love downtown Savannah. Went down river street on my street glide with factory suspension a few years ago in the summer, people walking everywhere. Those old roads will test your suspension and patience lol...RIDE SAFE
Great job by you both - maybe my next Harley I’ll do the Wilber’s … Stefan is a cool cat - glad you welcomed him to your home with open arms. I sure hope a lot of your Preloaders follow Stefan to help him out as well. Camaraderie is great in the biker world 🤙
Iron sharpens iron. When you encircle yourself with positivity you can’t help to be positive. Nice job out there Stefan and Robert. Ride safe and ride often. Peace.
I run the traxxion dynamics cartridge kit in the front and wilburs in the rear. All I can say is wow! 2012 ultra limited. Rides like a caddy, so smooth and responsive. It's worth every penny. The self leveling feature of the wilburs is awesome!
@BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle I don't know about you, but when my bike is fully loaded with gear and wife, I'm 1300 lbs. And it rides nice and level with the wilburs. I upgraded in 2022 from legends, and even my wife is impressed.
Great team work fellows. 2 cultures from different continents one common language - Motorcycle. Not to many Harleys cruising River Street, I had a hard time walking on it haha
I really liked the post, good job. I upgraded my Harley with the Ohlins both front and rear and what a difference. Stock bikes suspensions sucks and you don't realize how bad it was until you change it. Not only is the ride better but also the cornering. I always ride 2 up and had more weight than I should have had on long trips, it was night and day difference. My second best upgrade was stroking the motor, we have some pretty good grades we pull out here in the west. I'm really impressed with the self leveling feature of the Wilbers.
I just ordered this and I'm going to so disappointed that I won't get the personal installation and keychain! But I am super looking forward to my new Wilburs! Thanks for the video!
First off; thank you so much for what you do!! You guys appear to be a remarkable team- great video; you both worked in sync- very nice!!! Thanks again!
I have a RKS 2023 with the 12" broomsticks underneath. I have been haggling against that huge sum of money of $2800 icl mounting for months!!! And if I decide to buy now....then the season is over with 6wk delivery time (grtz from holland)
Congrats on the Wilbers upgrade Rob! It’s definitely a game changer. I upgraded to Wilbers this past spring and immediately noticed the difference. The best part is I no longer have to remove the saddle bag to adjust my suspension for two up riding, it’s all plug n play 👍🏿. It’s sad that H-D would manufacture and sell a 30k motor and skimp on the suspension.
That's my biggest critique of the brand. I get the heritage and history; but damn. It feels like highway robbery what they want for these bikes, and then what they upsell you. I'm a BMW rider, maybe im biased, but what you pay for a Harley, you can get a fully loaded beemer and have some change left over.
Stefan is is classy as the Wilbers products themselves. I credit his efforts in these videos for helping me to decide to purchase these in the Spring of 23. As far as the train tracks go, I've ridden racing bicycles over tracks for years. The first thing you learn is to cross the tracks at as oblique an angle as you can. I found out the hard way after the tracks grabbed my front tire and put me on the ground.
Robert great video and thanks for sharing. My son and I put the Wilber’s on my 20 Road Glide and my 16 Road King. The suspension, in my opinion, is the best.
Great video. Not surprised at all that Stephan would want to come and do an install. You just make presentation and teaching an art. I also got to meet Mrs S. Happy Sunday. ♥️🇺🇸
I put this in my 21 CVO RoadGlide and it was transformative. Been riding for 40 years and have had many Harleys. Have tried all the competitors like Ohlins, ProAction, Legends etc. They are all way better then the garbage that Harley puts on stock, but this one tops them all. Only regret I have is I paid full price, I always miss out on these sweet deals. 15% is real money at $2K.
@@zoof1 That would have been a real "sweet deal", business class round trip ticket, limousine service, 5 star hotel, I don't know where to stop. Would have cost You more than the CVO...😎
@@stefansgarage3014 Wow, Robert must be a serious playa to be able to afford all that 👍 That’s ok I actually enjoyed installing the kit. Now stop reviewing new stuff, I’m broke.
