*A quiet **Generater.Systems** , love the dual fuel capabilities, camper is 50 amp but the adapter helps and found it still handles the load. Haven't taken a camping trip yet, that's in a couple of weeks. Will see how well it does over a long weekend.*
2 hair dryers and a curling iron..😂 But if you need it for back up power on a house 4000 watts is plenty to get by for a fridge, lights and wifi and more basic items. A portable heater can draw anywhere from 500-1500 watts of power So all depends on your needs and how you use it. I know people have gotten by for 3 days on a 2200 watt generator.
I bought the Costco version of the A-ipower. Costco's has a genuine Yamaha engine which is a selling point. Identical to the A-power. Had a power failure 10 days after it was delivered (free shipping). It started on the first pull every time. Ran a refrigerator, freezer, minimal lights, small TV . No problems at all. Kept it 50 feet from the house with a 14awg extension cord to a power strip. Then 3 16awg extension cords to the fridge, freezer, TV circuits, LED lighting. WORKED GREAT!!!
My RV has that plug. 2 generators = double the noise = 3db increase = 68-69 db. Science. I love the reset on the Predator, makes a lot of sense. Thanks for all the work.
Interesting how similar all these small generators are. It's my first season with my ipower with senci engine. Impressive so far. Good run time on a tank of fuel. Instructions refer to yamaha several times. I bet a ton of different brands come from the senci factory. Their website shows that it is a huge facility.
Correct. Many small units utilize a Yamaha mz-80 clone engine. Predator Aipower Westinghouse generac champion and more. But several Chinese companies make them. Loncin, senci, rato, dacar and more. They are everywhere. And the little Aipower I think is a good little unit for the price !
What did you think...? Interesting that two of the best generators are being copied to make a Chinese based competitor. Thanks for watching and Subscribe 😃👍
The Yamaha version from sensi or copy makes a Yamaha version of the mz80 motor. It's just a clone but you do not get the Yamaha electronics or better carburetor. Most are made in Chinas city of Chongqing. The predator is a copy of Honda's gx line made by rato which also is made in chongqing. Again with out the better carb or electrical I do have a little bit of a clue of what im taking about.....😁👍 thanks for the comment.
These are both made in china, and have nothing to do with yamaha or honda except the fact that the engines are just cloned and made from another company. They are both proven designs and its not even uncommon for yamaha to sell engine products to other lines. Hence to can buy a Aipower gen with a direct drop in yamaha.
Thanks for this video. I have watched dozens of videos and read so many articles. This really helped me decide, as I really dont want to pay the more than $1000 for the Honda and cant lift a 3500 generator into my truck.
Fun fact: With today's LED light bulbs, one of these small 1600 watt inverter generators could power 160 10 watt LED light bulbs. This would equate to 9,600 watts of traditional 60 watt incandescent bulbs
I love led tech. Its made the whole world less dependent on big power consumption. And for rvs who like to dry camp its changed the game. Now a couple lights on is no big deal. Great fact ...👍 Thanks for watching...😊
Nice video I have a predator I’m not a good judge I use mine way more than they were intended there are days mine can run 24 hours a day 7 days a week All the predator I have had and still have use oil the better quality of oil the longer it lasts Spark arresters I take them off they plug up I don’t use then in hazardous areas I probably have 3000 hours on mine in the 9 months I have had it Also get the Warentee you may need it I did at about 3weeks in
I have a Honda EU 2000i for 8 years now, run it every day for at least 6 to 7 hours a day at work all I do is change the oil and change the sparkplug twice since I started using it. I love that little workhorse. I've been lucky I guess but it is still going strong and looks like a piece of junk. Maybe that's why nobody steals it of my truck.
the Predator 2000W Gene is a nice unit But has really went up in Price $619 (have seen on sale for $499) BUT ONLY Comes with a 90day Warranty !! the A-iPower 2000w can buy on Amazon for $349 and Comes with a 3 year Warranty !!
Exactly!!!! I feel it’s so under rated but I would buy it over the predator. No parallel box needed unlike the predator and sleeker design. It’s still a Best Buy I think for that size unit. I don’t hear a lot of bad about it.
Remember a 3 dbi increase is twice as loud. So running both generators are about twice as loud. It would be nice to see if generators will pick up the load from low idle to full load. My second AI power generator 2000 watt did not like taking up the low idle to full load. My first on worked just fine. First one was stolen from back of my camper. Also show people the fuel shut off hack so one can run carburetor out of fuel.
