Fun Fact: Jesse Ventura was delighted to find out from the wardrobe department that his arms were one inch bigger than Arnold Schwarzenegger's. He suggested to Schwarzenegger that they measure arms, with the winner getting a bottle of champagne. Ventura lost, because Schwarzenegger had told the wardrobe department to tell Ventura that his arms were bigger. You're going to have to get up much earlier in the day to get one over a professional practical joker. Don't Drink It Fact: The Predator's blood - a goopy substance with the color of Mountain Dew - was made on-set using a mixture of the liquid from inside glow sticks and KY Jelly. Practical Effect Fact: The invisibility cloaking effect was achieved with a bright red suit (because it was the farthest opposite of the green of the jungle and the blue of the sky) the size of the Predator. The red was removed with chroma key techniques, leaving an empty area. The take was then repeated without the actors using a 30% wider lens on the camera. When the two takes were combined optically, the jungle from the second take filled in the empty area. Because the second take was filmed with a wider lens, a vague outline of the alien could be seen with the background scenery bending around its shape.

The hostages were executed. We see one get capped in the head, and the other was already dead by the time they got to the guerilla camp. There were no other hostages. Billy says "They took the two men from the helicopter." "Six men wearing US issued army boots, they came in from the north, and then they followed the guerillas." Hoppers men were on the trail of the guerillas and then they were taken down by the Predator.

Said it before and I'll say again; the most "guy" movie ever made. The culture of the predator revolves around the hunt. In their society, the individual's worth and standing is measured by how successful a hunter they are. The tougher the prey they bring down, the greater their honor, the higher their standing.

Yep, his vision is indeed infrared. We have had (since the Vietnam war) a device called a FLIR. Forward Looking InfraRed. The Predators use the same thing as their basic vision. They can see in many different types of vision. IR, Ultraviolet, X-Rays, Etc…. You’ll see more of it in Predator 2 which it looks like you just reacted to. I guess that’s my next video to watch. 👍

My father, in his infinite wisdom, took me and my younger siblings to a drive in to see this. I was 8 and I was terrified of invisible monsters for months. But it's one of my favorite movies now. Great reaction as always.

@4:20, military teams like this train and live together year around. They know one another’s skills and moves. Putting in someone who is a desk jockey adds a bit of chaos to the works. Notice how later Dillon is making too much noise when they are supposed to be quiet. He was out of practice in fieldcraft.

Someone has probably already told you this, but predator is a trophy hunter. The reason for going hand to hand in the end was because Arnie was a worthy opponent, so predator gave him a fighting chance. For predator, it was sport.

@16:00, Jesse Ventura and Richard Chaves are actually Vietnam combat vets. Ventura was in the Navy and Chaves was in the Army. Supposedly the line about not having time to bleed was an inside joke. Schwarzenegger did a one year required stint in the Austrian army.

If you think you have the stones, you should check out Predator 2. It’s criminally underrated but fun as hell. It also adds more about the Yautja (species of the predator), plus more weaponry. It’s balls to the wall crazy. Loved how you jumped almost every time the camera switched to the Yautja’s vision. Friendly feedback: If you ever have to step away to grab ice or anything, you should cut from leaving to returning. Other than that, great reaction.

I love this movie! I'm so glad they went with the predator design Stan Winston made rather than the original concept that was a bit generic, I used to watch this all the time as a teenager and I love the bit where you get your first good look at him and he has all dreadlocks and lizard skin and the mask, so cool!

The guy telling all of the off color jokes is actually renowned Hollywood screenwriter Shane Black. He has written the script for such movies as Die Hard, Lethal Weapon and Iron Man 3. One of his trademarks is when he writes a storyline it takes place around Christmas.

Predator 2 with Danny Glover was an amazing movie!!! I liked it even better than the first. It was an interesting variation on a theme compared to this movie and the Predator’s choice of hunting grounds and the prey he was after in that movie, although the consistent theme was still the fact he was attracted by heat and conflict!!!

hi love your reactions, just to give some background for this movie the predator is an ancient alien warrior race called Yautja. they have complicated society structures based off honour and hunting. they go trophy hunting around the universe and value dangerous species highly as trophies. humans are considered quite good prizes because of our intelligence and tech. predators don't harm non combatants, children, elderly or sickly... there's no honour in that. they target soldiers, murders, police etc etc armed, trained and dangerous ppl. their homeland is very hot and so they prefer hot climates. there are different types and different ranks of predators but that's way more than u need know at this point 👍

Great movie and I dont even like horror movies but this has a mix of action in it. You know that Die Hard , Predator and Commando are in the same universe. The General in Die Hard 2 come from the same country with jungles of Predator and the drug lord in Commando. You should also see The Running Man a great underrated movie with Arnold that came out the same time but was overshadowed by this movie success

My #1 favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger movie! Facts you didn't know about the movie: Jean Claude van Damme played the Predator in some parts of the movie, but quit production as he was tired of wearing the original suit which looked like a lizard insect hybrid. He even wanted to kickbox Arnold but the producers refused. Kevin Peter Hall, RIP, was cast as the titular character as he was more of an intimidating opponent for Arnold's character Dutch, being 7'2". The PREDATOR suit was done by Oscar Winning VFX artist Stan Winston Studios. The would later return to the franchise for PREDATOR 2 in 1990. The producers hired a bodyguard to protect people from Sonny Landham, RIP whom played Billy, to protect people from him as he was prone to violent outbursts. Landham said in an interview that, "We weren't making a movie, it was a survival story for all of us." Half the cast and crew got food poisoning except for Arnold and Director McTiernan whom ate Spaghetti O's and PBJ Sandwiches. Schwarzenegger would later hire his own personal Chef to give the actors the food they needed. It was 110° in the shade while it was 42° degrees at night. It rained for 2 weeks, making filming even more difficult. The film was a box office success, making $100 million dollars ($350 million dollars today) against an $18 million dollar budget. It was nominated for Best Visual Effects, but lost to InnerSpace. It's now considered to be one of the best Sci-fi Action movies ever made.

You should watch the Karate Kid original movies (their 3 of them they were also made in the 80's) their really good and if you end up enjoy them then you should watch the series Cobra Kai (which takes place thirty year later and what the characters are doing with their lives as adults)

One of my fave movies. But actually my comment is you're a fellow ice muncher! There's not many of us so I loved it when you got ice to munch. I munch on ice pretty much all day long. I keep several ice trays in the freezer in fact. Most ppl think I'm nuts. There is a biological reason. Usually we're low in iron. The lower you are the more ice you crave. So word to the wise to get your iron levels checked.

The predators tactics always bothered me, he comes down kills all of the first American squad all at once, then does nothing to the rebels nearby, then waits to take on this squad one on one. It hunts backwoods villagers using high-tech weapons and camouflage, so it doesn't seem to have any standards or honor so it wasn't like the rebels were beneath him, but they were super relaxed.

This is good for being the first movie, but Prey takes you back to the very first time that Predators ever came to this planet, but first watch Predator two first. But have to admit Pray was the best out of all the movies.

I disagree..Predator 1987 is flat out better than Prey. Prey is good though. Predator 2 is criminally underrated and is good as well. Predator 1987 is the best Predator film.