Ahh Robert man this content is music to my ears, and stimuli for my eyes. I work on German cars for a living, and the attention to detail Mr. Stefan practices here, that's everyday life for me. I haven't any personal experience with this suspension setup on a Harley, but it looks like quality stuff.
I have already clicked the follow button on Stefan’s page, and I am wowed by how you two worked together. Such a positive vibe between you two. I absolutely loved this install video, just like all of your videos. Thank You for what you do for the riding community.
The amazing stefan. Btw thanks for mentioning nyc, I rode out to Connecticut today and coming home it took almost 2 hours just on the hutch and Jackie Robinson ,I totally am ready to move. Ps.i had alot time to practice my slow speed skill
wow impressive! I wont go all in on a upgrade like this for an electra glide standard but for my next bike wilbur suspension will be top consideration Thanks for another outstanding video Robert
Great video. I bought Legend Revo-A shocks for my rear. Thinking I made the wrong choice now. Especially with my wife wanting to ride with me a bit now. The Revo is a pain in the butt to adjust for the two up scenario. Love the camera work on the bumpy road ride. It really shows that front suspension working!
Thank you very much! Thank you for watching and hopefully you’re subscribed to my RU-vid channel!👍🏾😊 ru-vid.com I’m happy that my channel has been helpful to you! That makes all the time and effort that I put into this so worthwhile!
What an excellent review on a quality product. Stefan completed that "Like a Boss". I would love to work on my bike that quickly 😆. Well done and thank you for sharing Robert. ✌
Just installed this set up on my 21 Road Glide Special this past weekend. It’s really as easy as the video shows and the ride quality improved greatly. Only about 50 miles on it so far but I’m loving it so far. Great video Robert!
I just want to say thank you, thank you, thank you, I seen your video up and didn't get a chance to watch it until last night. And good thing I did. Because it was the last day to get the extra discount. So when I got home from work last night and 10 minutes before midnight I ordered the shocks and got the discount. So thank you once again.
I just bought Legend Revo A’s for my 2013 FLHTC. I put them, on my 1993 FLHS and was blown away at the difference. I had heard so much about them, so I set my bar pretty high and was still impressed. Then , because the bike was so old, I had to go for progressive cartridges in the front. That bike is tight. I’m hoping I get so much from the Revo’s that I don’t have to spend $2K on the Legend cartridges which are twice the price as the Progressive. I just couldn’t afford the Wilber’s which I’ve watch that Million Dollar Bogan totally abuse. I actually just retired and I’m traveling the country for the foreseeable future. I’ve notice that when the bike is loaded with all my gear and luggage, the front tire actually looses traction. I’m hoping the far superior new shocks fix that. Otherwise I’ve got to do the front too. Stefan, he did MDB’s bikes
For your type of travels, the Wilbers will be perfect. With 2K for just front cartridges, the price for the full Wilbers seems to be not too bad. Remember, front & rear should be in harmony, so I'd stick to a single brand.
Robert you knocked it out of the park again. Great video, great footage, outstanding instruction by Stefan. Wilbers should be proud to have a brand ambassador like Stefan promoting and installing their product. Keep the great content coming. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Trucker Gary 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Very cool video! I mostly tune in to the practice sessions, but the variety of your videos is ON POINT! I loved that video last week where you showed an alternative(better) way to pick up a motorcycle. Maybe one day I'll ride over from Arkansas and do a practice session with y'all!
I just did the 131 kit, revo in rear, lyndall brake pads, heated grips, V/H hiflow. Next is front suspension, bars, leds, maybe better seat comfort for my wife. 21' road glide special billard teal. Hopefully my equity is stellar now. Has 1177 miles
Enjoyed the Video. I have a Wilber’s on the back of my FJR works great went with a Full Legend on m y Cvo and a Full progressive on my Glide. The wilbers is nice as I never have to adjust the preload as with the others I have to. Keep them coming Robert enjoying the variety.
