Great video, I want to keep the stock suspension but concerned the extra weight, will it affect driving dynamics of the Kakadu? Is there a Kakadu vehicle specific reason you didn’t put on spots as well? Thanks
Just having the bar should not have any significant effect on driving dynamics. If you add a winch I'd be looking at upgrading the suspension. We have a different bash plate to suit Kakadu models
@@offroadanimal Clearly the bar doesn't weigh very much to affect the front suspension, which would then indicate it is a very flimsy bar. Any quality steel bar requires front spring upgrade to handle the extra weight, regardless if it has a winch or not. That's one ugly bar!
@@unclebob5686 Every time you comment you sounds more dumb. Strength in design mate, not just sure material thickness. It's possible to design things stronger and lighter. Every industry does this over time. You can fit a heavy bar to your horse and carriage as you seem to be stuck in the past. Also the fact you keep commenting on our videos shows you have nothing better to do as you hate our bar so why waste time on these videos. Move along and find something productive to do
We put tons of info on this bar on our website, check it out offroadanimal.com.au/products.php?product=Predator-bull-bar%2C-Suitable-for-Toyota-Prado-150-Series-2018-on&showHidden=true the weight is right up the top on the website, 55kg, and about 12kg is removed. No need to change suspension unless you're adding a winch
Pretty amateur install tbh Would be interesting to see what it looks like after hitting something. Looks more cosmetic than a functional bar for protection
Thanks for your feedback. Show us your design and install please to compare. All reports so far for the hundreds sold is roos just bouncing off the bar.
@@unclebob5686 Sorry Bob with out Data you're just another person with an unproven opinion. If you want ARB go buy ARB I'm sure you'll be happy with their bar as they make great bars as do we.
I’ll be honest. I know that the original bumper is plastic etc so not very sturdy. This however looks very “flimsy” to me, in terms of its ability to fend off a Kangaroo strike for eg. There’s too many pieces held together with what appear to be mild steel bolts. Not high tensile bolts. The inner wheel arch liners that were trimmed weren’t fixed to the back of the bar - just left to flap in the breeze? The upper bolts and washers on the red recovery points with small washer looked like they might pull through the slotted hole on a decent snatch strap recovery. This video basically turned me off buying an Off Road Animal looped bar for my 2020 Prado VX. Not impressed at all. Sorry, just calling it as I see it. Maybe it would look a lot better colour coded to match the vehicle rather than black.
So you're obviously a bit one sided here. Yes we make a full version with hoops to suit larger roos. But this style is for people who go offroad and want protection offroad (not just animals). Great place to house a winch, have recovery points and lights. No need for all the hoops when you live in town and rarely see a roo but still go offroad. This bar will is as strong as, it's made with thicker steel, and braced better than most. Allows for better air flow and wider spacing for mounting bolts so less likely to move after a hit. The fact you can not see that in the video proves you've never looked at another bar before. Now all bolts are high tensile, we only supply that. how the hell could you tell otherwise from this video. but all 8.8 or greater No the inner liner doesn't flap in the breeze, watch the video again, the under panel holds it up. Guess what, every bull bar manufacturer does this, from ARB to TJM. It's how it's done. Also colour choice is a preference, we supply loads of colour coded bars, but this customer wanted black, don't shoot them from having a colour preference different to yours.
@@offroadanimal Pretty arrogant response to reasonable feedback, great way to run a business. Your response, “less likely to move after a hit” tends to suggest you haven’t actually tested it. Cable ties wtf. I won’t be fitting one to my new Prado either.
@@offroadanimal So I ended up buying AFN colour coded and fitted & couldn’t be happier. Just for some context. Bought my first roo bar in 1975, and had them on every vehicle since (46 years) ARBs Irvin’s, etc. All I was trying to point out, was that watching your video convinced me to remove ORA from my short list. I’m guessing that wasn’t your intention in filming or publishing it. I viewed it, because social media recommendations got it put on the short list. The video saw me remove it from the short list. I’m assuming that wasn’t the intention of filming and uploading the video, one presumes you filmed it to help sell more bars. So my point in commenting was that maybe you might consider things that I mentioned in relation to how you film and edit / publish your videos maybe. Perhaps address issues like what quality / grade of bolts you use. To me they looked like low grade “chinesium” made from recycled sardine cans, and all the strength of case hardened plasticine. Obviously they aren’t - but your video would be improved if your voice over pointed out that fact is all. Rather than get butt hurt by the comments and feel a need to “defend your product”, perhaps it would be better to re edit your video to remove any possible confusion? That was my point at the end of the day. I’ve seen Harry’s (Fire to Fork) ORA hooped bar on his 2020 VX and it looks pretty good. But I still chose AFN in preference because to my eye it looked a little better again. Others taste may vary, beauty being in the eye of the beholder.
