I love powkiddy almost as much as I also hate them 😅. The cheaper devices are awsome but have no wifi. And the more expensive units have wifi but have battery issues and meh quality buttons,d pads.. in my experience anyway
I was not expecting that "hawk tuah" joke. LoL. I don't really have a preference between horizontal and vertical handhelds. I can appreciate both layouts. Because of this flexibility, I still think the best value in this segment is the R36S. Same chip, very good screen, and an extra stick for a bit less money. If I needed a value priced horizontal unit, I think I'd pay the extra money for Anbernic's RG35XX-H. I've written variations of this comment multiple times in the past few days and it's been an unpopular opinion every time I post it; but, I just don't get these one-stick emulation handhelds. To misquote the late, great Patrick Henry, "Give me two sticks or give me... no sticks!"
I'd personally go TG35XX H they are nearly the same price point now and you get a much better SOC along with HDMI out for console purposes. If this had, the 3:2 screen or a 1:1 it for sure would have found a home but this seems more like an update to the x39/ Pro with a smaller screen. Even with that all said I'd still get one if the price was right especially for a gift or first handheld.
Nah, RG35xx series is way more expensive for the same specs and worse colors. All it has is a better battery and Wi-Fi. But Wi-Fi isn't really needed for this level of device. It's for PS1 and under. If I wanted bells and whistles I'd get it with devices made for PS2 and GameCube emulation. This is cheap enough to be a side addition to people who have bigger/better retro consoles. I have a Retroid, but it's big and I want something that runs 90s era games at native resolution. Normally I'd feel dumb spending 60$+ for something my Retroid could do just to have easier carry and native screen size, but honestly this RGB10 x is exactly what I needed. 40$ with a cool color scheme. Perfect addition to my retro kit.
@@MrSirFluffy The H700 is a much better SOC than the RK3326 and they have a bout a $10 difference in price as well if you have a buy a dongle and adapter, you're looking at less than a $5 gap now.
@@wll1rah The chip doesn't matter as long it plays the games from PS1 and below. It's not meant for more. For me, if an emulator doesn't play at least 90% of a console's lineup, then don't use it for said console. Extra performance is wasted beyond PS1. No point. The RH35XX line is double the price everywhere, I don't see it right now for anything less than 60. Powkiddy hit the right pocket of price to performance. Though I do admit maybe a 3:2 ratio screen would have been cool... but that would make GBA specific mostly, and V10 already does that well at the same price. WiFi is pointless and so are all the other bells and whistles. Just play the games and that's it. If I want performance and all the other goodies I'd go with a whole other price range and get something that plays PS2 and GameCube, not something in the same bracket as the RGB10x.
Powkiddy can make a good under 100USD console like the RGB30 and RGB20SX, at this point it could updated the CPU of Powkiddy RGB10 X from RK3326 to RK5366 , what a mess.
I bought it for the analog stick 😅 This is exactly what I needed. Optional analog, cheap, good color scheme, 4:3 ratio screen, and strong enough for PS1 and below. At 40$ this thing is awesome. I am buying a Retroid 5 after some reviews, so this is a good addition to my retro gaming kit. If I want PS2, GameCube, or other stuff I will do it on the Retroid. Just wanted something cheap as a supplement that was easier to carry and had a 4:3 screen.