Very good choice! After having installed it, You will know why Robert and I (and many others) are so convinced. Make sure the install is done correctly, like mentioned in the video.
I've had the upgrade on my 2019 Ultra Limited since May 2021. It's a huge improvement in handling in all situations. I agree with Robert. I just wonder why I didn't get such a nice tshirt from Wilbers? Greetings to you all!
Awesome video & incredible good teamwork. It was a lot of fun to watch you both. And: Congratulations for this fantastic piece of technique from Wilbers for Violet. It was smart not to send Stefan over the cobblestones with Blaze and the original Harley suspension. The risk would have been too great that he would not have been able to make the return flight with back problems. 😉
Robert, thanks for this video. I have been looking at suspension choices for a few months and credit to your video, I purchased the Wilbers over the others. Had Ohlins on my CVO Road Glide and now I have a Street Glide. Great video, I want to do this myself if I don't go broke buying tools:) Thanks again. I enjoy your channel!
Hey Ed. Thank you for watching and hopefully you’re subscribed!👍🏾😊 I’m happy that my channel has been helpful to you! That makes all the time and effort that I put into this so worthwhile! I love mine and I’m sure you will enjoy yours as well! It’s my pleasure. 😊 Please keep me apprised on how the install goes.
Hi Ed, good choice. Check out my Street Glide Special install video, a few upgrades to the install on Violett (no seat/tank removal), you will only need a few special sockets (19mm Allen, 1/4in Allen, 6mm Allen, 12mm 12point, 15/16 socket, 3/4in socket and some basic stuff).Be careful when opening the fork tubes
I've been researching these over the summer. Couldn't pass up the discount, pulled the trigger and ordered yesterday. Hope they are as good as reported. Thanks for the extra 5%, good deal.
Great video, thank you. The dialogue between Stefan and you was as wonderful as the content. You both are passionate and this was a truly enjoyable video. I feel the bumps terribly on my 21 CVO RG. My back needs Wilbers! Have a great weekend gentlemen and fly safe Stefan. You are now an official sales rep for Pooler :). Be safe and well. As always, great to see Blaze out there.
@@stefansgarage3014 it hurts to buy the top of the line that H-D makes (CVO) and then trash the suspension system immediately. But in the few miles I have ridden in the DC area, I will need to make that decision sooner rather than later.
@@pd6569 Believe me, it doesn't hurt necessarily.I took advantage of the Oktoberfest 2018 and had the Wilbers sitting 7 months in the garage until I Red Pepper was delivered. I only rode it home from the dealership on stock suspension and swapped it immediately-and that was my time before being affiliated with Wilbers.
@@stefansgarage3014 good morning Stefan. Based on your recommendations as well as Roberts, I have reached out to the Wilburs dealership in New Jersey. As I am located in northern Virginia, it is a bit of a ride. However, after watching the meticulous way that you installed the suspension system, I did not want to bring any old H-D dealership. I told them if it wasn’t you installing it, I wanted it to be another professional. So I am trying to take advantage of Oktoberfest but at the same time get it installed by professionals there. I look forward to riding the dream bike with a superior suspension system that doesn’t give me the feeling I’m losing a kidney when I hit a bump. I believe you said it best, the stock suspension is garbage. Ride, fly and be well
Based primarily off your review (with a few others I looked at after) I got the full Wilbers kit. All I can say is WOW! You don't really realize how terrible the factory suspension. Is, until you ride another bike, or a bike with a real suspension. The BEST money I've spent on my bike.! It will change the way you ride, for sure!
I’m glad you pulled the trigger on them. I have to agree with you. I didn’t realize it until I did. Another example of you don’t know what you don’t know.
DAMN IT ! Robert that is a beautiful machine damn it looks nice 👍🏾 and some. As always Robert God Bless you and family . PS: By the way each time you get on any of your bikes you’re flying, remember riding a motorcycle is almost like flying without leaving the ground.
