of that, I can’t even tell what kind of dinosaur they are supposed to be modelled after.
This might be controversial, but quite frankly, I think SPD is highly underrated as a season! Especially in the Disney era! Can’t wait for that video! The story of Sky is great! He wanted to make his father proud and that’s why he was so adamant about training!
I agree, Dino Thunder's theme is a lot of fun. I've found it stuck in my head several times over the last couple of days after rewatching some episodes. Hindsight is honestly a hilarious thing, because, when you said that line questioning Tommy about how normally someone would only think of merging Dino DNA and technology to become a villain, I immediately thought of Lord Drakkon from the Shattered Grid comics, made all the funnier since he IS an evil version of Tommy. Funnily enough, the reason I mentioned Dino Thunder's theme has gotten itself stuck in my head several times recently is because, 2 weeks ago, I happened to find Dino Thunder volume 1 at a charity store called Savers. Aside from the bottom of the cover being a little damaged, it worked fine and, since I'd already been watching volume one, since I didn't have volume 2, I watched my copy of volume 3 White Thunder, which I also got second-hand almost 2 decades ago now at one of my old primary school's Gala Days. So, watching Dino Thunder so much kinda got the theme stuck in my head for a while, not that I'm complaining, of course
- Tomy confirming he color codes his clothing on purpose is amazing - i love Lost & Found in Translation, it just give us a complete zoom out on Connor's character: yes, he's a himbo. yes, he's very quick to make wrong assumptions and keep saying them... but he's not a bad person & he's willing to be proven wrong & learn from it (sadly we didn't get any funny callback to Abaranger afterwards considering Connor binged the whole show) - honestly, i dig the Dino Thunder suits, you can clearly see they're a tribute to the Mighty Morphin & would look wrong without the logo - is actually pretty funny how much of an Overachiever thev Mighty Morphin team were back in their teens compared to the Dino Thunder gang - thing is Disney was still publishing games when the show came out so they could have had Ethan reference those at least
I maintain my headcanon that the reason why Tommy was trying to fuse Dino DNA with technology was to make the Biozords, I think Tommy was always planning on making a new team of power rangers, or being able to when the situation called for it. The Tyranodrones, in addition to simply being an experiment, could act as assistants to those, helping fight foot soldiers or evacuate civilians, similar to how the original Dino Fury rangers were implied to have used the Hengemen. It's just that the whole situation with Anton meant that things didn't quite go the way he planned.
Linkara: "If power rangers was made in the eighties, Tommy could have had a mullet" Me: "Some would actually argue that JDF's green ranger days had him rocking a Doctor drakken style mullet rather than the motor ed style Mullet you were probably talking about."
Believe it or not, I was re-watching the entire HOPR series when I saw this one in my feed. I'd gotten all the way up to Dino Fury when I saw this one. I do buy into the theory of Tommy draining his Zeo crystal to forge the Dino Morphers, but not entirely draining it. Unless he re-formed the powers and weapons from scratch, he would still need sections of it to make the Zeo powers for his Master Morpher.
I fell off PR during WF and NS, but I got back to it in the latter half of DT and it was primarily because of Tommy. It was also DT that brought me to the likes of Rangerboard and online PR fandom to discuss everything PR as well as learning about Super Sentai for the first time.
9:21-9:26: So Tommy is essentially the Kamina of Power Rangers. No wonder the Megazord has a giant drill! Edit: Yes, I know that Gurren Lagann came out 3-4 years after Abaranger and Dino Thunder, so the joke doesn't technically count. I can dream, dammit!
Thanks for making these, Linkara, they're some of my favorite videos just in general, like a nice blend of retrospective and the fun/good aspects of nostalgia Plus I love rewatching them when I'm trying to go to sleep, it feels like I tired myself out doing something fun like a kid again 😂🙏😇
It's always so cool to see the episodes from my childhood. The first Power Rangers media I ever watched was the movie because my mom always let us rent movies when we were sick, but the first two series I caught were Wildforce and Dino Thunder.
Most likely on why Tommy gave up on his driving career after he left Turbo is one of these factors A he chose to gave it up for education B the team he was on closed and he couldn't get another ride because of skill C he didn't bring in the money needed to continue his career D at least any combination of the 4. Or E all 4.
