I never cry with movies, but at the end when the mom is at the Gay Pride and she imagines that Bobby is there in the crowd and runs and hugs a random boy..I cried my eyes out, thinking of my own mother doing the same/ cause I came out at 17 and she never accepted it. When I was 18 I went to a Gay pride on my own .

HEY Sweeties I love you all I too feel the stings of Life...I think I was lead by God to say this I am open minded when it comes to my sexuality. But Just the hate churches bring when they talk about peoples sexual identities is really heart renching. I felt bad enough having a dad that said Son I love you but you are going to hell I literally felt rejected boxed in and felt like I was going to hell by the creator of my life God. I had went to church and praised the Lord I was in a worship band with my dad and my brother which is a fighter he had kidney failure (God Bless his soul) and he is still happy. Well one day in church my pastor was talking about Politics and had said Sorry guys But I have to bring this up God is speaking through me and said you know Barak Obama is a Homosexual Faggot lover with my dad looking at me as if he agreed with the pastor. I had heard a Voice in my head It was Suttle but yet it echoed like thunder saying Michael Go out and take a breather so In the middle of his preaching I had walked out side with tears and sat down to have a heart to heart with God. Well things gotten a little worse after my dad had brang up that I was Gay but put it in a sense of Saying my son's friend is gay. I think the pastor knew it was me he was referring to. Months later I had the pastor said If I was gay and if I was gonna marry and man one day I said maybe and then he said I don't want you in my church anymore And he insisted threatening me I have quoted Let all who have breath praise the Lord in psalms and he just ignored it I said Jesus said Come just as you are and he ignored it. He then tried to make me go on my knees and pray away the gay I cried kneeling down And tried to do it but did not work if I had a pill To take away my sexually open mind I would have a long time ago I think God made me like this To see first hand what People are doing to my Kind the gays being murdered, Beaten, Sent to Christians Camps to Get Treated to Be straight, and Mentally scarred. Back to the story...At that time I was working for the pastor too. One day I was listening to Christian music while typing his book and read a part in it the book he did quoted if you Ask God to reveal himself whole heartedly to you he will there's is also a part in the bible where it said If you ask God to reveal himself to you and whole heartedly meant it he will make his presence known. Then It hit me so right after I stopped what I did and went on to knees crying and asked God to reveal himself He did. Behold I saw nothing but white There was no shadows A Lions paw stepped out of it and a beautiful white Lion with deep beautiful blue eyes had came out I said God is that you? He said I am What I am my love I knew he has chosen a form Best suited to me cause I really like Lions and thought about the Lion of Judah. So I asked him a question and said God am I broken ? with tears running down my cheeks His lips was not moving but he was telepathically speaking to me He said these sweet words Son You are Not broken You have never been broken You have a heart of Gold And I will use it one day. After he had revealed himself to me that day I had miracles happen to me 5 minutes later I had asked God if I was on the straight and narrow and He said if I needed proof. I said that would be nice He said very well After that I heard my pastor calling me Saying Michael I have extra pay I was like no way. I came out to greet him and he gave me the cash But with the heart I had I have gave some back to him sometimes me and my brother would just work for free. But I was blown away thought it was prolly a coincidence Later that day I had To go out shopping I went to Ross and well it didn't hit me till later that time I heard once again a voice in my head with that same echoing thundering voice saying Son you need a belt and I just happened to be in the belt section. I said that's wierd no one was around me and I swore it sounded like someone was. I then proceeded to the belts and out of Hundreds of belts I could have chosen one was out on top of the rest I said no freaking way This belt was special It had the words Only God Can Judge Me written on it I knew it was from The words of Tupac but still I WAS LEAD TO IT Yes I know Tupac was a murderer but You never know he might have been saved by Christ. I had melted in to tears I told my brother and he was amazed I had told the cashier if you ever had carried this belt and he said Never did I was just soo happy it was was a sign. One month exactly later I had went out side of the church and took a breather and well I happened to look up at the sky I saw a cloud shaped like a lion a lion I was amazed but suddenly it had transformed by the wind in to a sitting Lion with wings. I then asked God what's that sitting lion about? and yet again a sweet but small voice with an echoing thundering voice said why that's you waiting patiently to meet me. Just at the moment I had uncontrollable joy I had fell on my knees and praised him. This is my testimony I been studying the Bible more and more and I came to know He does not Hate gays Jesus himself declared come just as you are Which he did not add Except Gays I think he welcomed them. There's a favorite passage in psalm I like saying Let all who have breath praise the Lord Praise The lord...yet again no mention of Except gays in it. So I choose to follow Jesus Yahushua and god Yahuwah till he takes me home. I think when homosexuals was mentioned in the bible It meant the bad parts of Homoerotic wickednes Like Rape, Orgies Prostituing thier selves to false God and all that. You find it in when Paul went to Rome where Gay was the norm he saw it yet again the bad stuff like Rape men protsitution Sexual voilence and when he spoke women left natural orders he saw it when they Lusted after another and had partooken in Orgies prostituion and Idol worship with sex and all. Sodom and gamora burned down Cause of the people of the cities on these crime against God. Rape, Lust, Idolatry, worshipping other gods shrine Prostitution and they were over Fed did not care for the needy They stole they commited adultery, Peadophilia, Beastiality. No mention of gays in it. So I think when Jesus spoke about a man shall cleave on to his women and become one flesh I think he was referring to creating a baby. Cleave is Sex in my opinion and become one flesh Is the baby They cleave[sex] and became one flesh [Baby] I am the one flesh That my parents made. That is what I think. But like I said I am following christ not no mere men that tell me to change who I am. I'm gonna follow the ten commandments and love Everyone even the ones that oppose me And or don't like me. I love my Yahushua No matter who says I'm wrong about everything it's my opinions. I'm sure The writers of the books in the bible had THIER OWN Opinions and thought of what they thought was right too doesn't mean it was of god. That's where it stops me If it was inspired by God why would he have put A women who was raped shall be married to her rapist. I think that was the writers Opinion and not of God. As a painter would paint scenes around him one would paint those scenes. As a poet See's Life and death around him one would write it down. I am inspired to follow Jesus and trust him he has my tomorrow and he is my savior. God Yahweh and Yahshua is my love and I shall love all and respect all. Sorry for the long rambling but love you all and love you too. God bless all of you and bless the ones that oppose of the message I'm using the heart I have to help the needy, the poor, The defenseless, The Hungry I will try to help anyone I can and I love playing piano for my God mostly every night tooI do a little praise and Worship and pray for others May God bless all of you Btw My dad I love him he came in to my room one day And the best thing he told me was son I don't say this often But you are A blessing to me. He's beginning to love me for who I am and looks past it. It still Annoys him and wishes I would be straight

