How to setup reduced speed Flap deployment in conjunction with automatic Elevator trim.
Hope you don't find the video overly long and fall asleep...:) Not many videos currently exist that delve into this level of detail.

What a CONVOLUTED MESS this programming is. This vid convinced me to keep my Futaba, if for no other reason than I can program Flap/Elev mix AND slow the flap movement in literally 30 seconds.

@@heydonray I also use Futaba so I know Futaba programming very well but Futaba is limited in flexibility and telemetry. Once you get familiar with how the Function menu works it also takes minimal time... You are just not familiar with it so to you it seems to be convoluted but in reality it is reasonably simple. My video shows you how to fully synchronise the flaps with the elevator trim. If you just want to slow down the flaps etc then it also only takes less than 30 secs to do. Obviously you did not watch the video carefully. With Futaba you cannot synch the travel as per my example. Futaba has built in features such as Flap/Elev mix...In these PowerBox transmitters you need to set this up yourself as they have no pre-programmed mixes etc. It allows more flexibility this way as you don't need to rely on set mixes the radio offers - You just make them yourself so way more flexibility as you are not limited by just what the radio offers from the manufacturer.

Excellent video! Interesting to view how to synchronize the delays! Tx!

Great video Costa, and explained in a very good way. Then the flaps fading on my planes will be reprogrammed.

First thank you for all great videos, then sorry for my English. In many gliders it is preferable to use the throttle stick for butterfly. Flaps, ailerons and elevator. Using the stick to change flight modes (FM) would make it possible to have 3 different trims for elevator. Spending hours, I can only use the stick to make 2 FM. (In reality one, ON/OFF). The wish is :-stick forward no breaks and normal elev trim (No FM or call it normal), stick center 1/2 butterfly and elevator compensation with trim for FM 1/2 break. Stick further back bringing me to FM full butterfly with new trim for elevator. Then normal use of switches to make phases like speed and thermal which normally used with throttlestick forward and no break. Hope I make it possible to understand what I mean. PS I have made a function called elevator trim using the 2 rotary knobs for half and full break elevator trim, however it is not so elegant. Hope you find this interesting to look into. Best regards Svein Morten Sorensen

We should be able to create a throttle stick switch for the sticks centre position by using a virtual switch. We then use the output of the virtual switch to select the Flight Mode. I will play around with this tonight when Im home from work but it should be fairly easy to do this.

Thanks again, Iḿ quite a newbe to this PB radio, I have used MPX since 1977. The MPX profi series have a DIGI adjuster wich can be connected to almost anything for inflight adjustments. This digi adjuster function is waht Iḿ trying to copy. Your Ide using virtual switch is smart I think. Iĺl play around it myself also. Playing with the radio is a must if learning it. I think also it feels better for you Costas, helping lost souls that at least have tried. Helping each other is a fantastic gift.

@@onkahei I just played around with my Core and it is capable of creating multiple switch points along the throttle stick travel. I will try and make a short video on this tonight and put it on YT.

Thank you very much for the video. Excellent. But I'd like to ask anyway. How to set the transmitter so that the pitch trim suppression value is changeable for flight and for takeoff and landing. My point is that I don't want to compensate for Flap 1 by suppressing the flap during take-off. Thank you very much for your answer.
@CVHeliPilot
@CVHeliPilot Месяц назад
@@CzechJets-mc2vy Hi, if I understand you correctly, you can do this by setting the Rate value to 0% in any particular flight mode. Take a look at my Crow/Butterfly video which shows this in some detail.

Great video. What would be really useful for glider pilots, is to show how to add ailerons to the system for gliders where camber changing is necessary. On some models it's necessary for both the flaps and ailerons to move by small amounts above and below the neutral position for speed and thermal modes. Can the run time for both be incorporated to prevent abrupt movements and still have fast aileron response?
@CVHeliPilot
@CVHeliPilot 10 месяцев назад
Yes this is fairly easy to do...I currently do something similar on my warbird for Crow ie both ailerons are offset from neutral upwards at a slow rate when activating Crow. You just need to create a new Function and add the aileron servos to this. You can also add the flap servos as well. You then use the curve for this new function to create an offset for the amount of deflection required, you can use a fixed value or assign a slider/knob etc if you want it adjustable of course. You use the Run Time in the function curve to adjust the speed that this function operates. The ailerons will still operate normally when moving the aileron stick as that is a separate function which is not delayed in any way. I was intending to do a video to activate a typical Crow setup so check that out... Should have time sometime next weekend to knock up another video.
