Yes, it is impressive, and gets even better in areas with cooler night temperatures. Places like New England, Upstate New York, PA, Western MD, OH and Northern NJ all report even better color, so if you live in any of these areas, get ready for an exciting display. Thanks. Since your state is outside of our (Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern States) shipping region, we can't guide you much, except to say check at some of the best garden centers in your area, because we understand that some other nurseries maybe supplying them. Also keep checking in, because as it becomes better known, more and more places are going to be stocking it and it is only a matter of time until the more progressive garden centers have it. Congratulations and well done. You are in for a treat as the years unfold and your plant become more and more impressive. Just be aware that it sometimes takes a year or so, for the plants to settle into their new home and become established. Absolutely, and if you are in the cooler, summer temperatures of zone 5, she should be EVEN BETTER for you. These pictures (and the video), were mostly taken in "steamy" Southern New Jersey, and on the day that David was filming this piece, the light was fluctuating between sunny and cloudy, so that's why in some segments the color is better, and in some shots more muted. With your cooler nights, we expect your pink and red shades will be richer and deeper, so lets see what you think, when you get her! We think you are in for a treat, and one that you'll be pleased to show off to all your family and gardening friends 😉😂👍👏

@OverdevestNurseries
@OverdevestNurseries 3 месяца назад
Yes, there's a lot that are flopping over. That's the benefit of doing the trials. Growing them all side by side, in the same conditions, really shows well how they all compare with each other. One thing to bear in mind also, is that these plants have all been in these planting positions for at least two seasons and were well-established before we made our evaluations. Young, lush, recently planted specimens will often look quite different to ones that are maturing and have a well formed root system. Its not unusual to see young, fast growing nursery plants droop a bit with their big heavy heads in the first year or so, but later on (with the right, carefully chosen selections) they will settle down, make thick stems and be much studier than the old forms we all used to grow. We hope this helps. Have you subscribed to our channel? If you haven't, you might like to think about it, because once you are subscribed, each time we post a new video (which we are doing all the time), you will find that they will turn up automatically in your feed. Our nursery is well stocked with lots of beautiful, shapely specimens and since we are likely to be delivering weekly (starting in early spring and going right through to the autumn), it should be relatively easy for them to get some put on a load for you. Because there's a chance they might be able to get them in for you. Progressive plant centers are always interested in knowing about up and coming selections, so if you spot a stunning new plant (like this one) that you would like to try, they will probably welcome your input and request. Idk how “improved” these panicle hydrangeas are. They all have the same appearance starting out white and color when temps start to cool; however,in the Deep South they all turn brown and crisp since our evenings never cool down. Exactly, how many more “improved” white panicles are needed…
@OverdevestNurseries
@OverdevestNurseries 10 месяцев назад
There's certainly a lot (probably too many) "new" panicle hydrangeas and we share your skepticism and confusion. That's why we work so hard at doing our trials, and as you've seen in the video and pictures we grow them all side by side to compare them with each other, so that we are able to know the ones that perform best in our Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern region. We can't speak for your conditions in the deep south, but we know (with a good deal of confidence) that the ones we've recently featured have emerged as really good, reliable performers here in this region. Cooler night temperatures appears to have a strong bearing on getting good pink color, and together with a little light shade to prevent sun scorch and mulching to provide a cool root run and adequate root system moisture, these seem to be factors that are important to bear in mind. And in recent years, we've seen some incredible color with these selections in areas North and Northwest of our nursery location in Southern New Jersey. Since all our work is based on our findings here in this region we cannot guide you much in your area, except to suggest that if you take a look at a technique we use to get our panicle hydrangeas to flower later (when our night temperatures are consistently cooler), it maybe that your night temperatures remain high and therefore this would not work for you but at least it might be worth taking a look? David explains this in his video "Complete Guide To Enjoying Panicle Hydrangeas" : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jLqmDOMPQJs.htmlsi=jqOEhutsKxNBUo_H , and if you tune in at the 11 minute mark, you will hear him explain how we give them a second (later) trim. We hope this helps. Have you subscribed to our channel? @@OverdevestNurseries thanks for the info, I know the industry puts a lot of effort to bring improvements to the market. I will try to again next year to give them a trim later in the season in hopes for the blush instead of the tan/brown. Mother Nature handed much of the US a beating this year. 😓

Depends upon the varieties and where you are located. If they are growing and flowering well, then of course you don't have to do anything but if they are "green" and not producing any flowers, then we suggest you take a little time to view this popular video entitled "Why Isn't My Hydrangea Flowering" : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-V5Ez7_9ztT4.html In this video David explains why this happens and what you can do about it. Thanks for your kind suggestion, it is appreciated👍 On our open, often windy site keeping the microphone higher helps to reduce wind noise but your suggestion bears merit too, so we will pass this on to David and see if we can achieve a happy medium. Thanks again, Have you subscribed to our channel? If you haven't, you might like to think about subscribing, because once you are subscribed, each time we post a new video (which we are doing all the time), it will turn up automatically in your feed. And, as you find our videos helpful, it would be great if you could kindly share the links with your friends and click the "like" button too, because that helps other people find the information as well. Finally, now with the cooler weather of Fall, it brings with it the BEST TIME of PLANTING and since our partnering garden centers: grownbyoverdevest.com/retail-locator/ are in our Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern region be sure to stop in and take a look…. Because that’s where you are likely to discover all sorts of beautiful, tried and true and cutting edge, top performing selections.
