"You never stood a chance to begin with." That sentence was so powerful. "All his attempts to escape my grasps have failed, just as your attempts to stop me, failed..." This is some crazy good scripting. It just goes to show that every action has a consequence some more serious than others.
For anyone wanting the music, here it is: 0:04 - Resistance by High and Mighty Color 0:19 - Sadness and Sorrow v.2 by BlazingDragon 0:37 - Breakout by Immediate Music 2:11 - Heihachi from Tekken 4 Soundtrack* 3:04 - Sparking from Tekken 5 Soundtrack 5:06 - Sadness and Sorrow v.2 by BlazingDragon (same as 0:19) 7:07 - Star Babies from Super Mario Galaxy Soundtrack 8:15 - Story Left Untold by BlazingDragon *This is NOT Heihachi from Tekken Tag Tournament. The credits originally listed it as that, but I checked it. It's the one from Tekken 4.
I am revisiting this series after many years, and I wanted to mention some things I always loved about it. I love that Luigi is the main protagonist when the enemies are boos, and how quick he is to explain that Mario is possessed to Peach. Like he's a boo expert, as he should be. The use of these characters and the action is compelling. Normally I find action stuff boring, but the way it is carried out doesn't seem drawn out despite there being lengthy action sequences. This one in particular does a good job of giving you hope for Luigi's victory, only to give you a more realistic, unique and tragic conclusion. The scripting is great, as possessed Mario suggests, he never did stand a good chance at winning considering how unfair things were. It lends insight into the story that was trying to be told during the action sequences, it wasn't just action for actions sake. How greatly Luigi still stands up to in each bout him highlights his own power, through righteousness and heroism, he challenges an impossible threat. It's a very interesting telling of a hero's story, one most mainstream action flicks are usually too afraid to do. A cool little detail I noticed too is Luigi is the only one to get a lick in with a sword while neither was incapacitated, see 4:13. Despite ultimately losing, this is a great example of one of Luigi's small victories during the fight that add to the story.
I just realized how amazing this series is, watching it for the first time since 2008. Back in my Lower School days, I used to find tons of shit on RU-vid to watch, sprite animations being one of them. I came across this gem, watching it, and only partially realizing how complex the conflict and development in this story was. Watching this when you're much older and wiser is so much more powerful because it's nostalgic and you have a better sense of emotional attachment. This series is amazing. So hard to believe it came out 11 years ago. Thank you Daniel Sun for this masterpiece.
Believe it or not I actually understood my emotions better as a child when I first watched this because back then I cried hell of a lot easier and I understood "Is there anything that hurts more then watching your loved ones die," (may not be exact but I tried) back then because I hated being alone without at least someone with me in the same ROOM. And now that I'm watching after about maybe 9-7 years I feel more sorrow but am not crying. Does that make sense? Maybe not I don't know.
Man, I remember I was in 7th grade when I first watched this. Now I'm a freshman in college. XD This brings back so many memories, the story was amazingly emotional, and I cried at the end. Have any of you guys seen Power Star 4.5? I thought it was freaking hilarious. XD
Now for you people who dident know what the narrator was talking about was :they was blind to see that when they got what they wanted and let Mario go for that 1 second he saw what the forced him to do and committed suicide cause 1. he couldn't bear to continue life this way and 2. he new it was the only way to stop the boo's
I have to admit i saw this a long time ago. When i saw this it made me really cry and still did today. And no matter how much times i watch this video it will always make me cry.
I don't know if everyone else thinks what I'm saying is logical, but there was a way Luigi could have won. Sure he may be on par with Mario, but he far exceeds a simple toad's strength. If he was willing to put saving his brother on hold, he could potentially collect as many powers stars as he can before the toads could, and defeat them if he ever encounters them. Then maybe just maybe he could defeat Mario.
Message of the series: Siblings always are close to each other no matter if one is possessed How do I know? Well Luigi held back on Mario, he didn't want to hurt him. And when Mario realizes Luigi is dead, he commits suicide for him. This was a sad series but it was awesome, the dialogue and fighting especially
Kevin Sookwah pretty sure Luigi was not holding back, he literally said that he will risk everything to stop possessed Mario, and did a deadly blow at Mario (although he survived)
Well he ended up losing the power stars which gave him a boost in his strength and speed to devil mario. So basically this was (what im assumimg) his raw strength. He did manage to hold his own though despite mario having almost all the power stars
This movie was an instant newground classic, with one of the most brutal but yet sad ending if I would have a chance to rate this, I will give this a 10/10 :')
I HATED this series as a child. Mostly because of this ending and the Toads were getting murdered left and right. I still kind of hate this episode, but I now see how masterfully the series was made.
"You never stood a chance to begin with; Not you nor Super Mario. All his attempts to escape my grasp have failed. Jest as your attempts to stop me have failed. And now... You will die." I was shivering in my computer chair when I first heard that line!
Man I love this video can't stop watching this it's so sad to see the tragedy at the end but there's a message towards the end and the message is in reality good won't always win.
i loved this as a kid... well at first the violence kinda shocked me, and the emotional ending was just... i have no words. This story is amazing tho and whoever made this is really special and unique :)
Thank you! It's a great epos .. it's unbelievable .. how much a good story + nice composition of action, drama and the soundtrack music can accomplish .. simply amazing ... it seems there's no need for absolutely photo realistic graphics... Really awesome .. I almost cried in the end ... I so hoped for a happy end after all :,(
has anyone seen something more epic than this? serously the fight was just epic with that music. REALY if anyone can top this fight PLEASE tell me. this is the best sprite fight ever and maybe the most epic thing ive ever seen
@theshadowlover1 I too know that feeling. I lost my father about 3-4 years ago. I did not see him die, but when my mom told me of his death, I felt the most searing pain. My heart shattered and I cried until I could not cry any longer. My parents had long then been divorced for a long time. it took a few days to soothe my pain. Nowadays, I don't even cry at the most emotional events in a video game and even this video.
The boos have done everything right by killing everything and everyone in their way, but their arrogance gave mario a chance to off himself while he was in control of his body for possibly the last time. This series is great, and this was a great way to close the final chapter in the Power Star saga.
Ounestly, This is Awesome, And Only A Fraction of How My Imagination Is O.o Therefor, This Is One Of The Most Violent Things Ive Ever Seen. But As You Can Tell. Not Imagined.
Well, considering they completely devastated the Mushroom Kingdom, look's Bowser can set up his own Bowser Kingdom without having to fight one battle. Great work Bowser! :)
classic the ending was just amazing and after the roll of mistake that the boo's made were the bodies lay dead with mario and luigi next to eachother brother next to brother that is just awesome 20/10 20 out of ten
For that final battle, Mario's victory was pretty much assured. Mario - had 3 Power Stars, and the pure ruthless evilness of the Boos, as well as an army bringing him every other Power Star. Luigi - had 1 Power Star, and was still afraid of killing his brother. Do the math.
you gotta give it to Luigi..he held off against god knows how many boos (all in Mario's body) this ending made me cry when I was a kid..and to this day its still just as sad as I remember it.
