Larry, this is a powerfully exquisite piece. I love the descending prayer motif that keeps passing amongst all of the instruments, sort of like using prayer beads (Rosaries, Malas, etc.). The instrumentation works so well in this piece. This wind/string selection just works! I can't wait to hear this performed by real instruments!
Of course I've studied counterpoint...it was a wonderful aspect of achieving my Masters degree in composition and theory from the Peabody Conservatory... as well as my tenure as faculty there.
