Hi Ralph, your right observation is everything and being able to visualise a photo, slowing down is the key, I enjoyed this week’s video.

Great video Ralph, observation and slowing down are two very underrated skills, I'm particularly poor on slowing down myself 😂. A pity about the old house that got me a little excited (wondering if dawn or twilight might do it justice... especially if you subtly introduced some led lighting behind the walls or some light painting). Oh there's a third skill to try out imagination , mine often runs away with me 😂... Have a great week ahead buddy 🙏🙏🙏

Glad you enjoyed it Izzy. The old house would need a very different treatment as it is fairly ugly breeze block style. Light painting is on my list of things so who knows.. Thank you for watching and commenting and enjoy your week

Another great photography outing and very true 'Observation'. It sure is a skill we all need to learn when out and about. Captured some great shots, many thanks for sharing your thoughts - have a great week.

Hi Ralph, nice video and yes practicing our observation is very important. What I do enjoy from your videos is watching how you shoot in harsh light. I live in Australia and this is a factor that I often have to deal with. It’s very limiting to only shoot during in the golden hour, so I always appreciate seeing how you go about capturing nice landscapes in the harsh light. 👍

Glad you enjoyed it Peter. I have recently become more drawn to daytime and harsh light photography although a few golden hour shoots will still be featuring. Thank you for watching and commenting

Good message again Ralph… If you don’t already know his work check out Ernst Haas the Life photographer from the 19502-80s who had an amazing ability to see images where others would just walk by and be oblivious. Added to observation was his ability to pre-visualise the final image image, whether in New York streets, sporting /wildlife or in the landscape…

Nice video Ralph, observation is important and especially if it is a new area maybe a walk and check out that area. See if the shots work or maybe return after a rethink. Thanks for highlighting that. 👌

I liked the Pano at the end the tall trees gave an interesting skyline . I would have cropped in tighter just the building and trees .Cheers Pete

That was brilliant and informative this week Ralph, yes ironically sine my sciatica problems over the winter it has slowed me right down and yes i' am observing better now to what i used to. Also this expectation on planning a trip out never goes to plan so you do the best you can with the conditions your faced with and nine out of ten times you come away with something worth while
@RalphGoldsmith

Glad you found it useful Jim. I hope the sciatica is getting better. I have some of that from time to time and I know how bad it can be. Thank you for watching and commenting

Great points Ralph. Photographically wise I like to think I'm always observant when it comes to relationship observations not so much haha I'm like a blind man who's been jabbed in the eyes with a sharp stick. One of the best ways I've found to be observant is getting out on the old leg iron, going to places I can't reach in a car etc. I can spot a location make a note of best times and conditions to shoot then come back when the times right.
