Hi Jahnavi, thanks for the interview video. It’s seems you have just joined THE WIRE. Appreciate your contribution. Go ahead and do good work. The wire not only does honest journalism but also this kind of journalism leads to social welfare. I have known Vinod Dua for decades as a journalist. You have joined good Team of honest and matured journalist. All the best. However Mr Prabhat Patnaik I have following thoughts on Demonetisation: 1. Yes Demonetisation was a fiasco and one should confess that it was a mistake and accept the wrong decision. 2. I feel that the opening of 0 balance bank account gave a very good parking place for black money. 3. Those people who opened 0 balance Accounts deposited unaccounted money of their friends and relatives to make it white. 4. According to various data 80% of cash deposited was withdrawn in short time, now its inflow in economy is stopped. 5. Then came GST, again it was imposed on wrong time. Due to Demonetisation economy became sick and GST sent it to ICU. 6. So many new schemes announced, almost one every day. Common man cannot keep track of all the schemes. He may need directory to understand them. 7 Solution: 1. Confess that Demonetisation and GST decisions were taken in hurry. Indian people will forgive. 2. Go back to the old taxation system and wait till economy recovers. 3. A new Team can be created, consisting Mr Manmohan Singh, Amartya Sen and other Well experienced economists. No politics but professional contribution. Keep jokers out of this Team. 4. Let them discuss present problems due to Demonetisation and GST and give unbiased report to the Government. The time span for this Team may be 30 days or even lesser than that. 5. Remove all the unnecessary GST taxation on items such as Mediclaim insurance etc. 6. Keep one tax through out India I.e. 12% 7. Understand the problems faced by the people and make necessary amendments in filing of returns. Removes the fear and frustration of people. 8. The above may include small, middle and upper class business people. They may include Ambani and Adani also. They have expertise. They will able to give right perspective. Large amount of Indian people are having jobs because of successful business of them. 9. Include Mr Anil Bokil, the man who was behind Demonetisation. 10. Give boost to banking sector , including cooperative banks. 11. Encourages small entrepreneurs to restart their business. 12. Do not impose online payment system on every common man. Cashless economy is fine but there will be never be 100% cashless society. 13. Understand the mind set of people. They are not literate and comfortable. 14. Nothing grows overnight. Even baby is born after nine months. Premature baby has less chances to survive. 15. Lets keep political agendas out of this and think about 120cr people’s welfare. 16. My request to PM is that, stay out of this Team, because JENU KAM TENU KARE BIJO KARE TO GOTO KHAY. It means everyone should do their work. He should get involved at the finalisation of draft. 17. Many politicians might have won the election but they may not have expertise. Never forget that Dr Manmohan Singh is an asset of India. 18.He is not a babblers. 19. STOP communal violence through out India. 20. No party is 100% holy and perfect. I hope that I have made my point clear. I don’t belong to any party. I am ordinary Indian Citizen and think about the welfare of our Country. I am a proud Indian and my religion teaches me to respect and honour those who are having authority. Only God gives power, but power can destroy many things. Someone has said, if you want to check quality of an individual, give him power. Thanks for reading long comment. How can a chai wala who is used to dealing with tea, sugar, milk and tea kettle think about finance, economics and demonetisation. It's almost synonymous to a road side hawker who comes and tells you that he will perform your open heart surgery. And that's precisely what the chai wala did to the country's economy by trying to perform its open heart surgery thinking it is as easy as making tea. Better kick this chai wala out ASAP before he tries to perform other big operations like biopsy, bypass, dialysis, transplant, etc on the country's economy.
