I don’t get why cops don’t understand how trespassing laws works. They have to ask you to leave first. (That’s why it’s important to film. Next time they say “they told us they already told you. Ask them “well do they have that on film like I have them not asking on film!”). If you refuse to leave in a reasonable amount of time- then you have committed a crime. If you return after being asked to not come back-then you have committed a crime.

It's very typical that LEO's do this nowadays, since 1. people are not taught their civil rights any more, and 2. Because they don't know their rights, this bully practice has gotten out of control and has turned in to the 'we frisk everybody we talk to" policy in many departments. READ Terry vs Ohio please. To legally justify doing a pat down, which is a "Superficial pat down of the OUTER layer of clothing", the officer must have articulable FACTS that would lead a mythical "reasonable officer" to believe the subject was armed and posed a threat to their safety. Looking at the entire situation recorded here, where are the facts making someone think Kendrick is armed? Being a young black man isn't enough! It's a trespassing request call, right? And going beyond the illegal pat-down, it gets worse in a legal sense when the cop lifts Kendrick's shirt. Even if the pat-down was legal, when the cop feels the microphone battery pack, which is clearly NOT shaped like a weapon, (hear the cop say 'what is this"?) he LIFTS Kendrick's shirt, which is legally a 4th amendment violation. You have the God-given right to be secure in your person, papers, and belongings. If people don't learn their rights, in another generation or two, we won't have them anymore.
