Hello I meant to ask if I can use 100% synthetic oil being that I know that Vehicles last a lot longer are you smoke one synthetic but if I use synthetic on the generator will that tend to make the cylinder piston rings everything last longer

@@johnnysweekends How do you loosen the spark plug boot, you passed it as if your unit did not have the cable boot connected to the spark plug I tried pulling it and it is glued for good

Great video! I might add... Get a aftermarket magnetic dipstick. Change your oil twice within the 30 hours break in. Pull all metal shavings off dipstick each time. (There will be a lot). This will maximize your engine lifespan a ton. 🤟🤟

Bad idea. The little ball magnet falls out and then youve introduced more metal than you could ever pick up. Proper break in (changed my oil 3 times in the first tank) and then proper maintenance after the break in period, will resolve the need for magnetic pickups.

Just a update for you guys about thos generator... I use it almost everyday with 600w load... mine currently has 3500 hrs on it and still running... I change oil with synthetic at 100hrs and I use a ngk spark plug cr5hsb

I have had my Predator 2000 thru a few storms in winter and the spring and it has held up fine. The only complaint I have is there needs to be a inline fuel filter to pick up any trash from the fuel. I recently tried starting mine after less than a month and it wouldn’t start. I checked the oil, filter, spark plug and carb. The culprit and fix was to drain the fuel from the bowl since there was trash in it. This fixed the issue and runs great now!

⛽️ keep the fuel tank filter in place... pop the side cover off & drain the carb bowl before storage and you will be copacetic

When I shut my off, I turn the air vent off, then almost turn the dial to shut it off and that starves itself for gas and burns off the remaining fuel out the carb. Few extra pulls to start it but the carb doesn't gum up with fuel between starts

Awsome work...I just replace the flame filter restor it was clogged real bad that it made my overload light blink,Blick ...and my generator wouldn't stay on to long 20 minutes. ,running crappie ,and shaking generator was moving around in circles,no power tools working ..thanks for tips 👍.now is stable sounds smoother . no overload blinking light...yehhh,..I even looked at the manual troubleshooting guide and their is nothing there guiding me to the filter restor????

You forgot some things. What do you do if that exhaust screen is dirty? You say oil should come up to the threads. Look in that hole. The threads look like they go way down there and don’t match the dip sticks length. Finally do you run out the gas if you are not going to use it for a long time?

I've been cleaning the air filters on my Honda every 50 hours as per the manual. Total overkill given that I'm running it in the fresh air. Also I need one of them clip on funnels!

Yea depending where you use the gen every 50 hrs hrs can be a little much. But not everyone treats them the same so maybe bump to 75 hrs unless its in dirty conditions. But having a clean air filter helps it breath and run efficiently so nothing wrong with every 50hrs. The funnel i just wedge in there lol and it stays...Walmart 😁 Thanks for the comment and thanks again for watching and Subscribe 👍😃

You don’t need to pull of ignition coil just the spark plug boot only. Just lift it straight up.

When should I not turn on my eco button?? Is there a certain wattage it shouldn't exceed?

Yes, if you use say a compressor and it starts and stops alot then circumstances like that is a good time to have the eco switch off. Or starting up ac units. And load that requires full boost power is when it should be off then after say a AC unit is running then turn it on.

I want to purchase one of these generators for emergency use only. Should I keep gas in the generator or should I fill it up when I need to use it? Mostly for the rare power failure in my area. Thanks for an excellent video.

Honestly empty is better that way you have fresh fuel when you need it. That way if its 2 years before you use it the carburetor will not be compromised from old fuel possibly damaging it. Now you could drain the carb with the drain screw and that also works. Or leave empty and get a metal can of ethanol free fuel from say home depot or lowes. It will be good for a few years i believe. Yup. These little engines don’t care about brand just weight and frequent oil changes. 5-30 or 10-30 is just fine. So you are good 👍🏼

I use a torch as seen in a couple other newer service videos, but a brush is quick and easy and works great. But the torch is a lot more fun. Watch the newer videos for service towards the end and it shows the torch being used. 👍🏼😀

I see you’re running full synthetic 5w-30. I heard from a mechanic that I should use “poor quality” oil for the first thing of oil (not synthetic) to help the rings seat, which will help make it so it doesn’t use/leak oil in the future. What are your thoughts on this theory? Sorry that I may not be explaining correctly

