Everyone telling Corinna to please be careful about the drawstring, many times during this video she has said you can make this anyway you want, it’s your creation. THIS IS A PATTERN SHE FOLLOWED FROM THE 70’S. If you don’t want to do drawstring figure something else to do, and don’t do buttons because that’s worse than a drawstring. Corrina, thank you for sharing this pattern I can’t wait to make it & try the embroidery for the 1st time also. Love ya girl 😀❤️
When you are embroidering, you can finish one figure (flower) and knot the end of the thread just as you would when doing plain sewing. This prevents the long threads of yarn on the wrong side. Grandma said the back should look as good as the front. I was not able to make mine that way but the less floats, the better.
The lazy daisy embroider stitch is the first stitch I learned. My mother taught me how to embroider and my grandmother taught me how to crochet. My mom didn't use crochet much. Way back when I was 8 years old, if you were a girl, you were expected to learn these things and I'm glad to have had the experience 😊
There is an old photo of me as a baby wearing this exact poncho while sitting in one of those old fashioned prams with the big wheels. Silver cross pram I believe
I would then take a wide ribbon & cover the ends of the embroidery on the inside. Just to finish & keep little fingers from playing with the knots & threads. But that's just me. Its a very cute pattern. Good job on the embroidery.
Oh that is a very nice poncho. I crochet ones one for a boy and I did cars and trees just in the pattern (kind of pixel art), worked out great. I am going to try with this pattern. BUT you are giving me so much homework, I am way behind...my list is growing longer and longer!
This came just in time I was looking for fun baby clothes patterns for my cousin's upcoming son. His room is cowboy themed so with a few adjustments this is extra perfect!
OMG!!!! I still have this pattern book and yes, my mom made this poncho for my daughter!!! She practically slept in it!!! Seems to me even babies were better dressed than today's baby!! LOL!! Actually my only grand-daughter wore it too!! I was blessed with 4 grand-sons so they were content with modern blankies. The last grand-son I crocheted him an aviator type winter cap and stuck one of hubby's aviation pins (he worked 35 years in the fabrication of planes)
Wow! Back in the '70s the yarn was so thick! I'd like to see it in a more delicate yarn, cotton or mohair perhaps. It looks bulky. Again, my opinion. Love you Mystery patterns. I am always amazed!
I like that stacked method way better. I have shaky hands so when I chain I can accidentally make chains slightly smaller or bigger than intended so my crochet never looks as neat as I’d like, especially my edges. This looks great for that!! ❤
It's so much like a crochet hooded Cape my nan made for my eldest brothers christening that then got used for all of us 5 siblings. Only difference was it was very long and was trimmed in blue velvet ribbon weaved into it. I kept it to dress my baby dolls in.
I just think it's so very adorable you could make them for someone who is having a baby and give it as a gift❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤. I love , love, love your videos when I get some yarn I'm gonna make a lot of the patterns I love vintage crochet patterns. My grandma taught me how to crochet and I have arthritis so it keeps my fingers from getting so stiff that they won't work anymore so glad I found you on RU-vid you inspire me to crochet more so ty and God bless you and your family
Hi, omg....this is adorable!! I love ponchos, my grandma would crochet me ponchos and capes growing up. I wish they never went out of style, I don't care, I still wear them. I'm definitely making one for my child mannequin lol! Thanks for sharing 💜☺
Corrina, your poncho is so very sweet! And you did great on the embroidery! I was never good at free hand or stamped embroidery! That's why I became addicted to counted cross stitch! Watching you, I kept thinking how the poncho could be made bigger, in red and not sewn shut - would make an awesome Little Red Riding Hood costume for Halloween! Thank you for another of your excellent and easy to follow tutorials! You rock girl!
Good Morning Corinna, this little Poncho is so cute. Embroidery is my other favorite thing to do so this will be fun to do and I even have a sweet little girl who just turned 1 that I can give this too. Thank you!