I'm crying while watching trailer. It's so heartbroken. Why someone have to die if he/she is homosexual? I don't know what kind of society we are living in?

This was one of the first lgbt movies I watched when I was questioning my sexuality at about age 12, I never actually finished watching it because at one point I was just crying too hard. I’m 23 now and I still never finished it. I want to, though, someday

How can you possibly think that a statement like "kill them" is in any way alright? Those who believe in religion are fine, those who kill others over it, or harm others in any way are the ones who are the farthest lost to religion. They are the ones who need to be "brought back"

Life on this planet is at stake. People with imaginary sky friends do not live up to the sapiens part of our species designation, anyways. Religionists, especially those in abrahamic religions, are by definition antihumans. Abrahamic religion is a totalitarian, authoritarian, ingroup-oriented, chauvinistic, racist, xenophobic, misogynistic, homophobic, environment-phobic, animal-phobic ideology, based on an invented deity of seemingly unlimited immorality. It is entirely rooted in hate against "the other" and seeks to enforce its views through physical and psychological violence. Abrahamic religion truly is a proper subset of fascism, and modern forms of fascism are usually derived from it. The worldview developed in Tanach and further propagated in the New Testament and Quran is against everything that makes societies livable, such as freedom, community, democracy. Abrahamic religion is a plainly evil ideology, as it keeps people in mental slavery under an imaginary tyrant. Holding on to it despite being able to mature out of it in this internet-driven information age, is a sign of either intellectual or moral bankruptcy.