I have heard that as well to use a base mineral oil like the old days to help with break in and seat the rings. Now with the invention of new synthetic oils that have a lot of different materials in it along with cleaning agents I bet it really doesn’t make a difference and even if it does it would take years to find out between one engine and another used in the same fashion with normal service. Most people never keep anything longer then 7 years now if not less before they sell or upgrade or whatever. So everyone who does all this crazy maintenance or use super expensive oils which most are pretty close except amsoil, all your doing is helping the next guy and then the next guy. And most the times engines die from abuse or neglect verses a normal break down from a manufacturer defect. In most these generators I hardly hear of a generator loosing a piston or something from any oil. These are basic lawn mower engines. And with normal use and maintenance they will run fine with the correct weight of oil that is changed frequently. Your motor is not a performance engine so it doesn’t care. And more then likely the inverter board will fry long before the motor dies. Sorry for the long explanation lol….🤣😅👊🏼

I would assume it if it’s running ok then it should be fine. I would check the oil level again and make sure it’s correct. Only to the bottom of the threads when level

Can I use Honda 10 w30 oil in my predator generator? I don't think it's senthetic?

Yup you can use just about any oil as long as it’s the correct weight. I almost think I’m going back to semi synthetic for about everything. It’s cheaper and honestly I have never seen a engine these days with proper maintenance die because of a oil lubricant problem. It’s normally something that fails due to neglect or abuse.

I don't know what carb it is but it's probably the jet needs cleaning on the top of the carb. It's probably under a little brass screw behind the throttle shaft if it's a Yamaha clone. You would remove the screw and the jet and run a small strand of wire through the holes in it and rinse with solvent and reinstall. Might also be under the idle screw if it's a clone of a Honda carb. NGK always. Nothing special just a standard plug. Just get the cross over reference when you go to the store.

I could just run a splitter on my 50a plug with 2 plugs and run the side that runs the ac on one off eco and the other in eco I suppose

For like a rv..? I you want to power each line you could do it that way then. AC side eco off, and all other minimal loads with other unit. Depends on the rv though and how its wired.

Would really like to see a video taking the carburetor off and cleaning it. I think I pinched mine while removing the recoil assembly which had one bolt bottom that was really hard to get off. I might have pinched the hoses or changed the cable setting not sure. It would be nice to see how all that works and its settings :-) There are no videos on YT on removing the carburetor on this particular generator. The problem I have at the moment is that when I put a coffee machine on it it revs up as it should but just about 30 seconds into it it winds down suddenly almost dies, then comes back up again but not as high as it should. After removing the coffee machine it winds down to its eco speed again as it should and while I have my laptop and phone on it it runs really smoothly as before. Before I changed the recoil assembly I didn't have this issue. I did leave the generator standing for 3 weeks fully fueled up which might have been a mistake. The carburetor could have gotten a little sticky with the standing fuel in it.

Its actually overloading now with the Black Decker coffee machine which is only 650 W this wasn't a problem before. I stopped using the coffee machine and just have my laptop running on it which still works fine. But something really weird happened :-) It was handling the coffee maker just fine before for months.

Well start with all the basics first. Correct oil level, new spark plug, air filter clean so it can breath and same for spark arrestor. Also hot temps and altitude will have a big effect on how your generator performs. If you have done all those then yea a carb clean may be needed if it’s gummed and running lean it can run hot.

@@johnnysweekends Thanks Johnny yeah I took the air feeding assembly off the carburetor to get to the recoil assembly so its probably something to do with airflow. It runs a little while while the coffee machine is brewing and then it overloads which to me indicates its overheating and its a buildup. Its probably something I pinched somewhere because it was running flawlessly before. :-) Thank you for your kind response.

My Predator 2000 inverter has an engine surge. I have cleaned the carberator. The engines rpm is constant under heavy load. The esc switch does not seam to work either. Could you school me on my problems. Thanks

I assume you tried rhe circuit breaker. Also maybe pull front cover ans check the obvious like loose connections and such. Also is the whole thing not putting it power.? Possible voltage regulator to. But check the easy stuff first.

This is my friend's i have rhe a-ipower. Both have been great and never issue yet. Its really about running them, at least every couple of months for maybe 10 mins. Ethanol free fuel helps to especially during storage times.

@@johnnysweekends Make sure it's to the top of the threads, because the low oil sensor will activate and shut it down even if it's a little low. Ask me how I know ;) When in doubt, top it off.

Anyone have problems removing pull cord cover??? My cord snapped and the three bolts just spin!!!!! Help!

You will have to remove the rear and front cover to see if the insert the screw goes in, if its just spinning you’ll need to get some long pliers on the pack side. Or something to grip it to keep it from spinning. I assume if they are free spinning they where put in to hard and stripped.

@@johnnysweekends it's not the red covers it's the hub cover ...It looks like like and I have to remove everything to get at the cover which the pull cord hub attaches to...hey thanks for the response maybe u can make a video to help out the next guy...ty!

Oh the black pulley cover on the engine?? Oh those are just spinning?? That’s not good lol. Hmmm bummer there. Yea with it being there that could be a chore. Uhhhh Dude sorry yea may need to do one.
