Thanks. That was very useful. One aspect I'm not clear about - in the template on your website you talk about 'dissecting' pieces and 'note bashing'. I'm not sure what you mean by those. Is there another video that explains them?
Apologies - I'm so used to saying this to my pupils that I forget it needs an explanation. When you 'dissect' a piece you isolate tricky passages and work on them - just a bar or two. This is kind of like a microscopic approach to a tricky section. Note bashing, is just my general term for replaying passages and scales etc to build up familiarity and muscle memory. Hope that explains it!
There are many different books which are great. One of my faves for beginners is Michael Aaron Piano Course - Lessons, book (grade) 1. However, there are plenty of great books to choose from.
Mam, what do you suggest when buying a piano. Should I buy grand, upright or digital. Currently my daughter has casio digital ap470 which she has been playing from last 3 years, she does play on grand and upright. But I feel there is more space for articulation dynamics on acoustic piano than digital one. I am planning to but acoistic one. Your input is appreciated. I am a follower from.6 years
I'm afraid that it's impossible for me to properly answer your question. It depends so much upon your personal preferences, and your circumstances. You are quite right that an acoutistic offers much more in many ways, but space, maintanance, tuning etc all need to be considered. I have recorded a vlog on this some time ago, which you might find helpful in making your choice. (See link below). Thank you for your kind support. Hi. I'm afraid the scales have changed for the new syllabus and so I've had to remove it from my website. I hope to add it back again, with the new scales as soon as I can.