Put st markers in the middle of the 3'sts. Increase where the markers are and move the marker to the middle st of the new group. For 2 SC inc put the markers in the first st, so it is the second st when work is turned. Less counting required. 😊 The sl sts around the collar are to stop the collar from stretching out of shape. 😅
Used to make an invisible decrease by working into back loops of stitch’s (while working decrease)… the front loop looks like the 2 stitches but the back loop decrease the stitch count. Not sure if that’s that you referred to as invisible double crochet decrease. Work a regular decrease but working in back loops is what I’m trying to say…🫠 words… hard this morning 😂
That is so cute ! I think you did really well with your embroidery, just like some others have said finish and knot off after each flower stops all the tails , i pain i know, but it looks a little better on the inside , but it is really great whatever way x
I’m in a middle of a crochet project now, so I’m going to save this video and make it later. My niece is have a little girl, and this would look adorable on her. Thank you so much for sharing ☺️!
cute overload .... teeny tiny little red riding hood . Where was this pattern when my grand daughter was a baba ? She's just turned 7 and wanted a shawl so thats what my princess got 🥰🥰
Hello Corinna, Oh how cute this is, I wish my granddaughter was still itty-bitty, I would have made this for her. As always, thank you for another fun video 🧶
I love what you do, but my I make a suggestion? When you go 2-3 rows ahead in explaining the pattern it’s confusing to the ones that would like to follow or beginners. Learned that from when I started crocheting.
Joanna, I have the same problem, just for different reasons. When I decide to make an item from a tutorial (usually things with multiple row repeats), I take the time to write out the instructions. (using pencil due to many corrections & noting start times of each row in red) It's time consuming and I do LOTS of pausing & rewinding. If what I've written doesn't work, I know where in the tutorial to go to see where I went wrong. I enjoy the challenge of this process and I get all the free patterns I want!!! Win/win!!! This is what works for me. Hope it helps you.
@@roxanamcglinchey6613 I was very fortunate that Mama included reading patterns when she taught me to crochet. So, do you write out full words - chain, single crochet, double crochet, etc.? That would put you half way to knowing how to read patterns! Now you could learn the abbreviations used in patterns - ch for chain, sc for single crochet, dc for double crochet, tr for treble crochet, etc. The next step could be to learn what the symbols used in patterns mean. I hope that you will make the effort to learn to read patterns - it will open up so many more possibilities for you. Then maybe you'll want to learn how to work from a chart! Or perhaps you'll decide you're happy working from tutorials. Enjoy your journey wherever it takes you!
I have this book!! Its seen better days, now its all battered with ripped pages, puppy chewed corners.... from several diff puppies through the decades... lol. I bought it to make this pattern when I was 9? Maybe 10?
Hi ! This looks so great !! I’m just scared it will be a bit small for the baby I want to make it for. Do you know how I could increase the size ?? Thank you🙏🏻🥰
Hello, I’m new to your channel. I absolutely love this pattern. Please may I ask about the yarn, I live in the uk, so to get red hear super saver is very expensive, can I use any Aran weight yarn?
When I tried to make this I was always one stitch off for some reason? I tried 3 times so I don’t really understand what I’m doing wrong 😭 when I do the first increase I always have an extra stitch at the end and when I do the double crochet increases I’m always one behind when I get to the 10th stitch
I have seen steps for invisible single and double crochet. The invisible SC is used a lot in animiguri. (sorry about the spelling) Here is a video for the invisible DC decrease. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hoq4sopzibI.html
Love the pattern, hate the hood, would have been so much easier to make it as a separate piece and just add it on. I ende up taking the join off and finishing it and then adding it on.
@@justvintagecrochet thank you, I missed seeing it. I love your channel. Thank you for all you do for the wonderful art of crochet! You're a blessing. ❤️
Hola cómo estás! Precioso poncho con capucha.❤🇦🇷.podrias por favor tejer zapatos/botas crochet para descanso? Muchas gracias. Muy bello todo lo q hases. Un saludo desde Argentina.
PLEASE BE AWARE, !!!!!!! they stopped making long drawstrings on baby and children's garments, they can be a choking, hanging hazard...so you might have to sew in a piece of elastic and secure a little bow on each side...
While it does look very nice, I won't be joining you on this one for two reasons: I don't know anyone young enough to use one of these, and being that I live in South Florida, it's just way too warm to be wearing something like this.
This is very cute and adorable….BUT ponchos on toddler’s can be very dangerous if they are old enough to play on playground equipment. They can easily catch on bolts, ect and can strangle a toddler. Just be careful! I’m old enough to remember news coverage about this😢
