Hello RU-vidrs! A special hello to my fellow PRELOADERS! For those of you that aren't PRELOADERS yet, hit that subscribe button and become one. Welcome to Practice Session #20! As always we had a blast, but more importantly confidence levels were raised and that's always the ultimate goal. So sit back and relax and watch Clay, John, Kyle, David, Richard & Kevin on their quest to become the Boss of their motorcycles!
You may be asking yourself, who are PRELOADERS?
PRELOADERS:
Subscribers to this channel who are dedicated to being proficient in slow speed motorcycle operation.
What does PRELOAD mean?
PRELOAD:
Engaging the throttle to raise the RPM’s (revolutions per minute) above idle and holding the throttle there, with the clutch pulled in (no power to the rear wheel, “in reserve” “PRELOADED”). This process will make power to the rear wheel available to the rider immediately when the clutch is opened up. There’s no need for the rider to be concerned with twisting the throttle for power because it’s already PRELOADED.

Gotta tell ya...was stuck in traffic last night. Had your voice in my head "preload..and keep it loaded"!!! Went OVER A MILE at one point without putting my feet down!!! No huge gaps in front of me, or behind me. Just slow moving at 10-15mph. And some spots was almost stopped. (I don't know if anyone cheered for me...but I think I deserved it!) YOU are a game changer for many of us. Thank you.

Oh do I know that feeling and experience of hearing Robert in the head. That Slow Ride is no joke. Did you find yourself pushing and pulling your handlebars to keep your bike up and not putting your feet down? I can't wait to get my "I Am The Boss Of My Motorcycle shirt. Know this I use to work in a psychiatric hospital and I have to tell myself I am not schizophrenic when I hear his voice in my head LMAO Stay safe bro.

I agree with you, Robert, about the truck drivers not needing to look at their guages while turning. I have been driving 18-wheeler for 31 years now and have even taught people how to drive. Plus I have competed and placed in both the states of Washington and Utah truck driving championships. Anywho.... when I turn, I look where I need to go because I have 53 feet of trailer that needs to be placed properly so as not to take out anything... cones, cars, people, etc. I look at my guages during "at speed" maneuvers in my truck, not during slow speed maneuvers. This was a great class today. That DCT was interesting. I know of some people that could benefit on that bike. Being the boss of my motorcycles!!!!

I really enjoyed this practice session and the group. I always enjoy Bill, Pam and Clay because they I am cheering for them because they remind me of riding. Along with you Lt.....when you give out Real Talk instructions with no "bull". Clay and Pam (sorry she was not here) motivate me with their positive attitude and willingness to learn. When I go out for ride on these small crowded streets in Angeles City, I try to do all of the exercises......The Slow Ride I went on yesterday I think it felt like I was behind you on the follow the leader on the sidewalk.....I was so busy looking up but dang it felt like I had stop moving at least 3 times 😃 I began riding a big bike in 2019 and I was a 0 rating in SSOS. Today at 75, I rate myself a 4. Thanks to you for everything you do and say in your practice video I am having a ball riding my motorcycle. God bless and stay safe.

Also keep your head and eyes up and look straight ahead. I have had a lot of tip overs with my heavy weight when I first got it. For normal braking I apply the front and rear brake and I try to keep my handlebars as straight as I can. As the bike starts to slows down I ease off the front brake and finish with the rear brake with my left foot down when the bike is stopped. I sure hope this helps you Ben. 😊

Thank you for these videos man! I was wondering if I could ask you a question about preloading. When doing slow maneuvers, do you use the clutch to dictate speed while the throttle remains constant? Or do you use both throttle and clutch? Thank you
@jolkraeremeark6949

Clutch and rear brake to control speed, the throttle should remain constant. If you can keep the throttle constant, it's one less element from the equation you don't have to worry about.

Hello Robert! I am thoroughly enjoying your channel! I appreciate your realness and the practicality of your content. Question, I saw in one of the videos where you showed your air/tire pump that you have on the wall. I cannot seem to locate that video to find out what kind of air generator you are using. Could you say again what it is? Thank you!
