I have been working out consistently for a year with 3 sets of dumbells and a bench. I have a small house and I don't have time to go to a gym. I've gotten significant results, but having anything compact helps. Getting this would further help me get in power cleans more efficiently. Get more squats in without grip fatigue like you would with dumbells. For someone like me, this is where products like this are perfect!
Now you don't need to buy a whole set of kettlebells and barbells. Like wtf is a set of barbells? You just buy a bar and plates. And who uses kettlebells anyways? And you also need a whole set of dumbells in order to use this thing so it's only really useful for someone who already owns the dumbells and also wants a barbell setup but only for lighter barbell work.
@Michael D what's a set of barbells? Look it up. It's dumbbells with a long ass bar. Also, if you have adjustable dumbbells, like I do, and not much room for anything else, this is perfect.
I bought this EZ Curl and EZ Kettle myself. I have a small extra room for a gym I made with a treadmill, bowflex motivator 2, a dumbbell tower (15-40lbs) and 6x8 ft mat area. The goal was to make the room easy to move around and work out and not be cramped, have to move things, or bump into things. Simply put, just no room for traditional stack weights or standard kettle bells. So the EZ curl bar and EZ Kettle made a good space saver with the dumb bell weights I already have. So far great for light to moderate workouts. If I had more room, sure would have a traditional bench with full bar and stacks of weight plates and dumb bells too, but we do with what we have and this is a good choice for a small gym.
That'd actually be an interesting choice IF they made a high-end version all steel. The plastic would suck and probably won't last if you actually used it consistently. Your floormats and dumbells protected it; concrete and cheap cast dumbells would end them quickly.
Nice video, very thorough. I am one of those with the simple home gym and thought this would be a good addition. Good point about the flimsy locking rings. It would be useless if you break it and they don’t sell the replacement heads. Though I don’t plan on dropping my weights. This product does look gimmicky but so did the Bowflex dumbbells. I still have and enjoy my bowflex dumbbells very much.
I picked up the EZ curl bar to use with the 552's and an adjustable bench. It doesn't replace a trip to the gym, but it's a good setup for a quick workout in a home with limited space like mine. Like Coop, the feedback I gave them was that I'm not a fan of the rubberized grip and would have preferred knurling on the bar. Because I'm using it with adjustable weights, I don't have to undo the collars on the bar to change the weight.
Saw the combo on Prime Day. Searched YT and Coop’s video came up first. Didn’t pull the trigger on it because of this review. Opted to get the kettlebell adapter solo. Thanks Coop. You’re the man
Thats the only product that makes any sense. The multi angle kettlebell handle for dumbbells for 50 bucks is a solid idea. Otherwise the bars are silly
Too bad it's such poor quality. Are you going to trust that flimsy plastic collar to keep your dumbbell from getting flung across the room or onto your foot? I wouldn't.
Awesome review that convinced me to order one. I have a small home gym built out in the corner of the attic/storage room and it's pretty bare bones. I've been looking at buying a heavier duty bench with a rack and a bar/weights, but the cost of fitness gear is through the roof right now and economically it's easier to pick up one of these bars and be able to use my dumbbells with it. Heavier lifts I can go to the gym, this will work great in a pinch for a 30-40 min session after work when I can't get out of the house. Also an update, you can get all 3 now bundled for like $300 + the 15% off code.
I have the Kettle Gryps and the Hyperbell kettlebells. I like the Hyperbells because of the ability to rotate the axis of the dumbbells. As Coop said, it makes swings much easier. BUT, they’re a pain to swap weights and orientation, especially if your dumbbells have somewhat thick handles. It can be a bit of a challenge to keep things aligned, hold the clamp closed around the dumbbell handle, and then tighten the ring. The Kettle Gryps are extremely easy to change weights with, but you can’t change the axis of the dumbbells, and the maximum recommended weight is less than the Hyperbells. Overall, if I had to choose one, I’d probably go with the Hyperbells.
For people with bowflex selectech dumbbells, this bar works with the 552’s but not the 1099’s. The ends of the handles widen, making it too tight to fit
@@WoodakaDiddy yes. I have all 3. I’m considering filing the ends of the handles. Even if it works I wouldn’t be able to lift a 180 pound barbel off the floor. I’d then need a squat rack. I discovered that my workouts are limited no matter what without a full gym.
Depends on how old the 1090s are. The website states older version (before 2010 I think) will work but after that the handles are too thick for jayflex.
Not to mention he initially said it cracked but then said it was OK. And that was with light weight. What's it going to do when you're mimicking tire lifts will full weight?
Got the ez-curl bar for 100-USD, shipped. Decent bit of kit that allows for an expanded arm workout if dumbells, and limited space, are what you're working with.
Just not sold on this one, great review as usual, but this smells like an upgraded shake weight. How soon after you buy it until it never gets used again?
they're great if you own and use dumbbells especially bowflex adjustable. skullbasher, tricep extension, row, hip thrusts, front raises, farmer walks, lunges, etc. some exercises like curls aren't best because the weight rotates but if it's a fixed movement up and down they are great
Coop you really did put this products best foot forward. That being said, these companies have gone crazy with these prices. No amount of b roll will make those worth that much. The kettlebell grip maybe, but cmon fitness companies!
