Nice video! If you can? Use a sleeping bag or something thick to wrap-around that exhaust hose to keep the heat from radiating inside, it'll be much more efficient for you. That was the biggest problem I had with portable AC units and I ended up changing to a window unit so I wasn't being counter productive with the ac trying to cool air that it was heating.
How the 8000 BTU LG perform in 90F temperature? I got 10000 BTU GE with Honda 2200i generator and is difficult to cool the cab day time. I am thinking to install mini split AC system they are very strong and better with the power consumption. Update: I just got Midea 12000 Btu inverter portable Ac. I am very satisfied. Cool the cab in minutes and is very low in power consumption averaging 400-500 watts. I can use it with the generator or with my battery box.
@@94nolo What kind of truck do you have? Better get your tape measure, pen, paper, imagination and some research/YT videos lol. I have the LG portable and it’s garbage and can’t cool the cab when it’s 80 plus outside. Just purchased a 6k window unit and going to install it tomorrow August 7th 2022
thank you so much for posting this! this is exactly what i want to do for our promaster camper van, exact same set up! Any problems so far? can you give us a update? again, thanks!!!!
It comes with a piece/s that's designed for a home window. A square window. I put the exhaust up there with one piece and now I put a pillow in the open spot of the window. There are curtains in the truck that I pull over there the exhaust vent as well.
@@selmacali101 it's 7 to 8 hours. I have hoses. So I couldn't get a bigger generator. At night it doesn't have to run full bore the night. It lasts longer.
thats the worst kind of ac u can buy it is so inefficient .. u better just install a 0.5ton windows ac or better split ac if u can find a 0.5ton , those are i think 0.75 minimum . and make ur setup clean!
It still works. I changed the oil a couple of weeks ago. It was hard to start up. It had 5 month old gas. I put a 8 amp charger on the batteri and the generator just idled. I can't watch TV in the semi for more than about 3 hours after the first night. Then I have to idle the truck or just run the generator.
Only price difference about 200$ I was able to trade the one I bought from Harbour Freight for the larger one Just had to pay extra 200$ works fine has Alot of Amps And Watts
How many amps and starting amps is your AC? How many BTUs??? Not all ACs are equal the same btu rating can have different power demands due to efficiency.
What size air unit? Like WayWardTrucker said, figure out the specs of the unit and go from there. Be careful when you're buying a generator. Some brands overstate the output of their generators. I have had good luck with predator and champion generators, I regularly run loads over the rated output with no issue. I used a Rockpals 2000w inverter from Amazon (same model sold under many brand names on Amazon), and it wouldn't support an 1100 Watt starting load, so buyer beware.
@@Kaitlin24247 Do you have space for the 3500? The 3500 will run it, the 2000 should run it. If I use too long of an extension cord the AC won't start with my 2000. The 2000 is a good 50+ pounds. Iirc the 3500 is in the high 90s for weight and more bulky.
