How mild? If it stays above 40F all winter then maybe....However most people in more northern climates have poor flowering because the cold winters kill the flower buds. Your plant might regrow with lots of leaves each year, but if the tips of the branches always die back in winter, you're losing most of your flower buds.
@@jasonrekker4328 hydrangeas can take cold temperatures and in the past the winters that were very cold didn’t reduce the flowers on hydrangeas so I don’t think freezing or cold temperatures is at play. the hydrangeas on Cape Cod, which this past winter got brutal temperatures their hydrangeas this year are blooming like crazy
@@TinthiaClemant have they ever bloomed well for you? Another thing people do is cut them back after next years flower buds have set, so then you just get lots of leaves and no flowers. Normally you would want to avoid trimming these kinds of hydrangeas after mid July until after they have bloomed next year. Any cutting back in mid to late summer, winter, or spring to “clean them up” will be cutting off flower buds