I wonder if the thread and pipe size have a plumbing equivalent. They look like slip joint nuts, which you can buy in Chrome, brass, stainless steel and replace the current with. But that piece might be designed to be flexible/breakable link in the first place (cheap and easy to replace).
It says it can carry up to 100 pounds per side. I had my 85 pounders in it and it popped the red collar. They sent me a replacement. I say max 60 lbs should be what you use.
Fair review of the Hyperbell. But I think in their commercial when they say "rack", they mean rack it up against your body (think the starting position of an OH Press), not put it in a barbell rack. A bit of a cheat, but that's one of the cornerstones of infomercials!
I know… I wanted the kettle bell and ez bar combo but noooo lol😩 got the straight bar combo - can’t wait to try it out! This and monkey feet are great little inventions - btw I saw another review on this and the guy used the core adjustable DB which is what I have, and they fit :)
Well hopefully someone will see this and not make the same mistake I did. These do not fit the Nordic Track Adjustable Dumbells. The handles are just a little too narrow.
Coop make a video for the Traveler. I travel for work and live full time in my rv. Is there a set up that is the lightest, most compact, or can be packed away. I have been traveling with a full set 10-60 lbs of dumbbells and when you tow your home all that adds up. I plan to purchase some adjustable dumbbells. But what else it out there.
When the only thing you have for your gym is a $3000 set of dumbbells this is definitely the barbell that you need. come on coop how much did you get paid?
5:45 I bet jayflex put it on one of those old school bench's from the 90s that had the bar rest on 2 pillars an inch from each side of your head, and the was like" Ay yo bill, I got another feature!"
What I see this as best for is someone who travels a lot. Most hotel gyms have DB as the only free weights. Or as a trucker you could take this with you. Definitely would want it able to fit more DBs before I'd consider buying though, and if they lowered the price to $100 for the whole set as a package.
Seems perfect for people with limited space to have a full length bar and weights etc. However that's only if this actually fits your adjustable dumbbells.
Sadly they don't give the dimensions of the straight bar. Closest adjustable racks I've seen online are between 28-32 inch between racking points.. Want to know if they fit. I'm not a huge guy either so I'm fine with shorter bars
These attempt to do for Bowflex what power blocks already do for themselves in terms of a barbell and kettlebell attachment. That being said, since, for the time being, I am using some Bowflex 1090s, the kettlebell attachment has some potential. I'm actually surprised Alibaba hasn't put out a similar kettlebell attachment that can rotate the dumbbell.
Was excited till the part “they don’t fit Nuobell’s”, just ordered a pair and with my tiny apartment this would have been a great setup. Serious lack of insight Jayflex.
I've used these I like them. I wish it was metal though. I stopped using for a while when I got a pet.The movement wiggle worried me for breaking on him
Can you do a review on the titan fitness tricep/bicep machine I have seen some really positive videos and some really negative ones I need the coop score to reveal the truth
I was thinking that first too. But imagine youre just starting out and are training at home and have some adjustable dumbells. Then with this you can at least do some light barbell squats
That's what I was thinking too. The kind of bench you'll find at Walmart from Weider or Cap. Coop's getting lazy not to think about that a little more.
Just ordered a pair for my new Nuobells that are coming in and then I saw under the FAQ they don't work. Do you think the end mechanism could be shaved down to fit? It looks like they almost fit...
What's the verdict? I'm about to order the hyperbell and was planning to do the same thing; the rubber insert is doing the work of holding the dumbbell, the plastic edge shouldn't hurt the integrity of the handle?!
The fact that they showed a guy just doing skull crushers using it on a bench with no "RACK" in sight, while saying "RACK IT" in the ad is enough to prove that they are not good.
can you actually test it with your heaviest dumbbells? curious if you can bench with them since there is a gravity imbalance on the dumbbells as you go donwn
Anyone that buys this probably has a dumbbell set that stops at 50lbs. Not much benefit in doing a 100lb barbell bench press over just doing a dumbbell press with a 50lb in each hand. Same with every other exercise. And as I try to tell everyone: Nearly every kettlebell movement can be done with a dumbbell.
Coop, I feel you have lost your way. I would love to see you purchase and use a Red Giant (car crushing machine) and when you get the urge to review stuff of this, I hesitate to even use the word, “quality” or frankly anything similar like all of the bow flex products, you just hit the switch, throw it in and let us watch it get destroyed.
I think there’s a very good reason all their Instagram posts are basically attractive scantily clad women - cos it’s very cheaply made and they have spent all the money on influencer marketing. No dice.
Hard to take this seriously. Yet, both ironmaster and bowflex make "barbells" that appear almost as silly. Seriously, a "standard" 6' or 7' bar and a pile of cheap plates would be far more versatile. Add a couple pairs of spin lock handles and you are good to go.
Powerblock does too. I guess if you don't want to buy olympic plates it could add variety to your routine, but the amount of people who will find that useful is pretty small. The amount of newbies who will buy it thinking it's a great idea may be pretty high.
ok so just going to say I do have a full set 5-110 of Dumbells I would never even think not to also have a barbell and plates. So who in the bell is saying ok I need 5 grand worth of Dumbells but I don’t want a rack or a barbell I want to only use my Dumbells for everything. Doesn’t even make sense
