Hello Preloaders! Welcome to Practice Session #5! This video covers nine different exercises to practice and help improve your confidence, which in turn, will make you a safer motorcycle rider.
We had a great time out there as usual! This video was recorded on Sunday, December 27, 2020. We had great weather, although the day started very cold. So if you want to check out Dino, Dorlene, Hector, Bill, Kenn and myself practicing and well on our way to becoming the BOSS of our motorcycles, get a snack and come on in!
You may be asking yourself, who are PRELOADERS?
PRELOADERS:
Subscribers to this channel who are dedicated to being proficient in slow speed motorcycle operation.
What does PRELOAD mean?
PRELOAD:
Engaging the throttle to raise the RPM’s (revolutions per minute) above idle and holding the throttle there, with the clutch pulled in (no power to the rear wheel, “in reserve” “PRELOADED”). This process will make power to the rear wheel available to the rider immediately when the clutch is opened up. There’s no need for the rider to be concerned with twisting the throttle for power because it’s already PRELOADED.

For this man to come out and share his experience with other riders is awesome. If you do not learn anything watching this video then you are not committed to learning. Hell of a teacher and character at it's finest to teach you something for free. If you came here to learn something and did learn something...he shared his experience with you/us. At least hit the like button and subscribe. Since you are not paying for the lesson. just my .02.

Hector has no business riding that bike!!Nothing worse than someone buying a big motorcycle that they can’t handle.It’s best to start with a smaller bike and then work your way up to the big boy’s bike.Awesome instructor not only shows you but also explains the physics on how to balance the motorcycle.Great instructor made a big difference for these riders!Good luck to Hector and the others who were brave enough to be recorded for everyone to see on RU-vid,stay safe all on two wheels 🙏🏻🏍️

I don't understand how anyone is allowed to buy a big motorcycle like those without any formal training or a license, that's dangerous, it's very nice that people like you take the time they help other riders. Good work, keep it up.

I live in Mexico City and my motor bike is in Montgomery Texas and will drive back over 2 days. Your videos are so empowering to everyone even if you do not ride. Do not stop teaching you are doing an incredible job. Thank you very much. I found your channel two days ago, I've watched a few hours so far, thank you for doing this. I bought my first bike when I got out of the army in 1972, taught myself to ride on a used small Honda street/trail bike. Then a trail bike, then a motocross bike to play in the woods. Going fast and jumping things was fun but crawling along slowly over obstacles was more challenging and satisfying. Now I'm on a 40 year old Harley that I bought in 1998, it has a jockey shift and 'suicide' foot clutch, guess I like challenges. I am comfortable on the bike but after watching you I need to learn your techniques, with some modification for my setup. I am a long way from an 18 ft u-turn, practice, practice, and more practice in the future. When the weather warms up enough and I fix the pesky transmission oil seal leak I'll see what I can do. Thanks again for doing this. As an ex long haul truck driver who interacted with too many officers, you are one of a very few I would like to meet.

I just ran across your channel for the first time today. I’m new to riding after being on a 20 year break. I have a RK so basically feel like I’m starting new. I’ve learned so much from 3 main guys on here. Honestly if it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be able to ride a RK. My point to all of this I’ve literally watched a couple thousand videos the last year and half. Probably from at least 10 different channels. I’ve just started watching yours, but I can say out of all I’ve watched your personality is in my opinion the best I’ve seen on here as in conveying what your teaching. Keep up what your doing! I have followed Jerry Palladino of Ride Like a Pro, and really appreciate you teaching these police slow riding skills like he does... I class myself not only a re=loader but also a re-entry rider... grew up on a bike in high school, but had not been on one for 47 years. Now have a Honda shadow 750 for about 4 years. took the basic riding course before getting my license for the bigger bike. I live in western Canada so only have a short riding season. So just to say I really appreciate what you are doing to make riders safer... Thanks again... later....

Good content, thanks for making it. The weekly practice is a great idea. If I may be so bold to suggest a modification to your first exercise, ask them to look ahead when coming around the corner and gauge how long the line is, then slow down and try to time their arrival with the departure of the last person in line. That way they spend less time in line and could simulate trying to slowly approach a red light so it turns green before you have to stop.
@BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle

Hey Tom. Thanks and absolutely you can be so bold. 😊 Thanks for the suggestion. I actually want them to come to a complete stop. 👍🏾
@tormkg9879
@tormkg9879 3 года назад
@@BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle Agreed, but you want them to ride as slowly as possible before that. As it is they are riding up to the line and queuing up, with this added directive they may slow down earlier and aim to have the only time they actually stop be the moment they reach the cones, having just watched the student ahead stop and receive their coaching. You do fine work, thanks for the service.

Thank you for awesome instruction and the constant reminders of each of the techniques. In the U turn (and other exercises) you specifically say to lean (not necessarily steer the bike). Can you describe your leaning technique? Is it pushing the handlebars to make the lean? Is this also relating to pulling in the clutch to get that lean? On our large HDs that have heavy fairings, how do you combat the feeling of the weight of the fairing while doing these techniques (and not having to manhandle the bike)? Watching you demonstrate is beautiful! Once winter clears in the north, I can hardly wait to practice these drills!
@BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle
@BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle 3 года назад
Hey Dallas. My pleasure. Leaning the bike is pretty much done by literally letting it lean while turning and the only thing preventing it from falling is keeping power to the rear wheel while staying on the friction zone. The weight of the fairing or anything else is irrelevant. As long as you provide sufficient power to the rear wheel, the motorcycle will not fall. Trust and believe!😊👍🏾

Hey Rob, another great video! I'm headed out this afternoon to recreate it. Watching some of your students' issues, I am (without solicitation for sure) gonna suggest you supplement your "PreLoad!" with (1) PreLoad, (2) Stay Loaded, (3) Release and Roll-on. The failure point seems to be the third piece. Some are releasing too little/too much and some are forgetting the throttle. Teaching that additional roll-on from the preloaded position helps me remember. Might help others. If I'm out of bounds, just ignore ;)

Do you have to shift your body weight to the opposite side of the turn when making a sharp circle or any sharp turn to maintain balance, or when you look to the direction you're going your body automatically shifts that weight? Thank you again! - Maria
