Very nice! I have actually measured the enthalpy of various substances with a bomb-calorimeter., so that is kinda the other side of the medal where you have a measurement for the heat energy and can derive your delta H
so the answer should be positive because the question asks how much heat is released, correct? and combustion reactions release heat meaning that the heat released cannot be negative since that would mean that the equation is endothermic.
hi professor dave, for the last step, shouldnt it be 5461kJ/ 2mol C8H18? In the balanced equation C8H18 has a coefficient of 2, or do you simplify everything to the simplest form?
