Totally agree...I have the M100 and it is really superb....but like you said, the 36mm is on my grail list and when I have it, my son can have the larger one.

You're comparing a roughly ( Aud ) $4000 vertex to a $1300 Praesidus... might as well compare a Toyota to a Ferrari

Hey there, Oscar Chabrat here - the Brand Director for Praesidus Watch Co. To answer you question about thickness - it's mostly linked to the double domed sapphire crystal and the interaction between the very high indexes and the minute hand that extends above the indexes. This forces us to put the hands higher above the dial to avoid crashing into the indexes - thus increasing the thickness slightly once again. :) Hope that clears it up for you! The Vertex is almost 4X the price of this and good luck getting that money back if you try to sell it. Unless you absolutely have to have an OG Dirty Dozen watch from an original manufacturer then I don't see the point.

@@Nefville I'll never buy a Vertex, not because of the price range, but because even if I like the "Dirty Dozen" story telling, I'm not into that kind of watches. But I'll never buy this homage, nor any homage watch from any famous model. Because there are so many brands which are working hard and good to create watches that I do not see the point to buy homage's watches.

@@user-ke6xt1yl1l I hear that. That's the good thing about this hobby, there's tons of options. I want to like this one but that price is just way more than I would pay for a homage.

All the way. More expensive than the Praesidus, but it's the best DD reissue on the market and from one of the original manufacturers.

I agree with your observations. I'm a bit confused by this brand as a whole. They are basically making overpriced homages. You can get similar homage style watches from Chinese brands like San Martin and Baltany, but because they are Chinese, they are not considered to be in the same tier. The Rec Spec really has me confused since you can still get the original Seiko model for half the price.

Hey there, Oscar Chabrat here - Brand Director for Praesidus Watch Co. Thanks for the feedback - I think there might be a few things that I can clear up regarding your concerns. As a small company, we are not necessarily able to negotiate specific movement configurations within our price & time constraints. That explains the use of a ghost date movement for our DD-45. Concerning the seven & five indexes that are cut; this is a choice of ours. We did spend a couple hours studying the original Dirty Dozen models and, as another comment has pointed out - they usually had the sub-second hand cut through both indexes; this was structurally imposed by the movement and the placement of the sub-second hand. While we could have made sure the sub-second dial wouldn't cut the indexes; that wasn't really the point of this hommage so we decided to go on a similar route as the originals. Would love to know what watches you're referring to that you find better at a lower price though! Cheers, Oscar

I take your point about the movement, and yours is certainly not unique to be constrained to one with a ghost date. Fair enough. Regarding the clipping, of course we have all seen dials from the 1940/50s with similar dial architecture and often much more clipping of numerals. It seemed to me that the 5 was fine, and for me personally it was a shame that the 7 didn’t escape. But as you say, you can view this historically. Price point varies enormously for time-only watches, and the fact that San Martin (just to take one example) would be able to issue a similarly specced and finished watch for €300 does not mean that you should be expected to. People will vote with their eyes, ears and wallets, however.

The "5" numeral does look to be truncated but it's not as noticeable because it's on the back slope of the number. I think slightly larger and bolder numbers would have meant more clipping but also works aesthetically.
