Yooo, I'm glad you got your hands on this to try out since we had briefly talked about it a little while ago. I bought the Jayflex straight bar and kb handle (it was a better deal than just buying the kb handle alone). They work pretty well. I like using the kb with my Core adjustable dumbbells. I haven't used the straight bar yet though. Good review LGG!
Like most gym items they have their place. I agree good for travel since it can be taken apart. On the other hand safety first. If the bar can come apart by simply pressing and holding a piece of it (pin) how safe do you feel even if lifting half its weight capacity? I would pass on this because what if the pin did loosen? Im not willing to take that risk. Either travel with a band and bar designed just for banded weights or bring an adjustable kettlebell and weight plates or a pair of adjustable dumbbells and weight plates. Spin lock standard bars and plates are perfect for this just pack a rolling suitcase as the hotel gym.
for sure bro! Never would prob see anyone who uses past 25s on each side with this, mostly women or younger people trying to get fit at home or on the road to get them going!
This is an interesting option. I think if I was a beginner, money would go further with 1” loadable dumbbells, a standard 1” barbell, and standard plates than adjustable dumbbells and this bar.
I agree!!! You can never go wrong with that set up to start! That’s what we had in the high school days at my buddies. 1 inch plates and a golds gym rack!
I really considered Jayflex or the PRCTZ bar for my apartment home gym for a while. My wife really likes the idea so we might still get one for her since she hates handling weight plates, 😂. I ended up buying a 5ft barbell with 500lb capacity from Lionscool and am super happy with it. They even have a 4ft barbell for super tight spaces. I can deadlift, row and bench with my 5ft barbell perfectly. It suits my needs in an apartment for now but I've only got 45s, 10s, 5s, and 2.5lb plates, so soon I'll buy more to complete my 245lb set. I just store it all under my bed and take it out as needed. But my wife is still very interested in these bars for her training. She's confident she'll never exceed 200lbs, even though I believe otherwise. So it might be an affordable birthday present and a fun travel exercise device with resistance bands. Its great that there are options like this for so many.