I remember the shock when it was announced JDF was coming back as Tommy. Immediately made the show good. And his arc is pretty solid too. The season as a whole has its flaws but a very solid addition to the PR series. Top 10 maybe even top 5
Great video, It's even better the second time around. Dino Thunder was my first and still is my favourite season also it was my introduction to Jason David Frank as Tommy Oliver. 13:14-14:45 And it sparked my interest to check out all of the previous seasons prior to Dino Thunder thanks to the episode 'Legacy of power'🦖⚡ R.I.P Jason David Frank you will be missed.
I’m just going to come out and say it: Dino Thunder is a bit overrated. The rangers were high school students, their powers were from dinosaurs, and we were bringing back Tommy, it really felt like a rehash of MMPR, but it was a rehash done correctly. Plus, even though there were some parallels and similarities to mmpr, there were still enough differences for it to be its own thing. Then again, I do remember another reviewer of Power Rangers labelling Dino Thunder as “a legacy series done right”, and it makes sense. So overall, even though this might not be an all-time favourite for me like it seems to be for a lot of other people, but I still enjoy it. Oh, and in case you really want to know, to me the most overrated PR series is RPM.
I remember really liking Dino Thunder. It was the first full Power Rangers season I'd seen in years and bringing in Tommy was the reason why. I only barely remember watching the original series, but even then I remember how cool Tommy was and seeing him join another Power Rangers team was pretty cool. The series itself still had fun characters, great action and some cool villains. The character analysis for Tommy is really great and fitting for how long he had worked as a Ranger, even though it's also sad to think about in relation to Jason David Frank's passing. I hope that he is at peace and his loved ones are doing okay.
Yes! Woo hoo! New video of Dino Thunder, well technically a new version of this video. I forgot to mention in my previous comments Linkara-AtopTheFourthWall that your original dialogue when you did your original videos back then that you've remembered your lines which is fantastic, and add new materials to this new video which is great. I'm looking forward to the next new video of S.P.D. and Mystic Force. I know you will take your time making these new videos, but I can wait. You're doing a great job.
i love dino thunder and abaranger, the former being my favourite pr series, and the latter being one of my favourite sentai seasons. they handled it so well, and in both my favourite is always the white ranger, trent and mikoto were both so cool, I do kind of wish trent also died, but I understand why they didn't do that
So, you know how you personally dislike the fact that Tommy x Kat was the endgame couple instead of Tommy x Kimberly? Well, coulda been much worse, because I know people who, after watching Dino Thunder, felt for years that the endgame couple was, in fact, going to be Tommy x Kira, which would be a TERRIBLE idea. For one thing, she's a teenager in this season, making it all kinds of squicky, but even if they waited until she was an adult to get together, there's still the issue that he was her high school teacher and mentor, meaning there would be clear power dynamics involved in their relationship from the get-go.
Bittersweet to look back on it after the fact. JDF moving away from the franchise to do his own thing rather than let the role define him ironically fits really well with your reading of Tommy accepting his own identity over that of the power. Really wish we'd gotten the chance to see what he had in mind for that beyond White Dragon.
Eh, kinda. JDF kinda threw his toys out the pram when it came to leaving Power Rangers. Saban refused to let him do a solo green ranger movie, so JDF threw a tantrum, quit the franchise and took his idea for the green ranger movie, modified it slightly and turned it into the White Dragon movie. Then found a company willing to give him as much money as he wanted to make it. At least that's what I've heard from various places
"I checked my closet this morning, and there's a serious shortage of black in there." That clip went through my head when Jason David Frank visited Ottawa Comicon years ago. Wanted to dress up, but didn't have the skill, or time to ranger up. So instead, I grabbed a legacy Zeo Morpher and dressed in all blue.
In hindsight there's several callbacks to Tommy's past either directly or indirectly with Conner for example getting an backup Megazord like in Zeo for Tommy that's mostly exclusive to the Red Ranger Tommy's Dino Thunder morpher via his Turbo days with the key and Trent becoming evil then good via Tommy's green ranger days. Plus Trent's color White just like Tommy was before he became Red.