Okay, I'm only 13, so here is my thoughts. Not all are mine, though. Martin Luther King JR. Once said, in his I have a dream speech, that,"When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the "unalienable Rights" of "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note." This excerpt also could fall into the homosexuality hate situation. It was originally hosted in a racial argument, but could very well be used here. Believe me, when I say that our society isn't as great and trouble free as our Constitution writers pictured it to be. Our society is built up of different types of people, who struggle to live as one. But when a law passes saying that one type of people is exempt from doing what another type of people could do, it makes the struggle harder. Making Homosexual rights shouldn't have to come about. When did we become so different? As In this movie, when Mary states that God made Bobby gay, he was made, and was made to be not discriminated for his difference, but to be just another one of us. But as she also stated he was killed directly killed by his parent's ignorance, she couldn't be blamed. We are growing up in a world where things are not to be questioned, and blindly followed. I absolutely loved when the minister says that Blind Faith is more dangerous than no faith at all. It reminds me of another quote by Martin Luther King JR. It said that," The most dangerous things in this world are stupidity and Ignorance." ((I think. My teacher put up that quote one day, can't fully remember it.)) I also loved the quote by Mary Griffith. "Before you echo Amen in your home or place of worship, think and remember, and child is listening." I love this movie, and it was one of my top 10's, closing in at number 2. Number one's the Lovely Bones! Thank you for your time. Tell me if you have any rebuttals. Hopefully, I have enough evidence to conclude this. ~Spiderwhick•2014~

The constitution was actually made for white men. MLK knew that better than anyone. But bc the constitution didn't directly say, "White Men Only", he was able to use it for his advantage. Else, he would had spoken about how the creators of the constitution and african americans possessed the same God, and that in that God's eyes, they were all equal. Now, God didn't made Bobby gay. God doesn't create sin. We do.

I cried from the middle of the movie until the end. I actually went into a depression after it and had to take anti depression pills for years. Haha.. sounds horrible! But I had a lot of experiences like Bobby and it all came out. Loved/ love the movie!

I do not believe in god, but this movie is something people should watch. It is very important for strict parents or parents who are any religion that think this is wrong. The only thing that is wrong is being ignorant and not accepting people for who they are and who they where born to be.

InDream reality you are so right some of my best friends in high school were gay or bi or les, I didn't care, even though my religion is trying to cram it down my throat that it is wrong, I refused to, and still do, judge someone on whom they love. I've been openly gay for 15 years. Every person who stays in the closet makes it that much harder for those of us with the balls to be out. If people knew how many people are actually gay they would be overwhelmed and public sentiment would shift overnight.

I don't like to say this, but two bad people, thet can't accept their son, that want him to change, made an amazing person... Stay strong. Speak With your friends, with someone who you belive. Talking always helps. And one day, just tell to them, that you are going away. superstubes I'm a devout Christian. I have three gay cousins who I love to death and close too. I will always say it's still a sin and never disown them basically like this mother did. I believe the world will be a better place when we all understand we're never gonna agree on everything but that doesn't mean we hate each other. I have atheist friends who don't agree with my faith but are always kind.

It's so heartbreaking that it took a tragedy like losing her son to open her eyes to the world. Prayers for Bobby is one of the most incredible and life-changing films I've ever seen. Heart goes out to the family that lost Mary last year, and Bobby almost 40 years ago. This story is an important one. I hope people see this, and accept their gay children. No one should be put through this

I know that’s why I have such a hard time getting through this moving, after the suicide part I stopped watching because I was so infuriated that had to happen, it could’ve been prevented if she could’ve opened her eyes sooner, this is what hate and intolerance does to lgbt people, I’ll try to finish watching it sometime, but it makes me so mad that it had to come the that, it didn’t have to

