This is a video showing how to remove and replace the window regulator in a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Any questions or comments leave them in the comments box and I'll get back ASAP.
Ive been watching SMA for over 6 years, enjoying every one. Ive never really gone back to the earlier vids until today when I was searching for a video on exactly this replacement. How awesome is that, I get the tutorial and I get to enjoy some SMA classics.
In Australia here and just got an 07 Grand Cherokee. Just found Out the window clamp is broken. But thanks to this video was able to open up the door panel and find out if this was the case thank you very much for this video it was very helpful
This was the most helpful tutorial to fix something I have ever seen. I did this step for step thought it would take me 3 hours and I did it within 1. Thank you so much you are awesome!
Great job y'all. I used your video to keep my wife's driver side window up. I found that one of the two nylon rollers was absent and the other was worn down. So that's as far as I can take it for now.
Great video! The other videos on this subject are for earlier model Jeeps than the one I have. I have a 2007 Grand Cherokee. This video was spot on. I just followed the steps in the video and other than having some old window clamps that needed some persuasion to let go, all went well. Thanks for posting!
Nice video. I was hoping to see a close-up of the regulator mechanism to see which part had broken. If the old elec motor is working, can only the window mechanism be purchased & reattached to the old motor?
Great question because I'm wondering the same thing. My Comment should be the first one in the "newest replies" category. What did you find out? Everything's good on mine save for the two nylon roller wheels as one's completely gone off it's stud and the other is worn too small to stay in it's track.
Is this same basic design the same for most domestic car/truck regulator removals?? I learned a lot from this video as regulator removals always have scared me because I was never sure how they would come out of the door at one solid piece. I really like those suction cup holders. Do you happen to remember where you bought them?
Thanks for detail video, I have problem with rear window, roll down but it wont roll up. I did not remove the regulator out of door panel yet and try different switch and same result then I detached the motor from regulator (only motor without mechanism behind it) and try it and works in one direction and not the other. Do you think the problem is motor?
I have a 2007 Grand Cherokee. Unfortunately my window due to frigid temps froze my window and I could not put it back up. Could I just replace the motor itself??
I know im commenting this 7 years later but has anyone had the problem where your window would get scratched when rolled all the way down after the install? It’s probably not noticeable to glass with no tint but i have 5% on the front windows of my Cherokee and every time i roll my passenger side down the scratch starts to get bigger going up on the bottom side of the window towards the side mirror. If anyone had this problem before would y’all please reply and tell me how you fixed it or what I could’ve did wrong. Thanks.
Number 1 killer of window motors? Unlubricated window seals. Put some silicone on the window seals on the bottom of the window so the window motor doesnt have to work so hard
My problem has always been finding the proper lubricate to use in those window regulator tracks. You need something that is highly resistant to water, like silicone, but that has a super high-temperature resistance and is synthetic to resist gumming up over time like most petroleum-based greases.
