This song has been an anthem in the black church since I was a kid 50 years ago. Unfortunately, the theology is horrible. Jesus is not a genie in the lantern who grant wishes. You don't tell Jesus what you want. You bow down and worship Him, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Rubbish! The Bible specically commands us to bring all our needs to HIM in Prayer Petitions, Supplications and intercesions. If you enjoy living a defeated life do that by yourself don't spread it!!

What's wrong with what she's doing ? She 's making a joyful noise, doing the happy dance, she can't help if things naturally shake. Where in the bible does it say you can't laugh and have fun? Why can' t you have fun in church and also worship the lord? Maybe you may keep some of the younger generation coming to church. I think some people are being overly judgemental .Give her a break I believe my God would.

Practice at least twice a week. Choir rehearsal can make a difference. Everybody is in sinc when it come to singing. Its importance when you want members to participate in praised and worship.🤗God bless.

She's indicating tempo and dynamic, same as an orchestra conductor has to do. I'm not a religious believer of any sort, but that song kicks. Who could sing a song as soulful as that without moving around?
This better be a parody or just playing in rehersal because if you are doing this foolishness you are mocking the holy altar that place is sacred your heart and mind needs to be pure so that you can be up there.

It seems like it is a joke. At the end she says, "At my church I can't do this. I don't know the problem is, I think I got a pretty good voice..." This obviously isn't the whole clip. Someone would have politely sat her down if it was serious.
I love the humor and the humanity in this video. I don't see anyone making fun of any deity, or of the church. I just see her poking fun at the foibles of the human leaders -- in every organization there's someone who feels they need to control the rest. And there's no organization that begs for parody quite as much as a church choir. So many agenda, not all in synch with one other. ... I believe that all these people in the video are heart-and-soul Christians who sincerely love their deity and their church, but who also see the need for a bit of joy -- otherwise, we can get to taking ourselves too seriously, even confusing ourselves with sacred beings and institutions. I also love the way that Mother Abyssinia fully inhabits her beautiful body; it tells every other substantial grandma "Your God loves you just the way you are." Amen, Mother!

We have been set free. I was happy for these people singing and enjoying their salvation. I saw nothing going wrong. Worshipers have got to get out of their pews and start rejoicing in the Lord. Have we forgotten how to rejoice in the Lord and in our salvation.
I think your right, the think it’s an act/ play of some kind, if you listen to end it sort of confirms it’s an act. I love church and I love laughter plus clowning around but I don’t think the two mix in church. We have really moved away from the Essenes of Christ’s teaching. We should be a light to the world. Sometimes I think we’re all caught up in emotions and what we think is right, all these shouting/ whooping preachers, praise breaks, rally’s ect, praise and worship ect people fighting to be in the pulpit. No, go back to the word, be in constant prayer, if you’re in the pulpit preach a message of repentance, call people from out of their sins unto the way of holiness, ask God for the fruit of the spirit. Guard your heart and mind. Live in peace with all men.. Do Bible, but live it also and we can’t go wrong. He’s coming again, we’ve got to meet Him in white, we’ve got to meet him pure.
Okay so for all the people that are upset, feeling that this was a disrespectful way to behave in church . . . get over yourselves. A lot of people are saying that this was disrespectful and God would not approve. First of all no human being speaks for God. It is not our place to attempt to speak for God. Worship the way that you feel is right and let others worship in the way that they feel brings them closer to God. Because that's what it's all about. Humans have gotten so wrapped up in idols and traditions that their faith becomes more about adhering to traditions and worshiping structures than practicing the true faith. It's not about buildings or any one person's pious sensitivities. There is no one right way to worship and none of us is God so none of us can decide what is ultimately appropriate or inappropriate. The best you can do is say I hope God approves of the way in which I've tried to live my life and the way in which I've attempted to show reverence. I think some of yall gonna be real butt hurt come your judgment day and your standing in line in front of this woman and God tells you to step aside and tells her to hit it one more time and God takes her hands and dances with her. Then you gonna say wa. . ho. . . wait a minute, you're not upset? Isn't this disrespectful? And just then God gonna stop dancing look at you, morph into Gary Coleman and what you talking bout Willis?
I been there, did that. No more! Churches ran like this was the "RU-vid" of the day this lady's generation because that was the only time they could get multiple people paying attention to them at one time. Then towards the end of service when the Pastor would ask for parting thoughts from any visiting minister, they would damn near preach mini-sermons before we finally adjourned. THEEEEN you had night service about 3-4 hours later knowing it was a school night!!!
This is why people don't take none of y'all serious, because you take the altar to mess around and don't show any respect nor reverence to the house of the Lord. That is why God's will bring judgment on the church for being apostate and for being fools. I just can't right now... Shame on these fools.

You've put your faith in idols and structures and you forget the true purpose of the teachings. Buildings are man made garbage (yes even churches). Don't get confused. The physical buildings that man has built to "channel" God are man's attempt to control God and God's word instead of being truly submissive.

People have turned "Worshiping God" into a disgusting form of personal entertainment. Those in the audience are probably more focused on and praising these ladies, than they are of praising God. This lady is Dancing and shaking her butt, and people are laughing and encouraging it. How does that give God praise?