3dB may be twice the SPL but doesn’t mean humans will be able to tell if the sound is actually twice as loud. It will just appear louder. Normally takes 7-10 dB for humans to realize a significant difference, and that something is twice as loud as it was earlier. When running two identical gens at the same level or load and rpm, that sound level for one unit could be 60dB. Add the second under same condition will add normally another +1db for a total now of 61dB Adding a second unit doesn’t double the combined sound from 60dB to 120db. When running gens that will run higher loads on and off you should turn off the eco or low idle for better results
Thanks for this video, nice to see video for owners. I bought a Predator, then a couple weeks later, Costco went on sale for a-1 2300 (for $399 )which was $50 less on sale plus 2 year warranty. That sale was too painful to see with 300w more power too, ouch but with this pandemic, I will not go thru the return process. Predator has longer run time compared even with its bigger gas tank though. Pinellas said the Predator 2000 is a Yamaha clone comparing most components to EF2000is. It's Gas cap and oil threads are also identical if accessories are needed for compatibility.
After doing the video i have been seeing the predator is more close to a yamaha clone motor just like the a AI-power. The research i did in the beginning showed is was a older Honda clone but now its seems its the other way. I forget the name of the company that makes them. But it makes since, yamaha has sold there stuff to other companies for decades.
Just fyi, the NGK equivalent for the Torch spark plug the Predator 2000 comes stock with is not the same plug used in the MZ80 engine, or its clones. It is the NGK CR5HSB, which is the same plug used by my Honda EU2200's, and the same plug used by the EU2000's. So perhaps the Predator is more closely related to the Honda design than the Yamaha. I bought one today, and was absolutely floored at how quiet the thing is. I never expected that for a generator in this price range. Very impressive.
For these, ya it's about what suits you better. The Aipower over all is cheaper, and the results are very close. And these are built so close that it's hard to tell on some things. So up to you to decide. Thanks for the comment and thanks again for watching and Subscribe 👍😃
I've been sorting through various 2000/1600w options. I have a teardrop on order and was looking for a generator I could pair with it easily, and a single person could reasonably be expected to lift out of the trailer or truck alone. I found the AiPower twist lock matches my power cord out of the box. I also found an AiPower with the optional dual fuel for about the same price as the base generator price. ($449) All things being pretty much equal, it made the choice easy.
Thank you. Yes from what i have read as long as running and starting watts are generally equally you could use two different brands. Basically so they are sharing the load equally.
The dB would be lower if you place the generators away from the concrete wall, it's bouncing sound waves toward your sound detecting mic. You created a sound acoustic environment.
It’s true they would be lower but it still shows which is quieter. And over the decibel levels on a open concrete pad nets about 1-2 db less then where they were tested. What really helps is placing them on dirt, gravel, grass or anything that will absorb the sound. Or items around it like bushes and such.
Good testing, great prices. I thought the Honda EU2000 generator would run 2000W continuously (I should test that on mine!) not 1600W... My EU2000 can run the 15K BTU AC on my 2019 trailer, not sure 1600 would cut it... Note inductive loads (both of yours) can wreak havoc with sine wave inverters. Might need to use a bank of flood lights or something as your load (might get a different result!)
Love the suggestion. That's great the Honda will run a 15000 Ac 😲 Thats still a inductive load....🤔 do you have a soft start..? A friend of mine has a hondas so maybe have to run a test on that. 👍👍
I also have a 15000 btu AC unit in my 2018 trailer. I doubt this will do it as the amps are a pinch to low...i think start up is 17-18 amps. So would need a soft start or it will damage it. I think a 2300 watt generator would be great and still small.
@@johnnysweekends Sorry for the response delay... the AC in my Adrenaline toy hauler is the stock 15KBTU upgrade, I'm not sure whether it has soft start but this is the first 15K BTU AC my particular EU2000i generator has run all on its own!
I think a-i power is cheaper on amazon than the predator is at harbor freight. I still did figure out which would be the biggest bang for the buck. I'm also considering duracell generator or battery which ever it is wanted to be called. I'm flipping between the three.
After playing with both the predator generator and AI power I tend to like the Ai power better due to its sleek design and very close resemblance to a genuine Yamaha motor and it's cheaper then predator plus the 30amp parallel ready port. The battery bank generators are still not enough to power big items, charging computers and phones are fine but not for heaters high power lights and more. Hope this helps
I have both generators and have found both to be very dependable. Although they can't be paralleled because the Predator receiver is female and the a-i power is male. Are adapters made to convert?
You created curiosity regarding the Predator possibly being a Honda in the title and then didn't address it?? Conversely the A-iPower IS in fact powered by a Yamaha engine.
And after more research they are the same engines and almost exactly the same generator. Both 80cc one from sensi the other from rato which are both a Yamaha clone engine like 90 percent of what is out there.
