When half the 00s popular rock bands become ripoffs of mainstream pop acts such as Imagine Dragons or 21 Pilots, Powerman 5000 sound exactly like themselves, and retain their energy! Great to see!
Was lucky to hear this song at the Iron Horse Saloon! It was pretty fucking awesome! Also if you ever get a chance to see PM5k Live. Do it, because they will rock the house!
Love love love the new material ! Always thought Powerman was waaaaaay underrated and this just proves it. Can't wait to blast this at a Halloween party
Just going by this track alone, the new album sound is like the best elements of all their past albums pieced together perfectly for a truly fucking amazing sound. Hard and raw like Destroy What You Enjoy and Somewhere on the Other Side of Nowhere, yet perfectly polished like Tonight the Stars Revolt and Builders of the Future. All mixed with that Future-Retro sound from Copies, Clones, and Replicants. Only thing missing is the perfect groove of Blood Splat Rating System, but nothing can be too perfect or we'd all be killed by the sheer awesomeness.
A truly 'vicious' new track from pm5k, I love it! Been a fan since I discovered you guys on a compilation cd called THE HARD AND THE HEAVY in 2000 with the song 'Son of X-51'. 17 years later pm5k is still kicking ass!
Always a pleasure to hear new PM5K track. Can't wait to hear the whole album. Friendly reminder, come to north VA again for a tour date. I can't wait to see you guys again!
I've been following this band since TTSR, but dropped off at "Destroy What You Enjoy" I recently became reacquainted and have been jamming "Builders of The Future" reminds me so much of the TTSR and AFD material. Hearing this (and seeing some of the promo photos) reminds me of "Transform", but way different. Back in the day I wasn't ready for the change. I was a kid, and I wanted things to stay the same. I'm all grown up now, and I am so happy to see that my favorite band as a kid is not only still making great music but is still experimenting and trying new things. Spider One is a big inspiration for me. He keeps on going. Through thick and through thin. He never gives up, and he still has the balls to try new things, and I am really excited to hear more new stuff! I hope you guys come back to Albuquerque again soon. I wasn't able to make the last show as I had work, and barely even found out until the day before. (i need to check shows more) Anyways, back on point. Spider One has some large balls and is willing to keep changing it up and do new things. Respect.
This is kickass. And the video is fuckin awesome. I can't wait. My favorite album is "Somewhere on the other side of nowhere" and this really feels like a return to that sound. So awesome.
Yes! Feels like I've been waiting a decade since Builders of the Future came out! Loved that record and judging by this single, sounds like this one will be awesome as well!
Doesn't feel like anything special. Catchy for one verser/chorus. Repetitive and droney after that. The voice is the loudest thing on this track followed by the synth. Guitar has nice crunch but its essentially inaudible while spyder has his mouth open.
*What's your target audience? High school kids? The lyrics are insanely shallow. You're 49 years old and you're still writing shallow high school kid music...* *Production is great and musicians are good.*