@@joshlmccall6294 I cried watching "John Q" and "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo". This... no tears. You only think people that don't feel anything for this kind of weakness are terrible but the difference is the kid fought and the father a totally different system in John Q. In "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" the Young lady fought agaibst insurmountable odds and still found nothing worth fighting for... In this story Bobby just quits. Ok that was his choice, I feel nothing for him by extention I don't know why his mother cared. If my kid quits (regardless the reason) I'm sure I'd be a bit more broken up, but it was ultimately their call to give up. Time to move on. The problem I'm seeing is that Bobby quitting is taken as a collective loss, of what? A life he didn't even care enough to fight for? Bro who cares. You think everyone's parents think their kids are inherently valuable? That's really nice and to an extent largely true, but there's usually a tipping point. If your kid was an axe murderer who is anti-gay would you still love them unconditionally try to save them after the fact? I'm somehow thinking that's a bridge too far. Course you can do the smart thing and lie or do the even smarter thing and not reply at all, but I'm already expecting both those outcomes so...

I'm Catholic but I do not see anything wrong with being gay. I feel like some religious people use their religion as an excuse for being homophobic, which is really awful. Hopefully this movie and others like it will help sway homophobic people's thinking on this subject.

I don't want help to sway homophobic thoughts away from me. I am like Bobby. My parents hate me because I'm gay and they're Christians. I do not know where to go. This movie is truly inspiring and beautiful. I cried the whole movie because I know that my parents would never be able to come to terms with my sexuality. I am hopeless. But this movie lift my spirit and hope up. I wish one day I can live in a place where I can truly love the person I love.

If you’re still able to read this, and if you still have contact with your parents, I think you should find a way to talk your parents into watching this movie. I also want you to know that I am a Christian, too, but I don’t feel the same way your parents do. I realize there are lots of people out there who don’t approve of homosexuals, but there are still several people out there who do. That includes me; I don’t feel that way at all. It doesn’t matter if you’re gay or lesbian as long as you still are capable of kindness, love, and you never lose your faith in God. Even if homosexuality truly is a sin, that doesn’t mean it’s an unforgivable one. God says the only type of unforgivable sin there is is blasphemy. As long as you keep your faith in Him, trust in Him, and pray to Him when you need His help, guidance, or acceptance, He will love you just the way you are and He will accept you into Heaven. Bible verse John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world that he gave his One and Only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” He doesn’t define you solely on your homosexuality; He defines you by your heart and your willingness to trust in Him and honor Him. One more thing you should know is that even if your earthly parents don’t love you because you’re different, God is your Heavenly Father and He loves you just the way you are. He knows the problems you face and, although He doesn’t promise to make them go away, He promises to help you get through them and to be with you every step of the way, as long as you let Him.

This is a lesson to everyone who wants to be a parent, that if you're not emotionally prepared for that you better not having a kid at all. Creating people you are creating new ideas that you might not actually agree with. So you must be prepared to accept that fact and find a way to coexist in harmony otherwise don't even bother, there are plenty of ways for contraception. You know, when a mother can't get along with her son then how do you expect that complete strangers may be capable to reconciliate and stop wars or silly "small" senseless murders. The ability to get along, to reach a consensus, to respect different opinions is something taught in the family.

I heard that she passed away recently. I think the beautiful part is that even though their physical beings are no longer here and their ending wasn't the best that Bobby really was smiling down on her and they are now in Heaven together forever. This movie has such a great message that shows how important a parents love and acceptance are to a child. How can a parent expect a person to be happy and hopeful if the ones supposed to care the most completely reject them? I know there are people that say they'd never forgive her but just remember how many people she helped after her son passed, in the perfect memorial of Bobby's life.

Well, I have just the same life as him.. I live in a homophobic country and there is nothing I can do.. I didn't tell anyone tho, and it is not a big deal to go and kill myself but it is sometimes hard.. U look at all the guys passing by, u think of them and you in many ways.. But u are desperate as u know they don't feel the same way.. I think I am not the only one 😒😒😒

The whole point of the film is about Mary’s journey to understanding that she was wrong, and the revelation she has about God and her son. If you pick up the book it’s very clear what it’s about from the blurb. Try watching it, then see if you feel the same way.