I am looking to buy a generator between these two models as well as a firman to recharge my trailer batteries and use 120Vac accessories from time to time… which one would you recommend?
I’m not a fan of the firman, haven’t had a lot of good feedback. But if carried at Costco that’s the best selling point because they darn near take everything back. Much like harbor freight the predator with a warranty can be returned and replaced easy. I honestly liked the Aipower and it was sleek, and a little more compact. It wasn’t any louder but also had a fuel window which is nice. And honestly I get less feedback on the Aipower then most generators. Now that could be good or bad. If it’s bad most people will be like don’t buy it, it’s junk. But if it’s good a lot of times you don’t hear back. I know a couple people with the Aipower and it’s still doing good. With any unit though I would get a warranty.
I'm also wondering if any of them would power my radios. one runs on a twenty five amp power supply and the other one on a twenty amp supply this would be for a grid down scenario
I want to bring the Ai Power to Mexico for a small house. My only concern is the guaranty, I do not see this product in Mexico so I will bring it under my own risk. I liked better the Ai Power because it comes with really nice accessories, needed when you are n the middle of nowhere. Thanks much.
For the most part its a good gen But a used honda would be more reliable in the long run. But most of these cheaper gens now have been proving them selves to last a really long time. Thanks for the comment and thanks again for watching
Either with or without the Yamaha AI power will last years. Change the oil weekly. Maybe add an ounce or two of lucas oil. It will run and run and run especially on eco mode not overloaded.
I just bought to day the Power generator 2300, I would like to know could I install it on my house and use the refrigerator, two floor fans and a TV. Please let me know. Thank you.
Yes you should be able to. You'll need a transfer switch put in and plug and there are several option if you want a small distribution panel basically that has maybe 4 or 6 switches that you can have fridge on one breaker....bathroom maybe and living room with tv.... You are pretty limited with that size but a fridge and tv are gonna use most of the power pending the size of each.
Are you sure the ipower generator is a Honda engine? If so, what did Honda use it in in the past. The reason I ask is because I was told the A-ipower generator was indeed a Yamaha engine. Do you have a video comparing the 2 with the covers removed? Thanks.
So its been said that the motor used is a older honda gx motor and they dropped the cc's down to 79.7 cc. Just like the predator go cart motors are also knock off honda motors. Its not uncommon for these big companies to sell older models of motors to other company's. Seen it for years in certain power sports. I did several hours of reading and its not easy to find the info. You have to dig alot, and its kinda exhausting lol. Now the aipower ....wen generator and one other i forgot ise the same motor. What they do is change the electrical a little sometimes.
Sorry i read your comment wrong. The A-ipower is a senzi motor which is a yamaha clone motor like the wen. Predator 2000 is a old gx honda clone knocked down on cc.
Ai is not Honda. It’s Yamaha MZ 80. Red is MZ 80 clone/148F, blue is Yamaha “OEM” MZ 80, but they are all MZ 80 on Ai’s period. China makes all engines for all generators brands including Honda and Yamaha, period. They are 1000 of manufacturers in China and they use the same engine clones or old small engines from both Yamaha and Honda. China was making Honda Vespas using 79cc Honda engine back in 80’s that was actually made in China by Honda. That’s what they are using for generators together with some of the Yamahas.
I have the i power it’s the blue one with the Yamaha motor 2000 watt I also Honda 2000 watt gen that I bought ten years ago that I leave at my cabin . I would have to say they both seem to be Great after owning the A i power that I got for $400 I would never spend that much on a Honda but I have 700 of hours on the Honda and only mybe only a 100 hours on the Ai power time will tell . I was told that the red Ai power generators had Subaru motors in them that what SU was but not sure if anyone knows let me know great video thanks for spending the time doing it 😉👍🏻
Well you just have to remember that harbor freight doesn’t make them they only sell them. And in all honesty I would buy a different gen over the small predator as others have better options especially for the price. Look into the Aipower as it doesn’t need a parallel kit just cables to connect two together and you can buy through Amazon with there warranty and still be cheaper then predator. I have links in the description 👍🏼
Both actually use a Yamaha clone engine mz80 but the Aipower honestly I think is under rated for the price and sleek design and I don’t really ever hear much as far as complaints I think it’s a better buy also not needing a parallel box. It’s on sale a lot for $359 on Amazon. Predator is $600 I think now which is crazy.
I thought i saw that somewhere but for the people who find used deals such as the ai power i picked up for $200 i would like to see what a conversion kit would cost. Buy a kit or build your self.
Yup so true. I actually don’t even recommend the predator 2000 or 3500 anymore. There is better out there and you can get a big box store warranty with same replacement or return. Just take advantage of any sales prices. Or buy online at Walmart which they seem to carry everything now. Lol
