For some reason, the violence doesn't freak me out, but it's the music that creeps me out when it comes to this movie. To be fair, I had seen the 'Evil Dead' movies before this and I had people give away the film's story. But this is a very iconic horror movie franchise
One of my favs! What a classic, I first saw this when I was way to young lol, absolutely uniquely entertaining, don't ever stop what you do guys, love it! 👌🏻👊👊
The performance from that first kill is amazing, it proper affected me. Brilliant all round. Great movie too of course. Not sure why you guys didn't review all the Freddy movie's, I mean Christ, you guys did all the howling movies, so why not Freddy or Friday the 13th or Chucky movies. It would be nice to hear ya unique take on these horror classics.
You know I have one question if Freddy was burning in the house why did the house not catch on fire I mean if your burning in a house and your running the house should also be on fire correct me if I'm wrong
I watched this for the first time this year and when she pulled that hat back into the hospital from her dream i honestly had shivers running down my spine.
I always forget how goddamn creepy this movie is. It really is scary as shit, and one of the main reasons is because you never know when it's a dream, and when it's reality. Great review as usual, guys. Consider reviewing the Creepshow movies, Enemy Mine, and Twilight Zone: The Movie.
Im just glad the fanbase is growing! They deserve more subs. I wouldn't be surprised to see them hit 10k by the end of this month! I just saw their T2 review is at 36k views o.O
Robert englund was in the second one only after they realized they needed him. Pretty sure it was a money issue. But they still used shots of the other guy and you can clearly tell the difference.
real Fact 50% to 65% of A NIGHTMARE on ELM STREET part 2 FREDDY'S REVENGE a double was used in a few scenes Freddy jumping out of the pool patio the boiler room Freddy-Jesse combo burning various stunts the double was used for far away shots HOWEVER the original script had nothing to do with FREDDY because Robert Englund wasn't available at first and then his agent who he fired right after asked NEWLINE for more money ROBERT ENGLUND got the only thing he really wanted a starring credit that held him as FREDDY for almost 20 more years Part 2 to FREDDY vs JASON the producers of A NIGHTMARE on ELM STREET 2010 never asked him because they owed JACKIE EARLE HALEY a favor WORST MISTAKE in FILM EVER
@@jamesgiles4517 Ummm actually in terms of pop culture, Michael wasn't really that big, Freddy had toys, lunchboxes & other paraphernalia back in the 80's & 90's, you were lucky to find a somewhat ok Michael Myers mask back then!
Good observation about Tina waking just before she dies, but I have another suggestion: maybe she wasn't asleep, but in a hypnagogic state: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnagogia As for her fall onto the bed: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnic_jerk
I've seen more trivia and behind the scenes for Nightmare on Elm Street than any other film. None of the trivia you provided was anything new haha but that's my fault for watching NEVER SLEEP AGAIN the elm street legacy.
This franchise used to teriffy me as a child. Now I find the movies more cheesy and comical at times, at least the sequals. Definitely a classic, didn't care for the newer one.
If they do a remake, they definitely need to make Freddy, exactly as Robert Englund's face, or very similar. And the actor who will portray him, needs to channel those mannerisms, make it it's own, but at the same time channel that. Great video as usual, guys! :)
I don't necessarily disagree, however I do like when remakes try do something there own way. Imo usually it's better because then you have two distinct movies And leave the original in its own state
The 2010 remake sucked. But not because of Jackie Earl Haley. I thought he was great as Freddy Krueger. If they do try again. They should definitely remake Jackie Earl Haley.
Great review. I absolutely love this movie, it's a favourite of mine and I've been waiting for you to review it for a while. Here's a suggestion. You guys should review the 1986 Michael Mann movie 'Manhunter'. Even if you don't review it, I'd highly recommend it to you guys if you haven't seen it.
I just watched Nightmare on Elm Street for the first time (know I'm late to the party) and Wow I was blown away, the music, the atmosphere, scares based on actual fear and not jump scares, Freddy was likeable but I wanted him dead but that's because I loved the main character so much, such an amazing movie! ( should I watch the remake or the rest of the series ?)
