Some additional info for the private ambulance system in Prague: There are currently 3 companies operating for Prague EMS with total of 4 units. These are: DavepoMedevac with 2 units from Bulovka and Žižkov, ASČR with 1 unit from Petřín and Pragomedika Plus with 1 unit from Hovorčovice. These units are under Prague's direct control and are usually used for lower priority calls or support in busy areas. This system actually isn't something exactly new as it's been working for a couple of years already. It just became, let's say more official in 2023. Also Prague isn't the only city/region in Czechia that uses private contractors this way. Most notably Středočeský kraj which is working with ASČR with total of 5 RZP(big ambulance) units and 3 RV(small doctor car) units in Zbraslav, Mníšek pod Brdy, Davle, Kralupy nad Vltavou and Slaný, DavepoMedevac with 1 unit in Jesenice u Rakovníka and Trans Hospital with 1 unit in Řevnice. Trans Hospital also works for Jihočeský kraj with 1 unit in Frymburk.

Thank you for the additional information about Prague! I remember the map on ZZS SCK's website that displayed the private EMS providers back when ASCR and TransHospital were the only private EMS companies under state contract. Interesting to see Davepo stepping up their game! I have contacts to Davepo Medevac which I hope I'll be able to visit this summer. I also want to visit TransHospital but unfortunately I have 0 contact to them.

Great one! I think it's a bit confusing at night to see red and blue, I would instantly think it's a police van, haha.

I know the fealing - Where I am from our local Police Vehcile's are Blue & White Light's w/ 2 Red LED's in the back brake Light's, our Sheriff Vehicle's are both Red & Blue Light's now & our State Police Vehicle's are Blue/White Light's in the front & Blue/Red Light's in the back, plus all of our Fire Vehicle's are Red, White & Amber Light's, however, we did get a new Fire Engine last year & a couple of new Ambulance's a few months ago & both have a single Blue Light in the back on the top left of the vehicles.

I understand considering that in Romania, only Police uses red-blue while EMS is blue only and fire departments red only - so you'd definitely associate certain light colors with certain agencies 😄

Great catch! Is "ambulance" written in English or is the Czech word similar to the English one?
@Rummeltobi
@Rummeltobi Год назад
Thank you! The Czech word for ambulance would be "sanitka" or Rychla Zdravotnicka Pomoc (RZP). I think they put "Ambulance" on these units because it's a universal term that people from everywhere understand.
@phosemonde4787
@phosemonde4787 Год назад
@@Rummeltobi Okay, that would be a logical explanation. However, I think that people could understand the purpose of the vehicle with the sort of blue cross (I do not know how it is called in English) that all medical emergency services use in Europe.
@Rummeltobi
@Rummeltobi Год назад
@@phosemonde4787 You're not wrong with that. The star of life is a universal symbol but unfortunately, not every country is using it. For example in Germany an association of private ambulance providers owns the legal rights to use that symbol and forbids other EMS agencies to use the star of life.
@phosemonde4787
@phosemonde4787 Год назад
@@Rummeltobi Oh, I did not know that about Germany, interesting, thank you for the information. Maybe we should, at least for EU member states, develop a regional symbol (or the WHO at the world scale, I do not know).
