Powermaster starter install and test, Did this fix my issue?

ok got the new Powermaster 9103 starter installed along with a fresh 800 cold cranking amp battery hoping to resolve our clicking - no start issue
so we can try to make the final fun run night at Sacramento Raceway scheduled for 11/15/23 after this I will have to travel much further to go testing so really hoping the car will reliably start now and we can finish 2023 racing on a good note!
I do have to check the clutch cable adjustment to make sure we don't roll forward on the starting line and trip the starting beams like we did last time other than that I think the car is pretty well ready to go!

Andy Kruse has a video on a 67 mustang, the same black powermaster starter on RU-vid. I just watched it before your video. He took the clocking cover mount off and put the starter mounting bolt between the mount, so the bolt in encapsulated in the starter. Hope it will help anyone who needs it!

Nice to see you have it sorted out. Its uprising to see that the bigger starter wouldn't easily install. Glad you found a solution!

Yeah it probably could be made to work but I want it to be easily servicable.

I love powermaster products. I replaced my starter and alternator and they fit perfect with no issues! My car turns on first turn of key. I have a 30+ year old car! ( 1988 chevrolet MonteCarlo SS)

Rap the header right around the selinoid area it will save the selinoid from the high heat of the header and last much longer for you the selinoid is close to the header right now and over a short period of time it will have it single clicking with a heat damaged selinoid Just trying to help you out

I hate PowerMaster starters, and had nothing but bad experiences trying to install one of these on my 74 Vette, with a small block Chevy. It never really worked right, so I went back to OEM and never looked back.

Oh man sorry to hear you had troubles! I still have 3 oe starters and my 3g alternator if I have any issues.

Have you tried to complete a Key on Engine Off code diagnostic reader? You might be able to find a stored code.

I do have an OBD1 code reader but with everything i have removed for racing im not sure it would even run the test, I can try it if all else fails.

Seems like heat may be an issue as well. Hope it continues to work well. Might want to do some heat wrap around the headers to protect the starter.

Thanks, I'm going to check for any voltage drop and I may try some header wrap in that area or make up a heat shield or something

@@vrm86gtare your headers coated? Jet Hot took care of me recently. The underhood area is a lot cooler overall as well.

Have you done a firewall mounted solenoid ? If not do that.. it will help with hot starts

Man I wish I had any ideas on your issue. But my stuff is low buck compared to that. I'm running a starter from O'Reilly's that is for a '93F150, and a big battery. Even with a 13-1 compression motor, locked out timing, big solid roller cam, it spins over like no tomorrow.

Thanks! mine is only at a little over 11:1 but seems this 800 CCA battery and starter is doing the trick so far, fired up the car again after work and took it around the block, so far so good!

battery amps is critical and you run the truck often?

this Header tubes are so close to the Starter ...and that heats up everything ... you better Heatwrap the Header or the Starter ...to be safe ..thats one of the reasons why y went back to the Shorty Headers ...Tube is far away from the Starter ... good luck..

Yeah I may have to get some header wrap on htat area or a blanket for the starter. Might possibly try ot make up a heat shield or something also.
