Just started getting into reading the BNHA manga. One thing I've noticed is that various BNHA characters fit quite nicely into the character types portrayed in the Indian epic, the Mahabharata - basically, a story about a great war between two sets of cousins, the five Pandava brothers vs. their 100+ Kurava cousins. I took a scene from an English-language wayang (shadow play) performed in San Diego back in 1996 by my good friend, UC Berkeley gamelan instructor Pak Widiyanto S. Putro.
I then matched the characters up (Baladewa, the hotblooded king of Mandura; Pragota, his soft-headed and humorous prime minister; Setyaka, his nephew; and Setyaka's prime minister, Udawa) with fitting BNHA characters:
Katsuki Bakugo: Baladewa
Eijirou Kirishima: Pragota
Izuku Midoriya: Setyaka
Shouto Todoroki: Udawa
(with cameos from Uraraka Ochako and Aizawa-sensei, LOL)
In this scene, Kresna has left his kingdom of Dwarawati temporarily, so he hastily leaves the kingdom in the charge of his son Setyaka. According to rules of succession, though, since Baladewa is Kresna's elder brother, he should be left in charge (which makes Bakugo Deku's uncle in this universe - yikes...), and this situation makes him angry. He quickly goes to Dwarawati to try to assert his position.
I'm NOT an artist, so I know that my drawings suck. (When I do draw, I usually do traditional Javanese or Balinese wayang designs and forms...) I just wanted to get this audio clip onto some other visual medium, and it seems that the BNHA universe was a pretty good fit.
And I just approximated Baladewa's original lines in Javanese - in any case, he's just always angry, just like a certain character...
Intro music: Lcr Tropong Bang pelog nem, performed by Pak Purwadi's ensemble.
[I chose this piece because "Tropong Bang" means 'red helmet' - this piece is one of a handful used to signal the departure of a kingdom's troops, and the name itself is extremely fitting for someone like Kirishima...]
Original context of the audio (performed by Pak Widiyanto S. Putro) here: • Wayang kulit - Pragota...