Got a 1990 old police Electra glide. The suspension is really bad. Feels like a rigid rear with no suspension at all and the front is bad too. Good thing is, now I know what to do about it. Thanks Robert for the video. Great stuff.
Hi James, Wilbers might not carry a set for your old lady. Maybe just fork springs, I'm not sure if the Nivomat shocks have enough room behind those older style saddle bags.
Great team you two and great American tour! Stefan WHY don’t they measure your weight in Germany BUT in America you must? I just ordered but not mention of weight in Germany? Thanks Tom
what"s good LT ? first congrats on your 1year anniversary, I been a subscriber since practice# 2 and all thought i never been to any of your sessions, mentaly it has made me be a better rider. As you know up in Bklyn just riding in these streets is practice alone. And this video about the suspension is prime to everyone in the riding community. I will definitely check out Stefan garage, please give some updates on your Wilbers suspension as the months go by txks, all the best to your family and your youtube site.
Man awesome product I might look into it myself I currently put air ride real suspension so I can raise and lower my bike because I do carry a lot of gear when I go for a weeklong rides but the front forks I have been looking for a good front fork suspension thank you Robert for the time and effort you do to put in these videos they are very helpful preloading keep it loaded
@@BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle Thank you for responding, Sir- This is a great channel, very engaging with the viewers. Being a new rider, I have used your techniques with great success. Still have a lot to learn, so I will keep watching. Thank you for paying it forward.
So..your motorcycle is in the garage on the jack. Does it mean we can come and pay a nickel to sit on it and make vroom vroom sounds while you got a fan blowing in our face. Get your motor running cranked on the stereo!! 😂😂❤️🇺🇸
Wow...wow...wow!!! Great video with Stefan!!! ....and the best part is you now have experience with Wilbur front & rear and ohlins rear suspension...now my question is which is your preference between the 2 so far? I don't remember if valiant has front suspension upgrade? This was really a cool video and Stefan nailed his u-turn...appreciate this video thanks for taking time to share...WOW!!!
Great video Robert, and Great having Stefan there to join you. You can see he's knowledgeable and seems to be a cool guy. In a previous video you were impressed with Ohlins suspension, would Wilbers now be your 1st choice ?
bummer the discount code is expired. Great video though Robert. Wilburs is definitely near the top of the list of shocks I'm interested in for my RG, just need to find a valid discount now....
I heard Wilbur make a good suspension. It's costly like the others. Looking at a couple of different options. Waiting for my 21 roadglide limited to arrive. I hear legends are great.
They definitely are great, but they don't offer self leveling technology, so you need to find the perfect setting for single and two up first AND remove both bags every time you switch. With the Wilbers, you will remove the bags only to clean the bike...
Every Dealership can install them, they just need to observe fork spring orientation and the 20mm rear sag adjustment. Laidlaws HD was the first dealership in the US to install them.
I hear you. If your installer is a mechanic, following the instructions should be easy for them. Especially if they’ve changed front suspension before.
Nice Video, thanks for sharing. After viewing some other videos about suspension mods for my FLHRC I pulled the trigger. Stefan du hast auch einen neuen Abonnenten, Du lieferst da einen super Job ab (würde der nicht mehr Spass machen als Bus-Fahrer, ääh Pilot?) I used the discount code and the Oktoberfest, it's also valid in Europe!!
Bus driver and Wrencher, the best of both worlds...! The Oktoberfest is definitely happening in Germany, I think as well in Austria and Switzerland. The Promo Code is for US Preloaders only, I'm afraid.
;-) But getting a Wilbers LDC was an obvious choice.. 30 Years ago I bought a 1972 Range Rover, with his genius suspension design that has right from the factory one BOGE Nivomat in the middle of the rear axle.
