Hey JayTee ….. so you know… I got these tires for my Felony and I ran the RC with an 18t pinion and it performed very very well ….. I did about 4 consecutive speed runs up to 70 mph and I had no heat problems with the electronics what so ever…… the rear Grippers are a tad taller so I’m still concerned about the rear diff ratio being a problem….time will tell …. Also I found the rubber compound wears a lot better than the Hoons …… I put a SMC 6s lipo ( your recommendation) through the RC and when I was done there was hardly any wear at all on the tires…….. though you’d like to know….. thanks for being one of my RC Yodas… I only have 2 and the other one is Earl Moorhead….. I did the gearbox swap on my Felony. GP5 diff and input gear in the rear. I like to run 4 GRP XM-7 medium hard tires on it. Probably not as much grip, but they last twice as long as Hoons 😮 and I can rotate them when they wear unevenly. I need to tune my diffs with thicker oil, cuz sometimes I get uneven tire wear. Nice video.
You can use them on any 1/8 scale without a gear change. the width don’t matter, it’s the height of the factory felony rear wheels that makes you need the different gears. That being said the power hobby wheels are shorter then the factory felony rears so I don’t know if they would be good for the felony.
Your right.. The diameter is the same as the front so the ratio will be off with the felony but now I can run that proline corvette c8 body without a diff change on my infraction GT
You hit the nail right on the head @STREET DREAMZ RC the stock felony tires are different diameters, 100mm in the front and 107mm in the rear that’s why the different gear setup👍
The felony has different sized ring and pinion gears in the front and rear end diffs to compensate for the larger rear tire. The rear of the felony is essentially under driven. Power Hobby designed these for the infraction and limitless and recommends installing the infraction rear diff in the felony if using. If you don’t you are going to put excessive stress on the drivetrain.
I wouldn’t necessarily say excessive stress. The center differential will essentially absorb and redirect power as necessary. This will essentially cause the front tires to spin faster than the rears or be “overdriven” in technical terms. This will just mean more drive/pull from the front tires. I perfect actual factual real life example of this is the military HMMWV (Humvee). I worked on these things for 10 years. A fun fact is that these things are 100% full time 4wd, when the transfer case is engaged in the “4x4” setting the power is a perfect 50/50 split to front and rear. When the transfer case is not engaged the power distribution is believe it or not 60/40 60% front 40% rear all the time. So Humvee are basically pulling more from the front unless the transfer case is engaged. Long winded but take it as you will. 🤷♂️. Jay Tee… let us know how how the felony handles with those tires.
Wassup man. Not trying to correct you and someone can correct me if I’m wrong but I believe that you can run these on the infraction & limitless. The felony you can’t because the slimmer hoons height are 100mm. The wider hoons height are 107mm. That’s what makes the difference and makes the felony rear differential have to be different. These front and rear power hobby wheels height are both close to 100mm.
I have a new 1/8 Infraction. I'll have to get 17mm wheel adapters to do that? Which ones yall recommend? And these tires are bigger diameter Than the 85mm stocks, I'd probably have to trim the body? Will the gearing be ok at stock?
Ok okay…. Both front and rear tires are the SAME hight… both are 100mm tall. The rear are a wide deep dish soo the look compliments the Felony but they are NOT a direct replacement for the factory gear ratio on the felony. These mounted tires are equal hight and the Hoons debot are not equal hight FYI to those who aren’t sure.
They do look good but I dunno if I would use them because of the hight difference compared to the Hoons ….. I’m no engineer so I’m a little bit skeptical because I worry about problems with the Diffs….. thanks for the input JT….. always Gr8 content……😎👍🏻💯

It would only cause problems with your diffs if you were running tires of two different circumference on each side. Like one brand new one on one side and one worn out on the other. Diffs would be just fine running these.

I wish they would make an aftermarket five spoke wheels for my Felony. This specific wheel style is what everyone is doing. They would look better on my Granite as opposed to my felony
Those are going straight in my slash build..always good to have options.a wider contact patch would definitely help for the 2wds at higher than usual speeds.
@Andra Taylor the front and rear diffs are geared differently to allow for the different size tires. Using the same size tires front and rear will eat up your diffs.
@Andra Taylor No problem brother. I'm a 60 year old man who has been building rc cars for over 30 years. I'm glad to help. You can also just put an Infraction rear diff in that Felony and use any tires you want. ( as long as they are the same size)

Hello Ben...I did the same to my Vendetta 3s...I put some grp wheels on it.. they are bout the height as the grippers...all I had to do is cut the shell over the wheel...the taller wheels added added 3 mph to my Arrma Vendetta to 59mph from 56
Jay QUESTION.. now that it’s been a while, what is the FASTEST you were able to go on grippers and what’s the most power they can take before ripping? I had what looked like an early failure so I’m looking for other ppls exp. Thanks.
I'm still testing all these out. The weather hasn't been the best but I would say they're almost about the same but I've heard some people say a little different
