There's more to that circle than you think. Believe it or not Toei made some shows back in the 70's, which were predecessors of Super Sentai..........that were actually Japanese takes on Marvel superheroes.
This is actually way over the top compared to usual Super Sentai. If you watch an episode of the MMPR JP dub and then compare it to Zyuranger you will see how dramatically different it is. The Japanese actors really dialed it up to try and match the tone of the American show.
Because the thought in of itself is an odd one. First the sentai was made, then MMPR was adapted from it, with it's own plot mind you, and was dubbed back into Japanese...
Ah, so Zack's powers are _actually_ derived from the film Manos: The Hands of Fate. Interesting source of power, though I see why it would be effective as a weapon.
Actually, it somewhat makes sense to dub it into Japanese because even though the morphed footage comes from ZyuRanger, the stories are different. It's pretty much like watching two different shows.
they practically created a separate continuity think of it as a Multiverse but like Metroid prime echoes fractured into two separate parts but occupy the same space time.
thats so weird, that the japanese actually dubbed this. theyre watching their own footage spliced with american footage, then redubbing it back to them..its like...woah.
10 American high school teenagers (8 boys + 2 girls) said when they're morph into Ben's Aliens from Ben 10 Exodisk: it's hero time! -Ghostfreak! -Upgrade! -Ripjaws! -Stinkfly! -Four Arms! -Grey Matter! -XLR8! -Diamondhead! -Wildmutt! -Heatblast! Disk mash! NB: 8 aliens identities are male teenagers, but XLR8 and Ghostfreak are females
So these are the actors from Zyuranger voicing their American counterparts? well not all obviously, I'm pretty sure they got a female actress to voice Trini. Unless Takumi Hashimoto is a beast at imitating a woman's voice. By the way, see how in 1:16 the dialogue doesn't match Jason's lips? Yeah, that's why I'm glad they made Power Rangers instead of dubbing the Sentai.
Reiko Chiba (who was the pink ranger in Zyuranger) dubbed the voice of her counterpart Kimberly, but not others. The Japanese voice of Rita was Machiko Soga, the actress who played Bandora/Rita on screen.
So, when Americans take a Japanese show and adapt it for the west, Japan adapts the adaptation so it can be for them again? Weird, but I like it. Well played, Japan.
Yes, it's true! In MMPR Tommy does not die at the end. Yellow Ranger is a girl. ;-) But we must admit that the first season, takes the original story Zyuranger (by changing a few small details ...) ^^
They are official VHS tapes of Japanese dubbed, they fairly common on yahoo auctions japan, if you want to get them you will need a middleman service to get them.
Fans have speculated that the masters of Sentai footage that Toei sent to Saban for that particular episode were bad, resulting in some color loss. It sounds likely to me.
