True! It's no secret that alot of what we have in gospel music is thankd to Detroit. It's been said that "there's something in the water" over there with all those singers Detroit has, lol!
Exactly sexyblack103!! This was started and perfected in NYC...FACT not FICTION!! Tye picked this up early and ran with it all over the us, so this is why peeps think he's the creator of all this...he's from next door in NJ, he used to come to NY alot at one point, his musicians are great and can pick up stuff so there u go!
Yes this sound was originated in NYC (though we'll never get the credit 4 it!) But, as far as who started it, I remember initially hearing it James Hall and the voices of Citadel. The song "No Joy No Strength" is a song from the late 90's actaully. But Hezekiah Walker's "Lift Him Up" is much older too. Both songs officially came out way later that originally done, as a result it could be a toss up. But, I'll say Hall started it!
OH MY LORD! ! ! LOOK AT TERRY'S (Thaddeus) DREADS! ! ! This is when we was really nuts and couldn't keep still when he played. . . LOL LUV YOU THASHUS! ! !
