Although the goal of teaching is to establish an environment in which children can learn, students often engage in behavior that distracts them and others from that task. Mild or serious disruptions can range from simply failing to do assigned work through bothering or bullying others, to severe aggression towards classmates and the teacher.
This video provides ways to identify and understand classroom management problems. It illustrates various instructional and management strategies, and provides strategies in defining the problem(s) when the problem is primarily an individual one. It also reviews strategies that can be used when an individual level of intervention is necessary.
A follow-up video on interventions for classroom disruption is at • Interventions for clas... .

INCORRECT: Extinction is NOT ignoring a student. Extinction is 'the procedure of no longer providing the reinforcement that the student usually receives for that behaviour'. IF the child shouts out to get attention (reinforcement) then yes ignoring CAN BE an extinction procedure. IF they shout and other students give them attention then they are not being ignored, therefore, extinction is not being used. IF the child shouts to get sent out of the classroom then ignoring them is NOT extinction. An Extinction procedure for this is, the child no longer leaves the classroom and/or the work expectation. If you have challenging behaviour that does not change from simple intervention please consult with a Behaviour Analyst. If challenging behaviour puts anyone at risk (emotionally, physically etc) consider consulting sooner. Thank you for this video! :)

You have explained all about me (loud and emotional) and will change my classroom management w.e.f. . I teach in an international school and last year had a class from hell since I had 5 kids with ADHD, Asperger's and ADD who gave me sleepless nights. No support from the admin. Now I know what to do next year. Thank you for saving me and my job!!!

Is there a transcript of this somewhere that I can get a hold of? I retain information better when I can silently read it myself.

I know this would not be possible, but If I were a principal, I would want to meet the children of any teacher before I hired them. I would also want to talk with their children's teachers. If you can't manage your own kids, you definitely can't manage a classroom full of kids that aren't yours.

Not all children are same way to manage so first Strong relationships isn't always manageable in the classroom if first there's not managed foundation from the home and family each child is from so first get to know each child daily and build on that and have class assist in their ways how class should be decorated and have the students take beginning parts of classroom so that children knows it's their we'll run classroom not always teacher based but team based with child geared

That's probably how each problem child feels is bored so by being disruptive keeps things in class entertaining to that child so teacher needs to notice that and not label child as the problem
