50:31...what about other approaches, why don't you compare your approach (to critical thinking) to other approaches... 50:40...I am not looking for an approach, I am not looking for another person's theory, I am looking to live at a higher level of quality and I need all the best tools I can get as a thinker because I can see the deficiencies in my thinking. I see here in this framework that we offer through the foundation, an integrated approach that I have not seen anywhere else. Moreover and most importantly all these concepts that we work with in our approach connect with distinguished thinkers throughout history. These are not new ideas, but they are pulled together in new and more accessible ways.... 52:00...So the question is this, when you are seeking a framework for critical thinking then look for one of substance, and make sure that it does intimately connect with powerful ideas that have been articulated by important thinkers in critical thinking in let us say, the field of critical thinking were we to have such a field.
Thank you for this! In the past several years I have been struck, and stricken, by what appears to be a widespread lack of critical thinking. I hadn’t given much thought to it since “Introduction to Logic 101”, other than trying to teach my children how to be critical of tv propaganda, etc. In the past four years or so I’ve been feeling gut-punched over the phenomenon. This talk was inspirational as well as informative!
