Looking forward to the next video overviewing the full Solar set up! I'd love to know what the panel/panel model number you're using inside the solar shed (That the inverters feed into) before it heads to the house...
Saya dari Indonesia. Tapi mulai menonton channel ini sejak membangun rumah off grid. Bukan waktu masih di Indonesia dl. Hope you still understand Indonesian language.
Pak Martin! Used your videos studying for Indonesian while in the army! Now the wife and I are settling in northern Idaho and about to install solar as well and here you guys are again! Small world thanks for paving the way!
I even start my guitar business using my off grid system I'm making a guitar right now using my solar set up I never thought that it would be possible thanks to you guys you gave me an idea of building my solar set up for my guitar business
Honor system store is wonderful. Genesis 3 tells us why humanity fell from such honor. It is nice to know there are still areas that can have an honor store! 1 Cor 1:30-31.
I’m following your channel since a long time from Rotterdam, The Netherlands. I don’t have to explain to you the Dutch-Indonisian connection. Indonesian food is still more or less Dutch national food and very well appriciated in The Netherlands. So well that most house holds/families preserve their own traditional Indonisian recepies allong with in the Dutch language incorporated “malasian/ Bahasa Indonesië” words as ajam, nasi, rendang, babi pangang, sambal, goreng etc. All the best!
I just found your channel and I am enjoying it. Before the Rural Electrification Act most of Boundary County didn't have power, real off grid! My Grandparents owned the Store, Motor Lodge and Dance Hall at Naples until 1947. The lighting came from a Delco System wind mill & gas engine generators that charged a battery bank. For refrigeration Grand Dad had a large underground icehouse supplied from Blue Lake, he had ice well into October. My father and his two brothers pumped (gravity fed) most of the gasoline for customers.
Thanks for the solar update and for the ride through the country. Love the true self check out and we are so far from that any where on the planet so sad world we live in.
Totally agree about the food. I lived in Singapore for a decade, and was an oft visitor to Indonesia. But I must say the people too were brilliant. Almost as nice as the Thai I miss the whole region
I love how many demo ranch shirts you have!! I’ve been noticing them through out many of your videos that I’ve watched. Also, amazing videos! Thank you so much for documenting all of this!!
Great improvement on the 'new' solar system Marty. The figures do make sense as well and also take into account the older panels wouldn't be running now at full efficiency. I am jealous as that is similar to what I want here!! :)
We use mini splits for heat & ac with 6k + we have a any gas 20k generator with a transfer switch . When batteries get low the genarac, generator starts charges battery’s then auto off . Ecoflo has a small generator that’s does same with electric start
Just built a 2kw system with a bunch of 2x4 and some chain, two panels on each frame and 3 of those for 6 365w panels, can lay em flat in 3 mins if a bad storm is coming but they are solid up to a tornado I gather hehe
Just Found your Channel. If you have to redo the Panels in the Future, Consider a Fruit Tree Picking Ladder. They work Great on almost Any Topography. They are a Tripod Style Ladder.
You guys inspired me to build my off grid set up solar power and push me to do all things that I thought I can't make it, but I made it, even if stlill in a lower level of my plans but it is still going upwards. Thank you very much guys😊
Hi Pak Martin & Bu Julie, wah masih ingat juga dengan Indonesia dan nasi goreng. Hope you guys still remember us, hope oneday we can meet up at Indonesia or USA. Edy & Mar.
interesting solar panel configuration, I noticed that the panels are mix of polycrystalline and monocrystalline solar panels, is indeed an interesting one. While both types of panels can generate solar energy, monocrystalline panels are generally considered to be more efficient than polycrystalline panels. This means they can convert a higher percentage of sunlight into electricity under the same conditions
Hi Martin ... I noticed you changed your original ground mount design from using the hinges on the 2x6 to the steel pole. How do you like the change? I'm just setting up my ground mount and have been looking at some ideas.
Love your videos. Thanks for sharing. Like all places, California has good parts and bad parts. I know we're depicted in the news as a bad place but certain parts are very conservative and tight knit communities. Where I am at for example, everyone pretty much knows each other and it is a relatively small community. Look forward to your next video.
i actually see over the rated wattage on my panels, by up to about 6%, but i have the advantage of currently living in a cold climate at 9000', both improving efficiency
2 different types of panels can causes problem and lower output power, also when your panels warm up as today, because we can see you only in T-shirt so "name" or rated power slowely decrease based on decreased effectivity. PV have the best effectivity as cold as they are, but also as lower temperature outside, as lower expected sunshine. Because of this PV works perfect in spase (no atmosphere restriction and freez from space vacuum).
Awesome job. Another super solar video. You make it look so easy. I would like to see a soda/soup can placed on the panel to see if it casts a shadow. No shadow = pointed directly at the sun. Thanks for sharing
AFAIK putting 2 different panels of different outputs in series will pull back the output of the higher rated panels to those of the lower rated panels. Hence not full output
I'm waiting for you to come back to Indonesia after the house is 100% finished, it must have been very tiring to build the house, so I'm going back to Indonesia for a holiday
Great job Marty 👏, looks good and will help alot. Take note on cloudy days how much output wattage you get and that will tell you what you can or can't run on extended cloudy days..
Smart choice using low frequency, transformer based inverters instead of the low budget, low surge capacity, short lived, high frequency, transformerless inverters that everyone seems to be pushing on youtube. You can expect a very long life and reliability from those Victron inverters.
Looks amazing! You guys are so talented. Your whole place is fantastic. I've enjoyed the journey watching everything come together and the transformation of everything you've built. Oh, and you're such a nice and likeable family. 😁
Your solar array is growing larger and larger. Soon, your neighbors will be hitting you up for juice...lol 😂😅 I haven't seen an honor store in the last 40 years, that's a breathe of fresh air. Love what ya'll are doing 😊
Thanks Martin, great series. Do you have numbers for your worse 3 months of the year? i am trying to size an array, in my location, to provide a minimum during winter. like you i dont want to be running a generator every day, although obviously, when needs must. My demands will be less than yours, i just wanted a ballpark, for example im going with i need 3x the rated max PV to maintain during winter. Of course i will be over producing between March and Sept, but i am ok with that. Anyway, your place is looking great, best of luck, Keith
Plenty of honor system stands in wv. I believe in people too. There are a lot of good people out there. Don’t always trust the news. It is partially an entertainment industry that try to draw in the viewers. You might surprise yourself of what people can do when you truly trust them. Honestly, I’d rather be disappointed did not trust them in the first place. Y’all are doing a great job by the way.
