Awesome video, just the items I wanted compared. Thanks for good work :)

Currently, i use a shure impedence transformer. The vocoloco seems to be a worthy upgrade. There should be variety and competition, but maybe we chose to do something not so common and these are already a luxury to have.

Another one to consider: Endeavors MAW XLR pedal by Old Blood Noise. I personally don't like the included effects but at least it has some built in so you carry less. It is a mic pre amp with 3 pedal banks - and you can also add a separate pedal loop out to other pedals.

Fantastic review. Thanks a lot. I use a Behringer Shark as a preamp and route the signal through a Joyo pxl8 which allows me to use at most eight pedals. Then I go for the amp input. Now I´m considering a Voco-Loco instead of the Shark.

Dude. LIVESAVER. I was hoping to find a trumpet comparison of these two - thank you! I’m not as tech savy with this sort of stuff - is there a simple way to have headphones run out of the Vocoloco? I think that’s biggest appeal of the Eventide for me; that there’s built in EQ on the Vocoloco is huuuuuge.

Thanks for the video! I think I’m leaning towards the Voco Loco

Thank you for this very useful comparison! I'm using a compact mixer to feed multiple mics into one effects chain. (I'm a doubler, so I change instruments during performances. Only using one mic at a time.) I've been considering which of these to try and I think it comes down to power for me. I'm using the Walrus Phoenix power supply because it has a spot to plug in the mixer adapter, so it can be on the same power switch as the pedals. It looks like the Eventide could use a 9v lead from the power supply to go on the same switch, whereas the Radial would need a splitter for the power plug (or maybe unplug separately).

Thanks for doing this! I was curious if you had any other comparative observations? Like how loud the bypass/enable buttons are for the effects loop? Do they inject pops into the output? Or also if one or the other was quieter with the effects loop enabled? Thanks for your time.

Nice demo. It would be nice to hear only your playing. I think it would be enough to say in the beginning of each riff which is the radial and which is the eventide. Radial has it pros with the sound, but it does not use the most common 9v. So on a pedalboard you have less options for a power supply. I have tried tried both of them. If you would like to use a stereo delay/reverb you need the eventide. With radial you get noise if you use only fx send. So this was the main thing why I have the eventide. I have di boxes after the effects.

I’m confused. I didn’t think either box had stereo. How do you route stereo reverb -> eventide?
@MultiCBU
@MultiCBU 3 года назад
@@OccupancyZero With eventide you have fx loop, like radial, but you don't have to route it back. eventide --> reverb mono in --> stereo out. With radial there is some grounding issue if you go fx send but not come back.

I'm didgeridoo player and I bought Eventide for didges pedalboard : ) Already had one live gig, and this device was useful, get rid of two pedals Pre and DI instead of one Mixing link. Now i'm experimenting with effect signal chain to get the best overall sound quality in the end.

theres an Audio Technica’s Slick Fly series(vp-01) that does a same function in cheaper price. tho ive never had any demos nor seen anyone with it so hard to say if it worths competing vocoloco or mixing link. before getting these pre/fx loop pedals, ive thought of trying out slick fly myself but then, seemed like it would be hard to re-sell if i dont like it so had to choose vocoloco lol. but for anyone looking for budget gear! theres a Slick Fly VP-01 at half the price of those two pedals mentioned. i think theres few clones of em rarely in used market too at ish of $150-$200 range too

I've got the same conclusion as you! Radial sounds warmer in regular range but it a little difference.bIn higher notes the difference is almost not noticable, at least for me. I'm thinking about buying one of this unit for trumpet but i also record a lot of instruments so additional I/O and fuctions of eventide i think would be better for me BUT on the other side there is this eq in radial which can be handy. I'm curious actually if you will use this units with some actual guitar effects because when it comes to natural sound i think i will not need this EQ but i think it could be quite handy to roll of some trebles or lows to get better input signal for some distortion pedals or in general effects units.

Hi, thank you for the interesting video. I have one question: is it possible to use the effects by plugging the jack of the amplified guitar to the pedals? Or are all the pedals monopolized by the use of the Voco Loco/Eventide? Sorry for my english and thank you

only demoing the preamp? - (a very minor aspect of what both of these pedals are designed to do...)
@nhale_music
@nhale_music 2 года назад
Yeah, you're absolutely correct that these two pieces do a lot more. However, the preamp sound quality was the bit of info I couldn't find when I was considering purchasing one or the other. You can easily find information and read manuals to figure out which pedal's feature set works better for you, but the actual sound of the two devices wasn't easy to find a comparison of. So, hopefully this at least helps you if you were looking into that!
@christopherkennedy873
@christopherkennedy873 2 года назад
Yeah, I mean the reason I'm interested in these pedals, (the WHOLE purpose of these pedals) is to play (or sing) through OTHER fx pedals - these are merely the interfaces that make that possible - I think if you just want a pre, you can get better for cheaper
@nhale_music
@nhale_music 2 года назад
@@christopherkennedy873 yeah I feel ya on that. That’s my purpose too… I actually ended up returning both of them and went with a Line 6 Helix instead. I fly a lot and it just made the most sense to have everything all-in-one!
