Thank you for hosting this conversation Tim, it was wonderful speaking with you! I'm very excited at the prospect of educating a new audience on the relief that clinical hypnosis can provide. We've seen time, and time again that it can be a game-changer in a wide range of situations. As I always say to those who ask, what's the worst that could happen? Try it, you might like it!

Thank you for this video. I’ve wanted to watch about this subject for a while and it hit my timing right. To have the means with which to support one’s own health and the expertise gifted through an app where I have context is genuinely great. It’s exciting, and the honesty of a body of work for the greedy consumer (hiya 👋) doesn’t go unappreciated. Thank you for the open conversation.

Thank you Tim for all you do. I live in a beautiful place wildcat canyon east bay & recently found your work. My husband took his life 8 years ago he was 34 I was 37. Now at 44 with your help I’m now realizing that’s not my life & never was post an 8 year nightmare. I’ve been listening to your work, tools & advice. Things, humans as well as insights around me are changing at a rapid rate for the betterment of myself. I really struggled with so much pain physical & mental… I’m now looking into renting my house out moving to Mexico or maybe Argentina because I can actually do whatever I want as I set that up by myself…amen & thank God for strength & willpower. I can’t thank you enough. Seneca has now become part of my daily life as well hypnosis, meditation, hiking, biking, dancing, I’ve also become an Airbnb Superhost by accident lol & many other things. Thank you for helping me heal myself 💕💫🧠🙏💯👁️

How I would love to meet Dr David Spiegel in real life. I appreciate the reflection on his past experiences, the time spent on myth, and factual neuroscience. The comparison on topics of medication and debilitating issues that are flipped on end through your work. Rewriting interpretation.. pain, regret, fear, trauma.. your work invites/guides people into a liberated space. Thanks for this wonderful conversation. I would LOVE this skill to unlock these mental barriers for others too

When he started talking about flow state my first thought was drawing! Drawing is almost like my form of meditation cause it's the only time I really don't focus on all my anxious thoughts or time even. If i'm really focused I'll look up and be surprised hooours have passed.

Absolutely loved this conversation! Thank you both! One thing I’ve learned as a hypnotist, is that people who are more susceptible to PTSD (generally) are people who are better at visualizing and using their imagination…which means..they’re also easier to hypnotize! 🙏

30:04 After experiencing EMDR, this is one of the things I noticed that helped: my focus was on the thing I was watching while also noticing the sensations and thoughts. It's like it helped me get in that meditative state he mentioned earlier because I wasn't entirely able to focus on myself and so I couldn't follow my typical reactions to my internal experiences. I was finally able to experience them all the way through and realize that I didn't need to do anything about my emotions to be okay.

I feel lighter just having listened to this, definitely going to try Reveri. What an interesting insights. I especially loved how you could see Dr. Spiegel instantly turn "on" when Tim said he was game to try hypnosis, thousands of hours of experience that kicked in right there.

Thank you for everything that you do Tim. Your podcast has so much wonderful advice. This has been one of my favourites. I was not sure about hypnosis before - a real skeptic - but I'm ready to try it. Meditation has not helped my overactive brain. I will give Dr Spiegel's advice a try. Reveri sounds like a good way to test this. Thank you again

I hope you enjoy your experience with the app! As noted in the above talk with Tim, meditation and hypnosis are quite different - hypnosis targets a particular problem, and can be 'turned on or off', whereas meditation helps achieve an overall sense of calm, peace and focus. Good luck!

While discussing TMS around the 38 minute mark Dr. Spiegal states “So we could tell whether they actually got the TMS or not. They couldn’t tell.” Am I to understand that the researchers knew before the analysis who had the TMS and then also judged whether or not it made a difference? If this is true is causes me to question everything else in this interview.

I've had extreme social anxiety it's gotten out of hand. I barely left the house barely left my room in the last 4 years. You can never find anybody that does it and if you're lucky enough to find a good psychiatrist they're not accepting new patients.

This sounds extremely frustrating, sorry to hear about how debilitating your social anxiety has become. I recently had a young man reach out to share that self hypnosis helped him overcome much his social anxiety, to the point that he was able to leave his home, drive to other locations and even enter buildings, when previously this wasn't an option at all. I wish you all the best!

I wonder how hypnosis compares to the highly altered states known as Jhanas in Buddhism induced through the development of high concentration.

If there is pain, there is a reason for it. The example of athletes is very good for understanding what happens over time when pain is 'filtered' (ignored) - they destroy their bodies by the age of 20 to 40, depending on the sport. Therefore, I don't recommend this method.

According to the video, powerful learning can be achieved through hypnosis. In the video, David Spiegel, a hypnotist discusses hypnosis and its applications in pain management, treating phobias and anxiety disorders. Here are some of the key points: Hypnosis is a state of focused attention and heightened suggestibility. People who are hypnotized are more receptive to suggestions made by the hypnotherapist. Hypnosis can be used to treat chronic pain. Hypnosis can help people focus away from their pain and reduce their perception of pain. Hypnosis can be used to treat phobias and anxiety disorders. Hypnotherapists can use hypnosis to help people confront their fears in a safe and controlled setting. Hypnosis can be used to improve athletic performance. Hypnosis can help athletes focus on their performance and improve their coordination. Hypnosis is a safe and effective treatment for a variety of conditions. Hypnosis is a complementary therapy that can be used in conjunction with traditional medical treatment.
