If they went with Dutch's twin for the sequel they should have had Danny Devito play 'im.

I was never bothered about the absence of Schwarzenegger in Predator 2. The Predator franchise works best as a series of different characters, differing environments, etc. Plus Danny Glover was damn good in this badass sequel.

I think the scene in the warehouse where he's flipping through visions (and that's he's surprised that he himself is being hunted, or shocked by their plan), and where he's hangs off the ledge by his disk, just reinforces the fact that this predator is a younger and/or inexperienced Predator. Either way it's a very enjoyable movie.

I think Gary is correct and Iain wrong - those other Preds are there to observe the younger one'S hunting ...and I don't even think "we" are the greatest game to hunt...we are probably the starting species...and the Xenomorphs the upper tier ... the Pred2-hunter failed basically at his turorial mission ^^

Favourite scene is when Danny is chasing the predator through the house and the old woman is there, Danny startles her and says don't worry i'm a cop! to which she replies.. I don't think he gives a shit! haha makes me giggle everytime

Bill Paxton is the only person to get killed by an Alien, A Predator, and A freaking Terminator.

I still think a real Predator 4 should finally go to the Predator homeworld. I’ve always pictured it like a mixture of Conan meets Gladiator. The best warriors they’ve encountered that bested them get captured. In the way it would mimic Conan is we would eventually learn Dutch was captured years ago and has been fighting in gladiatorial combat and is basically King Conan meets Dutch. He’s been on this planet for more than two decades so he’s forgotten his humanity. He could be wearing parts of Predator armor. Wrist-blades, and a helmet, we’d find out that it’s Dutch pretty soon but I’d like it to be a mystery for a tiny bit. Main Character would basically rally these warriors including a reluctant Dutch to revolt and find a way off the planet. This movie would never get made though lmao.

Maybe unpopular but I prefer 2 over the original. And I do love the original as well, just that there's more going on in Predator 2 and as you said it expands the mythos

Was always my favorite Predator movie, partly because I saw it first and partly because I grew up in a city during the days when gangs were actually bad in a similar city in America, end of 80s to early 90s. Still see the first Predator as the better one, but the city flare to it and adding to the Predators lore and set up was way better. Still have the old Predator 2 poster that shows you the Predator and tells you the purpose of all his weapons and gear.

This movie is amazing. Lucky enough to see it in theaters.

El Scorpio had the best scene in this movie. He and his goons load up weapons and then he throws a pound of coke in his face and yells "El Scorpio is ready!!!"

4:55 Arnie in predator 1 was a leader of an elite special unit, can't expect him to cry every time a team member goes down, he has to keep the team focused LOL

Used to watch this just as much as the first film when I was a kid. Never cared that Arnold wasn't in it. I loved seeing the Predator's new toys, Paxton and Busey being hilarious, and the overall tone of the film. Lots of scenes and weird editing that used to make my brother and I laugh too. Like the city-scape establishing shots with the woman moaning before the Jamaican gang show up. Glover repeatedly turning with his gun drawn with that dramatic music sting when he gets spooked at the graveyard. And of course Morton Downey jr. If the crazy way he was talking throughout the movie (as well as the stuff he was saying) wasn't funny enough, Glover punching him in the face was something we'd quote/imitate all the time.

Very under rated movie. The original is better overall. But in some ways this movie does some things better. Great quotable scenes and action. Just a non stop action thrill ride with some funny moments and cool characters. Brilliant stuff.

Great Review guys 👍 This film holds a place in my heart cause I was there when they were filming the subway scenes. They had just finished the construction of the Bart subway train in the Bay Area near San Francisco and we were on a school field trip and getting a chance to ride it to our destination and I remember us being held up cause they were still shooting footage of the subway sequence for that day, and I remember one of the teachers complaining and saying that their filming some movie called Predator 2 and that she never heard of or even saw Predator part 1 and that they need to hurry up lol ( but she was really old) and I got so excited cause I was like, their making a new Predator!!! I love that freaking movie lol I was 9 years old at the time but even now I still consider this movie as one of the best If not thee best of the Predator sequels.

I've always loved Predator 2 since I watched it in 1990. Yes, the first is superior but it's still an awesome movie. It's the second best predator film and is an awesome action/SciFi film.

I think the predator in 2, is a fresh one, and possibly the Elder's Son. Which is why he has so many weapons to protect himself, and why none of the other predators there went out hunting. It's the Son's test. So he was eager to please his father. And it's why the elder tosses Danny the gun at the end. In respect, but because it was his blood that was fallen. I also don't believe a pred that has killed a Xeno, would have trouble with Danny.

Your comment here about Arnie and Danny Glover are absolutely spot on ! And I thought this way back at the time, but unfortunately it seemed nobody else felt that way?? Obviously I’m wrong, and there were way more people out there who agreed with my feelings on this topic…. So it’s great to see Predator 2 finally getting the love and respect it so richly deserves!! By the way, Danny Glover at the time was a far superior Actor to Schwarzenegger absolutely!!

My absolute favourite moment of the movie is when the predator gives Danny Glover the pistol trophy at the end at it says like 1618 or whatever on it and you realise they have been visiting earth and hunting us for a LONG time.

