This video will show you how to completely power down your alarm system. Perfect for homeowners or business owners who do not want to use their system and need to stop it from beeping.
Thank you for the great video, my ADT alarm has been going off for the last 2 hours and this saved the evening. Nearly paid £200 quid for an emergency electrician. Took me less than 2 minutes to disarm.
Sorry to be offtopic but does any of you know of a tool to log back into an instagram account?? I was stupid lost my password. I love any tricks you can offer me.
I will add my thanks. I had discontinued my service with a major company, and several months later started getting a bf (backup failure) alarm. I particularly appreciated your reassurance that I wasn't going to electrocute myself or blow up my house. Philosophy majors find the real world sort of intimidating.
Was awakened in the middle of the night by a loud, constant beeping sound coming from an unused alarm in the house (low battery). These instructions worked like a charm. Thank you!
Your instructions were so easy to understand and I had our system disconnected in no time. We've lived in this house for 3 years and never had the alarm system activated. We thought one of our smoke alarms was beeping and a battery needed changing, but finally figured out what the beeping was when the alarm started going off. Boy was that loud! Thanks again for a great video!
SAME!!! Never ever used the system and now need to replace windows that are connected to it. I called an alarm system company who basically explained everything this video did! (They didn't tell me the plug was tan though haha!) You just saved me a good $70!
Your video saved hair on my head. I had this old security system beeping non stop for days and weeks and I had no ways of turning it off as I didn't have the code. Now, after following your video, I was able to completely shut it off by disconnecting power source...I am in great peace as I am typing this comment! Thank you!!!
OMG ! - our alarm system (not monitored) has been driving us mad for a couple of years - beeps at 1030 at night every night. Back up battery issue I suspect. Now disconnected back up battery and pulled out 12v main wire. Thank you Jordan you bloody legend !. 🙏
Just as pretty much all the videos said this is a lifesaver!! Go directly to the source (usually a small box in the premises) and disconnect the alarm by removing the battery or unplugging the plug
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Had a Brinks system not used in years. Following a power outage of 4 days, the low battery alarm started beeping at all hours of the day. Disconnecting the battery did not solve problem. This worked! Thanks for your very clear instructions.
This is a great presentation, one of the very best RU-vid help videos I've ever seen. Because I could not locate the transformer, the bit about how to disconnect the power within the control panel was a real godsend. Thank you!
Lifesaver video! The previous owners had the system installed, and we were not subscribed and the alarms went off one day.. frantically was trying to figure out, and this video really helped and I could disable the system! Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for your video. I contacted ADT for the same information on an old system in a home we purchased and they were no help. You have saved us so much!
holy moly - this guy from the 70s is the bomb! I live in Mexico, just moved into a house with a DSC alarm and it was sounding off. This vid is the third one I watched and it worked!
This video is a life saver. Great directions and our alternative per ADT was to purchase a new system as the system in the house we purchased is no longer serviced. Really appreciate your help!
Thanks Jordan, today your video had saved me the day of disaster. I was cleaning my alarm keypad but by the time I put it back, the alarm sounded without end. But by following your instruction, I was able to disarm the alarm complete and finished my clean up with a happy ending...Thanks again.
Thank You sooooo much for this wonderful video. I’ve been living in my home for 15 years and have NOT used the alarm system in over 10years. When the power goes out, the alarm goes off, it IS VERY ANNOYING when that happens. Thanks to this video I was able to easily( in less than 3 mins) disconnect the power!!!
This information was a sanity saver!! I recently purchased home with old system that I did not set up and the thing kept beeping @ all hours of day/ night. Thank you! thank you!
I’ve used MANY youtube videos for help but this one was by far the most helpful. I am immensely grateful that you posted this!! Thank you. It was perfectly prepared.
Jordan, thank you! This is the best video on how to fully stop alarms. None of the other videos I watched went into details of opening the box and disabling the wires (if you have no external plug, which I don't). Great stuff!
I disconnected the main backup battery and pulled the transformer plug on my ADT system. I even pulled the backup battery in the cellphone unit , and the system was still running!! Thanks to this video, I removed the red wire on the left end of the buss in the panel, and it finally went dead! Where that source of power is, I have not a clue. That will be a quest for the future. Thanks SecurityCentralinc!!
After two years of living in a house with an alarm system we don't use, we suddenly started hearing random beeping. Luckily, this video showed me exactly what I needed to do to disconnect the system once and for all. Thank you!
Sir-Thank you! My alarm went off for 3.5 hours after a power surge at 1AM. MY DOGS & ME WERE GOING CRAZY.Central Monitoring tech was of NO assistance. While I have about 30 wires and my system is hard-wired, YOUR VIDEO SAVED ME! GOT IT ON THE FIRST TRY! THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!!
Great video. Well presented. Very helpful. I was dealing with an older alarm system that I inherited when I bought my house. I never even knew the passcode and it was going off from time to time which was very annoying. This method of de-installation / powering down was very helpful.
Words can't express how grateful I am that you could help me solve this 'home owner blues'. Tonight we will get some sleep. I don't understand why this was not done in 2011 when we bought this house and did not subscribe to the service and the company turned it off.
Excellent video, I had zero satisfaction with ADT as to how to power down nor would they send out a tech to power down my/their system. I had my ADT system powered down in 3 minutes. Thank you!
Thank you very much. Worked for my old ADT security system. No more annoying beeping!! We don't use this security system anymore because we are trying to cut down on bills...
Thank you for this upload. Bought a house with an unused ADT system that announces which door is opening very loudly and I have a newborn baby so you can see where this caused issues. Finally can go into the garage without the alarm system waking up the baby.
Oh my gosh!! You saved our family from a sleepless night! I couldn’t find the transformer anywhere, although I know I’ve seen it, so went in with the screwdriver. I feel so good about myself tonight 😂
After my mom's death I no longer needed the alarm system. It was quite costly--$50 a month. I cancelled my service and was wondering how to disconnect the system. Thank you! I did not realize it was that easy! My security system is over 10 years old.
Thank you so much for this video, we haven't used our alarm for quite a while, the other day it went off for no reason and i couldn't remember the code to switch it off, anyway it did stop after quite a while. Because we dont use it anymore i thought i would be a good idea to just turn the system off, i found the box and unplugged the wall socket, but i noticed that the keypad was still active and also the strobe light out side of the house was flashing (no noise though),, ive been serching the internet the last 2 days as i did not know how to turn the strobe light off, after watching this video i disconected both terminals from the batttery and it worked a treat,,, the panel was not active at all and the strobe light was off! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
Thank you! You got me out of a crisis here, but not before I basically ripped the main keypad off the wall. Alas. Grateful to have silence back, and without doing any more damage than that. 🙃 🙂
Thank god for this video! Inherited ADT system started going beep crazy, and ADT Customer DisService was not helpful. I figured out the backup battery disconnect but could not find the main transformer, it must be in the attic. Anyway disconnecting the left terminal wires WORKED!!! Appreciate this information.....
Thank you!! We had an old ADT system that we had cancelled a while back and it was beeping randomly (late at night) for low battery/sensor faults. This took care of the problem in less than 5 minutes!
Thanks very much! My electricity went out because of hurricane Ian, when it came back on my ADT system that I thought was offline went crazy and wouldn't respond to any of the codes. Because I don't subscribe to ADT, I never had a use for the system and have wanted to know how to completely disable it, thanks again.