This is my favorite Power Rangers Season. Bar none. In large part, it may be because it is the first I ever watched as a kid. I was six years old or so when I saw the Season Pilot on TV at my Grandmas house. And it absolutely blew me away back then. I still remember my jaw dropping to the floor when I watched that First Megazord Transformation in the Pilot. But an even bigger influence was Tommy mentioning that 'he had seen something like this before'. All I could think was "Huh?! What do you mean?! Where did you see this stuff before?! WHO ARE YOU?!" Keep in mind: I had no idea at that moment that other Power Rangers Seasons had existed beforehand. That Pilot was my first ever exposure to the Franchise. And Tommy's words just made me SO incredibly curious. And when I then watched that Clip-Show Episode early in the Season where they talk about the prior Seasons...well, let's just say that that is where a new Power Rangers Fan was born. Because you bet I wanted to learn and know more about the things that had come before then. And now, years later, I look back at this Season and find that even now, despite having seen the other Seasons too and knowing it's not perfect, it has not been replaced as my personal Number One. Great Heroes, an amazing Main Villain and just all around pure awesomeness, all the while being incredibly respectful to the Franchise's past. This is the Legacy Season Megaforce WISHES it had been...and I am so, so incredibly greatful that it was my Entry Point to the Franchise. I ADORE Power Rangers Dino Thunder, and I know I always will. *DINO THUNDER, POWER UP!!!*
An interesting fact about this season, well interesting to me, is that this is the first season since Zeo that has had no original US Zord footage, all of it's Sentai. From Turbo all the way to Ninja Storm has had at least one instance of original Zord footage. Turbo: The Turbo Megazord had original footage, and not just in the movie, of it saving those two cars from going over a cliff in that one filler episode that did a game of chicken. In Space: All the Zords had original footage of them being used to stop the astoroid Dark Spector sent to Earth, plus the Mega Winger had original footage in Countdown to Destruction when it was destroyed by Velocifighters. Lost Galaxy: It had several instanes, parts of Strataforce and Centarus rampage on Terra Venture in episode 20 is original footage, parts of the fight with Loyax are original footage, the Galaxy Megazord and Staro Megazord team up in the Power of Pink, and the last four episodes any Zord footage is original with the destructions of the Torrozord, Strataforce, and Centarus, as well as the Galaxy Megazord saving the colony from the crashing Terra Venture. Lightspeed Rescue: There's a brief bit of original footage of the Lightspeed Solorzord in the episode where the Demons revive Queen Banshira when Ryan jumped out of it, and all the footage of the Life Force Megazord and the Omega Mmegazord in the two part finale The Fate of Lightspeed is also original footage. Time Force: Parts of both of the Q-Rex's rampages when it's under the villians control in two sepearte episodes is original footage. Wild Force: A few bits of the battle of the Predazord and Animus vs Master Org fight is original footage. Ninja Storm: A few bits of the fight with Vexecus is original footage, sepecifically the parts involving the Thunder Zords destruction. Dino Thunder broke the trend. SPD would then restart it as a few bits of the final fight with Omni is original since Omni is an original US character, but after SPD we don't get any more original Zord footage until Dino Charge.
39:00 Considering the island fortress was destroyed, this does beg the question of what became of Lothor after being trapped in the jar. We never find out and now we never will.
@mattwo7 I doubt the jar escaped the island especially if the entrances were sealed when it was destroyed. Unless somehow the jar floated up years later he's practically tombed up jar and all underwater.
I will choose my words carefully as this is not the sort of subject to be flippant about. I've struggled with mental health for . . . probably my entire life actually; certainly the entirety of my adult life. "An endless battle that feels like it has no resolution" is a pretty apt description; given JDF's passing, the tragedy of it, it just changes the way one views the episode. To end positively though: you, the person reading this, are worth fighting for regardless of any roles or special powers you made have; in and of yourself you are worth it & deserve to see the version of yourself & the version of the world that makes believing that possible, even if you don't quite believe it now.
Tommy Zeo-less: I believe this is a 2-part theory. Yes, draining or using a vast amount of Zeo power to fuel/activate the dino gems makes sense. The 2nd is that Tommy is human. Flesh and bone. With the Zeo powers getting stronger as time passes, his physical body can only handle so much. Why? By all logic, Tommy should still be in his physical prime. If the show takes place alongside the year of its release (unless otherwise stated), then Tommy should be 26-27 years old. He graduated high school in 1997. He should be 18-19. In Forever Red, he's using Zeo powers in 2002 at age 24-25. Why is at age 26-27 is Zeo too much for such a physically fit man? Simply put, he's been through too much. MM powers, Ninja powers, Zeo, Turbo, time manipulation via magic, and probably the biggest factor, exposure to dark magicks. When under Rita's spells, he was exposed to those dark magicks but also the Sword of Darkness. A dark magic artifact with serious power. Tommy can't use the Zeo powers anymore without artificial help or regulation. This is where the master morpher comes from. It can siphon enough Zeo energy to be effective without killing Tommy. It can give what he can handle as he uses it. This can also explain why Tommy looks older than he should. More power exposure than what he should have experienced or been able to endure.