LOVE Predator 2. Does it have flaws? Sure, but it also respected what came before in the original, expanded on the lore and weapons of the Predator just enough, we saw more of the Predator, Kevin Peter Hall (RIP) also played City Hunter differently from Jungle Hunter to give him his own distinction, great cast, very well done action scenes, awesome setting having it take place in the city, cool take having it be a detective story, etc. Director Stephen Hopkins (Nightmare On Elm Street 5: The Dream Child, Judgment Night, The Ghost & The Darkness) did a very solid job with it.

They should do TV series episode reviews, Tales From the Crypt, Twilight Zone etc...

Love the way you guys discuss a movie. REALLY enjoyed this movie when it was released and how much lore it brought into the Predator franchise (which has yet to be given justice).

My interpretation was always that this was a young Predator who was being given his 'First Hunt' kind of rite of passage; because the other Predators hang back on the ship and wait for him even when they could all be hunting together. Him putting the skull on the trophy wall was kind of like a kid bringing back their first football trophy and putting it next to Dad's, especially since he frankly failed at taking out that old cop quite a bit. The cops in the city are 'tough' and so are the gangs, but they're still city folk compared to Arnie and the trained, on edge military commando's - it's like a golden retriever vs. a trained attack dog, just not the same challenge level.

I love the dancing Predators. XD

See what compelled me as a kid watching this is the fact it was set in a city. It made it real and freaked me out

The part where they have the Predators dance with Danny was the greatest thing from this movie

You know I've never really thought about this but if you think about it the skull of the xenomorph that's inside the trophy case would have been exceptionally difficult to skin and isolate with all that acid blood. Eitherway, ive always loved this film. I got out of it what I wanted

Predator 1 and 2 are completely different movies. The first is a 80's macho action sci-fi movie with Arnold. Part 2 is cop, action sci-fi movie with Glover. Not to mention the dystopian Los Angeles with record unemployment, record crime and record heat wave. As if this movie kind of told the future as to where we are now.

I didn’t really enjoy the film but I really like how Glover steps into the shoes of a film star with the likes of arnie

I enjoy Predator 2. I think one of the reasons it's underrated is because of how it compares to the first movie versus how Aliens compares to Alien and T2 compares to Terminator. It's much more common for hollywood sequels to be worse than the original, but it happened to get lumped in with two other franchises that buck the trend by having absolutely stellar second films. If Predator 2 had been even worse then the rest of it's franchise wouldn't have even happened, and we'd be more likely to have forgotten that Predator 2 ever existed instead of remembering it as slightly lackluster compared to the magic of Predator.

I love 💘 the way u guys point out the inconsistent parts of the films. I grew up in the early 1990's when this film came out. The portrayal of gang violence and the journalists in the film was actually a trend at the time.

This was a Saturday night movie on tv I caught as a kid... I've always remembered how much fun it was to watch as a kid. Never watched as an adult , because I quickly learned the movies I adored as a kid are usually awful to watch again in my mid 30s. So if rather have the happy memories than the film to be ruined via a new watch

Ik this sounds crazy I actually enjoy predator 2 more than the first!. Ik the first films the best most would say but this was a decent sequel. Its good that sequels do something different. If Arnold came back it be kinda stale to me tbh. Was this film better than the first? Honestly I'd say no but at least to me I favor the city setting and predator design. Gary and Ian said it best the characters are also more fleshed out. This was a great sequel to me

Seeing the Predator in the water ... I think it was just a cool visual they thought of. It is also symbolic, as you said, of the Other Side. I wasd wondering if it was showing how it's tech worked. Maybe it takes a picture of what is behind it and shows it around it as it turns, but what you are seeing is not in the "cameras'" view, so you don't see it cloaked. because the cameras don't take in reflective water into account because, as we've seen, water doesn't agree with it, so it is not designed to be immersed in water, so that's why it is that way? *shrugs*

Was literally shocked go grow up and find out this film don't get much love, thought it was a brilliant sequel as a kid and still do. Expanded on the lore and had some great scenes and lines to boot... It's alright I'm a cop. "I don't think he gives a shit." haha

Agree with gary. This is a young,reckless,but BadAss youngblood. The Alien Skull is a trophy of one of the others on the ship.

Lmao rewatching when all the predators get uncloaked makes me chuckle because they seem to be missing everything from the shin downward. (I know it's "hidden" in the fog but still)

I remember my mum renting this for me from our local total garage. I was well chuffed cause I had no idea there was a predator 2, so when I saw it my excited reaction made it impossible for my mum not to rent it right there and then. Of course I really enjoyed it, I've always been a fan of this one and have never understood some of the hate it gets. It's not as good as the original but still, it's awesome nonetheless. Loved Bill Paxton.

The trouble is, it became almost Trendy to say “ Not as good as the first film, but….” with no other real sensible reasons as to why it wasn’t?? Personally, I thought the Characters in Pred 2 were far more believable than the grunts in the first one! And in the Acting stakes between Glover and Arnie, well sorry Arnie, you don’t hold a candle to Danny in the Acting stakes!!

This movie is everything wrong with sequels IMO. I went in loving the original and thought i put the wrong dvd in! Where's Arnie? Where's a jungle or forest. Hated it and still think it's the worst predator movie.

Highly Underrated ! At times it feels as good as the first Predator.
