lol idk which fans you've seen of them because I've seen them more times than the average person and the wardrobe of the average joe at one of their show's consists of orange beanies beanies in general and some maybe a few long-hair flannel types... lol. Or the alternative to the beanie style is the skater snapback hat with a hoodie, looking like they just got out of the deleted scenes of Ali G ...... respek ....
@@SkeetSystem it's simple really, without Pantera there most likely is no LOG or Power Trip. I'm sure Power Trip would find your ignorant comment insulting, especially about their Texan brethren. I dare you to call Phil Anselmo a "wigger" to his face! You'd be shitting your teeth. Hahahaha
@@dexterj5615 😆 Texas is awesome. We love the haters. Y'all give us strength. Thanks, Dexy! Don't forget to tell your mom to change your sheets. Them shits is getting crusty, boy!
I saw power trip in Memphis and was immediately blown away. I had questions about the band and reached out on Twitter to Riley. Not only did he engage in a conversation but months later he messaged me and ask how I was doing. He was one of a kind and a huge lost to the metal scene.
i saw them at murphy's for the first time and it was fucking mindblowing. i listened to them sparingly but that night changed my life. i broke my back and mentioned off-hand to someone that i wish i could see them but i was jobless because of my back, riley saw it and put me on the guest list for the new daisy show. then later on my friends and i drove from memphis to dallas, tx to see their 10 year anniversary set. i fucking love power trip.
Reading this almost made me tear up. Thank you for sharing, RIP to a fucking legend. Gone much too soon. Fuck fentanyl and the war on drugs, killed too many of my heroes.
Awesome story man! Thanks for sharing that, I was fortunate enough to catch their show at Roskilde Festival 2019 - merely moments before the covid epidemic and only a year before his tragic and unfortunate death, it was a killer show, and not only that, on his way down from the stage after the show I catched him and greeted him, he was such a great and wholesome person to be around, tragic loss.
I am a 44 year old father of two young children. Whenever I get a 10 minute break from life I slide on the headphones and thrash to Power Trip. God Bless Them for making my life easier.
Simon, if u can stand the swedish language and still enjoy the music. Then look me up on facebook. I think i can get ur fix on metal. Cheers m8 and always keep your head up high. \m/
This set was phenomenal. It was my first time crowd surfing and going in a circle pit. Riley's engagement with the crowd was amazing. I'm so sad to hear of his passing. I'm happy my time seeing him live is immortalized on film here. Rest easy.
Riley was such a nice person I saw him at Round One once, too scared to go up to him so my girlfriend approached him. He was very genuine, humble and just so sweet. I was with some friends too, he took the time to remember our names and even told us to come hang out with him later, that he’d be playing Tetris. And later on we saw him alone playing Tetris. Rest In Peace, one of the nicest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.
@@cesrlibel396 I think it was an overdose but I’m not 100% either way it was fucked he posted on his story like right before my homies and I were shocked
@@cesrlibel396 it was unintentional overdose. Supposedly from Fentanyl... Riley was someone who loved life, but was also very depressed. Hug the one's you love, because they could be gone tomorrow. \M/ Rest.In.Power.
I just discovered this band through RU-vid suggestion in early 2018, instantly made up my mind i was absolutely going to see them live no matter what asap… then late feb 2020 hits at the same exact moment i finally for the first time in my 35 years on earth had the cash, equity, and credit enough to get anything my simple ass could ask 4, then this man dies in October … R.I.P Riley and thank you for your existence 😎😇 one of my goals is to do a live cover of cross breaker dedicated to Riley and im gonna fuckin rock that place wherever it may be 🙂
@@RowdyChocolateOfficial That's YOUR interpretation, NOT my meaning! Generic compared to what or to whom Professor? Some say rock music in general is "generic" in comparison to the greatest composers the world has ever known! But does that render rock music without merit whatsoever? I doubt you would say so. PT don't bring anything new to the genre....but so what? At least somebody is trying to keep rock alive! And you better believe that's important, because like it or not, rock is no longer culturally as beloved as she once was....but she always will be in my heart. How's that for a lot of words????
RIP Riley. So bummed I’ll never be able to see this lineup. Nightmare Logic is one of the best thrash albums ever made, no matter what time period. I believe it’s THAT good.
You can tell that these guys are heavy influence by the metal of the 80’s and I love it. Bring metal/thrash where it belongs. No flashy clothes, no pyro, no special effects, just good old fashioned thrash.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. I would not want to be the next band after these guys. The organizers maybe had no choice but they should have gone on much later.
Considering the next band up was Orden Ogan, I would've switched those two bands around, so festival-goers would've got the one-two punch of Power Trip followed by Septicflesh
It takes a serious dedication to a look to brave sweatpants like those. And add the boots and Texas hat. Next level. His style/music was so badass but he also seemed sweet. I know that's not "metal or punk" or whatever and I don't know him but after being a fan for a while and seeing a million other bands he seems like he had kindness and apathy. And he totally ripped, of course.
Ever time a great thrash metal band that is just about to be huge. Something terrible happens to one of them. But we are still stuck with the five finger death punches
To play with this intensity in broad daylight at midday or whatever time they were on, and win over the crowd... not many bands can do this. RIP Riley Gale
That breakdown from 24:52 to 25:52 is one of the best metal breakdowns there are. It's just simply mindbendingly good. The last time I had this kind of reaction to a breakdown was the first time I heard Pantera "Domination". Stunning. Just stunning. This live version is good, but the breakdown in the studio version made me stop my car, go back in the song and play it again at full tilt. I had goosebumps and chills from this breakdown😂
Wish I got to see them live with Riley, so sad to hear he passed away yesterday.. Rest In Power man, the metal world has lost another extremely talented musician
For the past months, I kinda parted ways with metal onto other genres, this video popped up on my recommended. Power trip is my favourite metal band and is the only one I listen to consistently even though I don't listen to much metal anymore. Checking the comments I come to find out that Riley has passed away. I am shaken by the news and extremely saddened. this band got me in a genre I fell in love with for a while which at one point I considered just noise and screaming but it has become so much more than that to me. Rest in Power Riley, you may be gone but never forgotten.
I was there with my brother! Power Trip were on at 11:30, but the crowd acted as if they were headlining. We were all so into it! Damn Riley couldn't half command an audience. Rest in power 👊
Dude I just got introduced to this band not too long ago and I've been a huge fan ever since, after watching them live on RU-vid I found out that Riley tragically passed away, huge loss to the metal community, this guy was freaking awesome and gave it his all. It hits me hard when I find out musicians from bands that I love pass away, music is pretty much everything to me especially metal. Much love for this band, stay strong 💪 🤘
ive seen this video about 100 times and it never gets old. i just hope power trip keeps goin with their fucking fantastic music. hopefully you find a great vocalist. for sure i buy the shit out of you merch. rip riley
Wish I could have seen these guys again. Saw them in 2011/2012 as just another band on the bill in Houston. I remembered them for sure. The guitar riffing is so sick, as good if not better than the 80s.
The instruments are so nonchalant while they summon the gnarliest thrash I've heard in 25 years. Great to see them here and sad to learn about Riley... I hope it isn't the end for the band because man they are LEGIT.