Robert, thanks again for another excellent video. I’ve been looking for a rear suspension upgrade where I don’t have to keep adjusting it for the different loads. The stock setup sucks. I see the price has gone up since your video, just two months it’s gone up to $2300, wow! I’m wondering if you considered the iRide Suspension system from Thunder-Max when you picked out the Wilbers? It too is an automatic leveling system but it uses electronic sensor and an air pump. I have to say that I like the idea of the Wilbers system, seems a lot simpler and less problematic.
Good video. I have been waiting for this. I have researched the Wilbers and was on the fence but have heard nothing but positive reviews from all I have contacted who are running them. Have Ohlins 772's on my 2021 RGS now (from my street glide) but hate the constant reset of sag for 2up vs 1 up. Will be pulling the trigger now. One question for Stefan, I will have the forks apart for chrome sliders soon. I have been considering replacing the stock damper rod with a Traxxion AK-25 damper. What are your thoughts about the Traxxion damper rod and the Wilbers springs & fluid?
Sorry there is no stock damper rod, it is the same hardware for all M8 Touring (except the CVO Road Glide with 21in front wheel). I had "golden" cartridges on my 2011 Road King and there was no difference to the Wilbers fork on a 2013 of my friend. I would save the money and take the Wilbers fork springs (you'll get them anyway with the kit). Seeing the fork at work on River Street, I think is impressive enough.
@@stefansgarage3014 Maybe you didn't understand what I was asking, there are damper tubes in all M8 touring front suspensions as well as any suspension except those using gas cartridges. I called them rods but they are tubes that control the dampening. The "golden" cartridges you used I assume were Race Tech gold valve emulators or the gold Ohlins cartridge front suspension. The Wilbers springs are helping the suspension action of the front end ( compression/rebound) but have nothing to do with dampening, that is controlled by the damper tube with it's holes. That is what I was asking about, whether you have any experience combining the Wilbers springs and oil with a performance damper tube like the Traxxion AK-25. The AK-25 has a Traxxion emulator in the tube. I'll reach out to Traxxion and get their input. I do plan on giving the Wilbers a try.
You are right, I got You wrong-sorry about that. I have no experience with additional aftermarket damping tubes. The Wilbers fork is balanced between the spring (rate, progression) and the damping (oil viscosity) with the stock damping tube, I wouldn't bring in another variant. You see how well the fork copes with River Street. As well it does on fast turns on the Autobahn with 100+ mph. I wasn't aware that there are companies making aftermarket damping tubes for Harleys, do they recommend to use their own oil? I will definitely do some research on them.
@@amberbali8881 I just reviewed their website and I wouldn't combine it with the Wilbers fork. I have never had a customer (as You know, I have my own small shop) not being happy with the Wilbers setup. I don't know if the additional 499$ of the aftermarket damping tubes and topout springs do a noticeable further improvement or even disturb the balance.
Great video, I was looking at Koni and race tech, but when I started doing research and the Help of you and Stefan..... I just ordered Wilbers. On another note, I see your handle bars are not high. Do you feel that if you go to a higher bar like a 14 inch, will you loose slow turning ability, leverage. I was able to sit on a Road Glide with 14 in Factory 47 and loved the position. The stock bars on my 2022 Road Glide are very uncomfortable, they pull my elbows into my body and put my hands in an uncomfortable position. I am 6' 2". Your thoughts please.
Thank you very much! I’m happy that my channel has been helpful to you! That makes all the time and effort that I put into this so worthwhile! You’re going to love them! If you notice in my latest videos, I upgraded the handlebars on Violet to 12” Factory 47 bars and it feels so much better! They were way to low. For our height, any of these touring motorcycle bars will have to be replaced. I also added 12” Factory 47 bars to my CVO Road Glide.
I have purchased this system recently, I will be installing but i need to know did Stefan put the compression tube back in the fork? or is it not needed?
I'm looking to place wilbers shocks front and back on a 2015 ultra limited, do you have any recommendation for installers, I to have many lights on the bike!
Thank you for watching and hopefully you’re subscribed!👍🏾😊 You’re going to love them. Sorry I don’t have any recommended installers, however any Harley Dealership should be able to handle the job.