Brill video lads I can’t stop watching your videos you go into the films with so much depth.I know this video is old but I think this is one of the best iconic horror films out there,I also love Freddy’s Revenge.👍
I saw Elm Street in '84when I was 12, and recognized Fleischer from Welcome Back Kotter. He played a rival to the Sweathogs who had a sidekick who repeated everything he said. Haven't see it since the 70's, but never forgot him. 😄
in my opinion original VHS tapes look better because of the grainy film makes it look real because real life isn't in HIGH DEFINITION things get blurry
It's crazy to think that David Warner was originally cast as Freddy Krueger, and that Robert Englund was his replacement after Warner's pre-existing shooting schedule with another production conflicted with the Nightmare on Elm Street schedule. If you look up the David Warner make up tests, it's quite surreal to see another actor in that original role. Robert Englund is Freddy Krueger and there's no replacing him, but it's interesting to see just how close that iconic role almost went to someone else.
Not that the sequels are terrible, but the only two Nightmare films you need to watch are part 1 and part 3. The Dream Warriors completes Nancy's arc quite nicely, has some very imaginative dreams sequences with quirky characters, and is set in an asylum. The way they defeat Freddy at the end could've wrapped up the series quite nicely. Didn't need any more sequels after that, but I'm still glad we got to see some more Freddy.
If Freddy Krueger was the name of Wes Craven’s high school bully then Wes got the ultimate revenge. That guys name will always carry nightmare on elm street with it.
Did you know that British actor David Warner was supposed to play Freddy Krueger until he dropped out and cast Robert Englund. Enjoy your RU-vid videos
The first film didn’t really have it at all but subsequent films had stuff that Freddy said which really made me laugh!! “ Primetime Bitch!! “ when he rams the girls head into the television in number 3 for example.
If taken by itself we are supposed to believe that if she kills Freddy in the real world he will be dead for good an go back to hell.I believe we are supposed to take from this film that nancy gave Freddy the power to enter her dreams like hes feeding off her.Which is why she says I take back all the energy I gave .Wes Cravens original idea was to have the whole film be one big long dream that Freddy was giving Nancy. The only logical way I can look at this movie by judging it by itself is it was on e long nightmare to me thats the only logical way to see this film. An the ending when she says this whole thing is just a dream an that Freddy isnt really alive.Tells me the whole film was a dream. An that the ending is she defeats Freddy an thinks shes awake but twist ending shes still a sleep.Kinda like something from Inception. To me thats the only logical way to look at this movie.
A movie all about dreams turning out to be a dream on the end not really that bad and I never seen that it's all was a dream trope and I've seen alot of movies
Love your work lads, but just for clarification, he Freddy was replaced momentarily by a stuntman for the second film, but they quickly brough him back because it wasnt working. Im sure you guys know that, its just that the way you guys said it, made it sound like Robert Englund didnt play Freddy in the second film, which he did.
There's actually a scene in part 2 with the stunt double as Freddy. The scene when Freddy kills coach Sneider in the shower is the stunt double and its horrible.
Good review. I enjoyed the back and fourth discussion, but with some lighthearted moments too. This is one of the most original and scary horror movies. Great characters too. I tend to agree that the final scene is a Nightmare. That is why you have the surreal image of Nancy's Mum happily waving to Nancy and her friends being attacked by Freddy in the car. I'm happy with the ending personally. Probably say this, Nightmare 3 and A New Nightmare are the three best of the series.
Tina being the starting character and then dying was a nice twist. Many movies have since taken it but it reminded me of Psycho, which is a good thing to homage.
I always wondered why Freddy only had Tina as a target to kill, yet when she was killed he stalked multiple targets in Nancy, Glen and Rod. Why didn’t Freddy do that when Tina was alive??
No way, only 7 minutes of screen time for Freddy?! That's crazy never realised that back in the day , still an absolute belter of a film.Totally agree about the sequels complete rubbish but guilty pleasures none the less.Top review guys been bingeing yous past couple of days 👏👏
